[00:00:05] Speaker A: You are listening to an atomic broadcasting production. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the feature presentation. And remember, do your part. Such as, like, comment rate, and don't forget to tell a friend to tune in for an atomic time.
[00:00:30] Speaker B: Hey, everybody. Before we get into things, just wanted to give you a quick heads up that there will be a special announcement after today's episode. That's all for now, so I'll let you enjoy the show and I will see you again at the end.
Now, where did we leave off?
[00:00:46] Speaker A: Ah, yes.
[00:00:49] Speaker B: As the party defeated arid in his enchanted armor, he taunted them that he would come back from seemingly nowhere. Cornelius insisted they stop him from escaping, tossing Alward a familiar chalice.
[00:01:10] Speaker C: One second. Everyone's getting alerts because there's a severe thunderstorm warning.
[00:01:13] Speaker D: Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for this area until 5:15 Central Daylight Time for destructive 80 mile per hour winds.
[00:01:20] Speaker B: Oh, my.
[00:01:20] Speaker D: So take shelter at a sturdy building away from windows. Well, we're screwed.
[00:01:24] Speaker E: All the trees that are completely still outside are really giving me a lot of faith in that. That message.
I didn't get one. What the heck?
[00:01:31] Speaker C: Yours might come in, like, five.
[00:01:33] Speaker F: It was a prank to Abby.
[00:01:34] Speaker B: My phone doesn't care about my safety.
[00:01:37] Speaker D: Hang on.
According to the radar, yes, I believe that.
[00:01:40] Speaker E: Unfortunately, I did turn on the 80.
[00:01:43] Speaker F: Mile per hour wind.
[00:01:44] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:01:45] Speaker F: Cool. Till 5:15.
[00:01:47] Speaker D: Till 5:15.
[00:01:48] Speaker F: That should be after this episode's done.
[00:01:49] Speaker D: All right, guys.
[00:01:51] Speaker C: Nice, neat row.
[00:01:53] Speaker D: That's. It's beautiful, Sven.
[00:01:54] Speaker A: Thank you.
[00:01:55] Speaker F: Bo.
Bo.
[00:01:57] Speaker A: I stack. I.
I stack my dice in linear rose.
[00:02:01] Speaker F: Or I.
[00:02:03] Speaker C: Do it like me and be confused when you're looking for D10s.
[00:02:08] Speaker A: No, that. Petite. I heard that, too.
[00:02:13] Speaker C: That's petite. It's petite doing a fun thing.
[00:02:15] Speaker B: Petite.
[00:02:16] Speaker F: Stop it.
[00:02:16] Speaker A: Petite.
[00:02:17] Speaker F: Turn your music off.
[00:02:18] Speaker D: Mute your computer.
[00:02:20] Speaker A: Not that I don't like the sound effect, but. What?
[00:02:23] Speaker E: I just thought it'd be fun.
[00:02:24] Speaker A: Well, it's.
[00:02:25] Speaker B: What?
[00:02:26] Speaker A: You're fun.
[00:02:26] Speaker E: No explanation.
[00:02:27] Speaker C: Just.
[00:02:28] Speaker A: He's a fun guy.
[00:02:30] Speaker E: I'm not.
[00:02:31] Speaker C: When did you become fungus?
[00:02:33] Speaker F: Look at him.
[00:02:35] Speaker C: Is everyone fungus?
[00:02:36] Speaker E: There is a fungus among us, Jenkins.
[00:02:38] Speaker F: We are all fungus people like you.
[00:02:41] Speaker E: No, I think I'm a little hooked. We are absolutely cooked right now.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: Speaking of being cooked, a red just had an arrow shot through the eye slot of his helmet. His helmet went rolling off onto the ground. But just as you were all starting to feel that sense of relief and victory, you heard his voice echoing out, laughing and promising that he'd be back. Before you had any time to process that, though, a voice behind Alward Shouted at him, don't let him get away. Don't let him get away. And Cornelius, from a rooftop behind Alward, tossed a chalice down to Alward.
[00:03:17] Speaker C: And I caught it with my mage hand.
And as my mage hand's bringing it to me, I'm looking at it. What's the chalice look like?
[00:03:25] Speaker B: It looks just like Hymir's.
[00:03:29] Speaker C: Why do you have this? What am I gonna do?
[00:03:34] Speaker B: Don't ask questions about my chalices. Just use it.
[00:03:38] Speaker C: Alward. Just looking at it, still being held up by the mage hand, and I'm.
[00:03:41] Speaker A: Just like, what, Alward?
[00:03:44] Speaker B: Those shadowy figures of yourself surrounding you now, all. Each of them have chalices. And they all start doing various things. One's, like, using it like a wand. Another starts pouring something into it. And all of them are starting to look confused, except one who's just holding it and then just closing his eyes and focusing.
[00:04:08] Speaker C: Alward begrudgingly grabs the chalice.
[00:04:12] Speaker B: Your fingers touch the chalice?
[00:04:13] Speaker C: Yeah, they have to.
[00:04:15] Speaker B: As you touch the chalice, you see.
[00:04:16] Speaker F: The other one die.
[00:04:20] Speaker E: Too little, too late.
[00:04:22] Speaker A: Dead.
[00:04:23] Speaker B: You're assailed with just flashes of imagery of various faces. Most of them are completely just. You have no idea who that is. But one of the faces is Heimir's. Another face is an old man with, like, a wizened face. Another is Cornelius, and then Cornelius again, and then Cornelius again.
And then you see just this horrifying monstrosity, and then they're all gone. And you're holding the chalice.
[00:04:51] Speaker C: What emotions came with those?
[00:04:54] Speaker B: Oh, boy.
[00:04:55] Speaker C: Psychometric resonance.
[00:04:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
So, Sam, what emotion do you think Hynir would be feeling right now?
[00:05:03] Speaker F: Right now?
[00:05:04] Speaker B: Right now?
[00:05:04] Speaker F: Where is he right now? Is he in the chalice?
[00:05:08] Speaker B: No.
[00:05:11] Speaker F: The desperation's still overtaking. Cause he still would be. His goal wouldn't be fulfilled at this point.
[00:05:17] Speaker B: Yeah, so just that sense of desperation.
[00:05:18] Speaker F: And, I guess, ambition, because, like, he's aiming to kill the gods right now. So, like.
And hatred.
Hatred and desperation.
[00:05:26] Speaker B: So that's what you get from that sense of that first one from Hymir, from the second image of just the wizened old man with white hair. You get a sense of the primary emotion is hatred.
But then there's an undercurrent of fear galvanizing into action.
And then all three of the Corneliuses that you saw all have the same emotion of.
What is the word I'm looking for? Fury.
And then finally, that horrifying monstrosity has just abject hatred.
[00:06:04] Speaker C: So right now, Albert is standing there holding the mug, the rain is still not touching him as they turn into symbols to represent his psyche surrounding him. Because his psyche is still unleashed. He's going to sort of take a moment and like analyze everything around him to like re center. And then he's going to focus on the cup and he's going to focus on aid and see what happens.
[00:06:33] Speaker B: What is your will DC?
Sorry? Your spell casting DC.
[00:06:36] Speaker C: My spell casting DC is 29.
[00:06:38] Speaker B: 29.
[00:06:39] Speaker F: Click. Use hero point. Give him disadvantage.
[00:06:42] Speaker B: Okay, I rolled the die Sven. I'm going to move my die trace. You can see what I have.
[00:06:47] Speaker F: Use a hero point. We gotta make sure this works fine.
[00:06:52] Speaker C: But I swear, if I die.
Use a hero point to make sure he gets a bad one.
[00:06:57] Speaker B: Okay, I'm gonna re roll.
I'm also gonna show spin this die.
[00:07:02] Speaker C: Did he just roll two Nat 20s.
[00:07:05] Speaker B: Sven, which is the worst of those two die rolls? Please announce that one.
[00:07:09] Speaker A: One.
[00:07:10] Speaker F: Hey, was that the first one span.
[00:07:12] Speaker B: What was the second number?
[00:07:15] Speaker A: You made me waste a hero point.
[00:07:17] Speaker F: We had to be sure.
It was the only way to be sure.
[00:07:23] Speaker A: That was a 20. If I remember right, that would have been hilarious.
[00:07:27] Speaker B: No, the second one was a 10.
[00:07:28] Speaker F: Yeah, I'm sorry.
[00:07:32] Speaker B: Green fog begins to pour out of the chalice and sweep across the plaza, enveloping the entire party.
As it does, you suddenly feel the rain stop landing on your head.
And you just feel the stillness of air.
Stale air surrounding you.
Slowly, your eyes adjust to the light. Even if you had dark vision, your eyes slowly adjust to the light.
[00:08:02] Speaker F: Whoa.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: And you find yourselves in a high ceilinged cavern.
[00:08:09] Speaker F: It is phase two of the boss fight, isn't it?
[00:08:12] Speaker B: But the center is sort of this spiraling descent to a little stone spire in the middle.
[00:08:17] Speaker E: Ooh, it's circular.
[00:08:19] Speaker D: I'm sorry, does that look like Pharasma's symbol?
[00:08:23] Speaker B: Spiral.
Opposite this room from you, you see an old man sitting on a throne.
[00:08:32] Speaker F: It's a. Isn't it?
[00:08:34] Speaker B: A chalice held in his hand. Oh boy, he says.
So you found your way here, oh boy, to my tomb.
He sets the chalice down on the armrest of his throne and slowly stands up.
Or have you?
I feel such strength as I have not felt in many years.
And he clenches his fists.
The white hair slowly, like as if just spreading from the roots, turns yellow. And all of the wrinkles in his skin become. Begin to lift.
We're not in my tomb, are we?
We're in my mind.
[00:09:25] Speaker F: Great.
[00:09:26] Speaker A: Are we still have the same initiative order?
[00:09:28] Speaker B: Yes, we'll use the same initiative Then it's my turn.
[00:09:30] Speaker D: Dang it.
[00:09:30] Speaker E: I thought he did never say that we were out of initiative.
[00:09:33] Speaker D: I know, but I hoped we were done. Yeah, I'm just saying.
[00:09:36] Speaker B: You're up.
[00:09:37] Speaker A: It's a little more walks behind Val. Just put me behind Vel.
[00:09:41] Speaker F: Hello.
[00:09:42] Speaker A: And you feel a touch on your shoulder as suddenly a radiance builds and flashes around you and then settles on top of you as a type of armor.
[00:09:56] Speaker F: Oh.
[00:09:56] Speaker A: The colors of which are determined by a roll.
Orange and green color. Not that useful, but somewhat useful.
[00:10:07] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:10:08] Speaker A: As I cast chromatic armor on you.
[00:10:11] Speaker F: Ah. What does orange and green do?
[00:10:13] Speaker A: You have resistance. Five to acid and five to poison.
However, the extra little bit, that is somewhat more useful and what I was hoping for. Anyone that attacks you must attempt a will save. If it fails, they become dazzled until the end of the next turn.
And it lasts for one minute.
[00:10:35] Speaker F: Nice.
[00:10:35] Speaker B: All right, next up is Neros.
[00:10:39] Speaker D: Should I smack him or should I debuff? Or try to debuff?
[00:10:43] Speaker F: Your debuffs often are pretty game changing, but are a little harder to get off.
[00:10:49] Speaker D: Yeah.
How far away am I from Arid?
[00:10:54] Speaker B: On the opposite side of this cavern you find yourselves in now.
[00:10:58] Speaker F: I think it's 50.
[00:10:59] Speaker B: Yes, 50. Exactly. 50.
[00:11:02] Speaker C: Oh, gosh.
[00:11:04] Speaker D: I need to be 20ft closer to him.
[00:11:07] Speaker F: I hear that spiral thing in the middle is a five foot drop.
[00:11:10] Speaker B: It is. It wouldn't do you any damage to drop down there.
[00:11:14] Speaker D: Yeah, but then he'd be above me and I don't like that.
[00:11:17] Speaker C: He would have the high ground.
[00:11:19] Speaker D: Yeah.
If I move up north behind that like, wall ish thing.
AM I within 30ft there?
[00:11:27] Speaker B: No, you could get within 30ft here.
[00:11:31] Speaker D: Fine. I will jump down to get within 30ft of this guy.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: So you. You drop down into like this spiralish hole and now you're 30ft away from Arid.
[00:11:43] Speaker D: Great. That's too close.
Okay, give me a will save.
[00:11:48] Speaker B: All right.
[00:11:49] Speaker C: Oh, I hope will is still as weak as say.
[00:11:51] Speaker D: I don't know.
[00:11:52] Speaker A: I hope will is a reflex.
[00:11:54] Speaker B: We're not the D.C. is 28 a regular success.
[00:11:59] Speaker D: Okay.
The target babbles incoherently in a stunned one.
I cast confusion.
[00:12:05] Speaker B: Confusion.
[00:12:06] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:12:07] Speaker F: That's awesome.
[00:12:11] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:12:11] Speaker E: I agree.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: What a king that speaks so eloquently.
[00:12:16] Speaker B: Speak a puva.
Yes.
[00:12:18] Speaker D: I moved and then I cast confusion. So that is me.
[00:12:21] Speaker B: You. Are you alward?
[00:12:23] Speaker C: Alward. His psyche is still unleashed because his turn has not ended yet.
Takes in his surroundings really quickly.
And he remembers that surrounding Aerid was Neros dagger. And as if being summoned it pops back into his existence, and it's going to. I'm gonna use one action to sustain, and it's gonna hit Aaron.
[00:12:47] Speaker B: All right, I'll need a strike check. No, you don't.
[00:12:51] Speaker C: Man, I really wish I had my hero point card.
I would. I would have loved to have rerolled that.
[00:12:57] Speaker A: I. I couldn't tell you what it was. I'm sorry.
[00:13:02] Speaker C: No, you're good. I'm just giving Sam crap.
[00:13:04] Speaker E: I mean, I could give it back to you. I don't know if we could use it, but.
[00:13:08] Speaker C: 24.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: As the dagger slashes through the air at arid, he, like, swats at it, and it kind of, like, dissipates into fog before, like, assimilating back on the other side. That is a miss.
Okay.
[00:13:22] Speaker C: And then I'm going to use a free action to channel the signet ring. Or is that what it's called? The shadow signet ring? That's what it's called.
And he needs to make a.
I believe it could be reflex.
[00:13:35] Speaker B: Are you using the shadow signet to target his reflex instead of his ac?
[00:13:38] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:13:38] Speaker B: So you make a spell attack against his reflex DC instead of his AC.
[00:13:42] Speaker C: Oh, misunderstood. Okay. Hopefully it's worse.
Hopefully.
29.
[00:13:50] Speaker B: That is not a success.
[00:13:52] Speaker F: What is that noise?
[00:13:54] Speaker E: It was happening earlier.
[00:13:56] Speaker C: It's probably the storm that's really getting up outside.
[00:13:59] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:14:00] Speaker B: I don't know what's happening.
[00:14:02] Speaker C: Telekinetic projectile amped. Oh, yeah. So my whole turn, nothing happened, and we move on.
[00:14:09] Speaker B: Sure. Nothing happened.
[00:14:10] Speaker C: Yeah, nothing happened.
[00:14:12] Speaker F: I mean, the trees are moving now.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: Something is happening.
[00:14:16] Speaker D: We might want to.
[00:14:23] Speaker B: Okay, well, we are back now. We had a little bit of a drop there. Storm blew through, took out a few trees and a few limbs around us. We are off on backup power here to keep recording a show for you, our wonderful listeners. So now we have no map. But what we are going to do, since we are in the mindscape, we're just going to pull this into theater of mind, and everything is going to be a little bit more mental.
So, Sam, why don't you go ahead and take us away with Val's turn?
[00:14:53] Speaker F: Oh, for sure. Yeah.
Val is going to run down this spiral using two actions to get 10ft above arid.
And then Sigurn is gonna fly down to flank Arid beneath him.
And then Val's going to strike.
Like you can't escape. The judgment is upon you.
And then I will smite him. Then I will attack him.
35.
[00:15:26] Speaker B: That is a hit.
[00:15:27] Speaker F: Plus three to damage, increasing to plus four if you have Master with your weapon. If I'm a holy or unholy and the target has the opposite trait, the bonus goes up. So I'm not a master yet. So if he's unholy, the bonus is plus four.
[00:15:40] Speaker B: Okay, so add a plus four to your damage roll.
[00:15:44] Speaker F: Okay.
Ooh.
All fives.
21 points of magical cold iron, cold damage, and slashing as well.
[00:15:56] Speaker B: All right, so as your glaive swings through, it looks like it cleaves right through his armor and hits him beneath, as if his armor was offering no protection whatsoever.
[00:16:06] Speaker F: Oh, like. Like a mental projection.
[00:16:09] Speaker B: Yeah, like his armor is not even there anymore.
[00:16:12] Speaker F: It still has a gem, the Soul Stone, things all over.
[00:16:16] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:16:17] Speaker F: Okay, but he's just a normal old. No, he's not old anymore. He was old, but then he pretended to not be old.
[00:16:23] Speaker B: Funny you should say that, because your turn's over now, right?
[00:16:25] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:16:26] Speaker B: Yeah. So as. As you're considering all of this, it's a Rod's turn, and the armor just fully dissolves off of him now. And he's wearing like, like medieval trousers and a sash. But like from the waist up, he's just completely bare chested, you know, ripped muscles, and he's covered all over with those runes, just like Uvir. His hair at this point is no longer the shock white. It's like a bold blonde hair. And his beard is coming in more full. And he's like this. You see before you is King Aid in his prime.
And he'll step up to Val. He's still got this, the flail and the shield in his hands. And he swings the flail at val with a.
A 36 to hit 36.
[00:17:15] Speaker F: Sven, remind me what your chromatic armor. That doesn't change my ac. It just.
[00:17:20] Speaker A: It doesn't change your ac. What it does is it gives you resistance in this case, to acid and poison. Acid and poison.
However, Arad will need to make a.
[00:17:32] Speaker B: Will save, so he gets to roll his damage first, and then he'll do the will save after DC.23.
So that's a total of 25 bludgeoning damage and one cold damage.
[00:17:45] Speaker F: The cold damage does not go through because I have resistance to cold damage.
[00:17:48] Speaker B: That is true.
And then what did you say the DC was spent?
[00:17:53] Speaker A: 23.
[00:17:54] Speaker B: 23.
[00:17:54] Speaker F: Also, I am bloodied. Oh. I have 69 hit points.
[00:17:59] Speaker B: That's a critical success on his will save.
[00:18:01] Speaker A: So he's immune till the next. The end of his next turn.
[00:18:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:05] Speaker F: How unfortunate for me.
[00:18:07] Speaker B: Then, with his last action, Aid's going to attack you again.
[00:18:12] Speaker F: Oh, does he have to?
[00:18:16] Speaker B: He does. It's an imperative.
[00:18:18] Speaker F: Leo is confused, so he has to attack.
[00:18:22] Speaker B: I forgot.
[00:18:23] Speaker D: He is stunned. One from the confusion.
[00:18:25] Speaker B: One. He can't attack again.
[00:18:27] Speaker C: Get out of here.
[00:18:27] Speaker F: Ah, suck it.
[00:18:28] Speaker B: He goes to swing his flail and then goes.
[00:18:35] Speaker F: Oh, that means his whole speech that he just said was very good. In his mind, he was like, I'm telling these people about how ripped I am.
[00:18:46] Speaker E: But we are in his mind. So what does that mean?
[00:18:49] Speaker B: You get to see both. You see the babbling and you see what he meant to say, but both.
[00:18:53] Speaker E: At the same time. So it's all just incoherent.
[00:18:57] Speaker B: Zafir.
[00:18:58] Speaker E: Oh, it's my turn.
So here's a question.
Does the draw the lightning still apply?
[00:19:05] Speaker C: If my Neros dagger applies, you're called the lightning applies.
[00:19:10] Speaker F: You just have to believe.
[00:19:11] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:19:11] Speaker B: Zafir, I want you to make me a will saving throw.
[00:19:14] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:19:15] Speaker C: Why does he have to do that?
[00:19:17] Speaker A: I don't like how he has to do that.
[00:19:19] Speaker E: 26.
[00:19:21] Speaker B: The Lightning does carry through as you believe that it will.
[00:19:25] Speaker E: So within this spirally depth, you can see just an arrow flying across as.
What else would he do?
[00:19:35] Speaker B: Spell strike.
[00:19:38] Speaker E: 36.
[00:19:41] Speaker B: That's a hit.
[00:19:42] Speaker F: Is he still broken?
[00:19:43] Speaker B: No.
[00:19:46] Speaker E: So my assumption at this very point is he looks like a person. Right. A living creature.
Then I'm going to cast vision of death heightened by one mind you.
[00:20:03] Speaker F: Ooh, she'll hurt me. Timber.
[00:20:04] Speaker E: So that will be a will saving throw.
[00:20:08] Speaker B: All right.
[00:20:10] Speaker C: Is that a good or a bad face?
[00:20:13] Speaker B: That's a critical success.
[00:20:14] Speaker F: Oh, boo.
[00:20:17] Speaker C: You still hit him with your arrow.
[00:20:18] Speaker E: Yeah, I do still hit him with my arrow.
[00:20:20] Speaker F: And a D12 lightning.
[00:20:24] Speaker E: Out of all the things I rolled. Three threes. Oh, so three twos, seven piercing, two fire and two electric.
And then I'm going to recharge.
[00:20:37] Speaker B: All right, Uber as you were. Right. About ready to take your turn. An ax comes hurtling across this cavernous space and swings at you.
[00:20:47] Speaker F: Whoa. That's rude.
[00:20:48] Speaker B: It's not delaying anymore.
It's not delaying anymore.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: Very rude.
[00:20:52] Speaker C: So axe now.
[00:20:53] Speaker F: It is right next to Sigur.
You know it is. It is literally right next to a Sigurd.
[00:20:58] Speaker B: Yeah, but it wants to go hit a spellcaster.
[00:21:01] Speaker F: What about Sigurd?
[00:21:02] Speaker B: It's it. See, this ax really like hitting spellcasters.
[00:21:06] Speaker E: He's cutting in line.
[00:21:11] Speaker B: With a 41 to hit.
[00:21:13] Speaker F: Oh. Oh, my goodness.
[00:21:14] Speaker A: This ax.
[00:21:15] Speaker C: Don't play around.
[00:21:16] Speaker E: I've never wanted to kill an ax more.
[00:21:18] Speaker F: Oh, no. I think that's a crit against our Poor boy.
[00:21:21] Speaker A: Reaction wouldn't double.
[00:21:23] Speaker B: Ooh.
[00:21:24] Speaker F: Oh, that sounds cool. Are you a shinobi from Naruto?
[00:21:28] Speaker A: What?
[00:21:28] Speaker C: Oh, wooden double.
[00:21:30] Speaker F: Yeah, like the sound. Substitution.
[00:21:32] Speaker C: Yes, it's a good joke.
[00:21:34] Speaker A: The trigger being I'm critically hit by a damage dealing effect or strike.
I take a step action.
One step to the left or right? You can choose.
[00:21:44] Speaker F: One step to the left.
[00:21:45] Speaker A: I choose north, south and a wooden block about my size and shape appears in the space that I left and absorbs the hit.
It has hardness 5 and 20 hit points.
[00:22:00] Speaker F: I have to know, where did you get this feat?
[00:22:03] Speaker A: It's not a feat. It's a spell.
[00:22:04] Speaker F: It's a spell? Yeah. Oh, that's amazing.
[00:22:07] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:22:07] Speaker D: What spell is this?
[00:22:09] Speaker A: Wooden double.
[00:22:10] Speaker D: Oh, okay.
[00:22:10] Speaker B: It's a reactive spell. What would happen if I destroy the wooden double?
[00:22:14] Speaker A: I take the remaining damage.
[00:22:15] Speaker B: Okay, so hardness five. You said 25 HP.
[00:22:18] Speaker A: 20 hit points.
[00:22:20] Speaker B: So you take 21 damage. That makes it through as the ax cleaves through this wooden double that appears and just continues swiping and hits you as well.
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Ouchy. 21.
[00:22:31] Speaker B: Make a perception check.
[00:22:32] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:22:32] Speaker F: Oh, there's a dude holding it.
[00:22:34] Speaker A: A little Gremlin 35.
[00:22:40] Speaker F: Wow.
[00:22:41] Speaker B: You definitely perceive as this ax is cleaving through the wooden double and hits you. It spins back around and you notice on the pommel of it is a familiar rune.
[00:22:54] Speaker F: Oh, snap, crackle and pop.
[00:22:57] Speaker B: You've seen it before on the hammer you found on Troll Forge.
[00:23:01] Speaker F: Oh, the one that we gave to Pilgrim.
[00:23:04] Speaker A: Did we? We didn't. It was like a rune of mine, wasn't it?
[00:23:07] Speaker B: Yes, we.
[00:23:08] Speaker A: We don't know what it means.
[00:23:09] Speaker B: It has not been translated.
[00:23:11] Speaker F: Yeah, quick, translate it now.
[00:23:16] Speaker D: Get knocked out.
[00:23:17] Speaker F: Pick it up again.
[00:23:18] Speaker E: I could open my little book.
But maybe after we kill this guy.
Hey, don't kill me. I want to read something.
[00:23:26] Speaker F: I have important translating to do, so.
[00:23:29] Speaker B: That'S a reasonable request. Yes, I could definitely accommodate.
[00:23:31] Speaker E: That would be an Uvaire thing to say. I mean, if he doesn't know what it means, maybe he wants to know too.
[00:23:37] Speaker B: By using a spell slot to knock off 25 damage. Yep.
[00:23:40] Speaker F: Roth is good for our tankiest caster. Yeah, that was a really good, like, crit negation.
[00:23:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:23:46] Speaker B: All right. So now that the axe has axed u, it's your turn.
[00:23:52] Speaker A: Oh, bother.
[00:23:54] Speaker D: Oh, bother.
[00:23:56] Speaker C: How do I fight?
How do I fight? Sven, you're supposed to study up on this.
[00:24:02] Speaker A: I need the axe to make a will save.
[00:24:05] Speaker F: Does the axe have a will?
[00:24:06] Speaker B: I have something important to say. Yeah, the axe clatters to the ground.
[00:24:12] Speaker F: Oh, okay. That is an important thing for you to say.
[00:24:15] Speaker B: I forgot to roll on this time. Oh, it's a flat check to see if it keeps going. Ah, I forgot to roll its flat check.
[00:24:23] Speaker F: Okay, then shoot out. Aaron.
[00:24:25] Speaker D: Just shoot him.
[00:24:26] Speaker B: Shoot him.
[00:24:27] Speaker F: Shoot him.
[00:24:30] Speaker A: Well, in that case, Neros.
[00:24:34] Speaker D: What?
[00:24:35] Speaker B: Hi.
Hi.
[00:24:37] Speaker A: You feel a slight touch on your shoulder.
[00:24:40] Speaker D: Oh, my.
[00:24:42] Speaker A: But you realize that nobody's behind you as spell power goes through you.
[00:24:50] Speaker D: Spell relay is consensual.
[00:24:53] Speaker C: It is consensual.
[00:24:54] Speaker B: It does use her reaction.
[00:24:56] Speaker A: Oh, it is a reaction.
[00:24:59] Speaker D: It's not just a free thing.
[00:25:00] Speaker C: Me and Abby planned that.
[00:25:02] Speaker A: I tap on your shoulder telepathically saying, can I please, like, do the thing through?
[00:25:15] Speaker F: He wants to wrinkle your brain too.
[00:25:18] Speaker C: Let us all wrinkle your brain.
[00:25:20] Speaker D: Guys, it can only be folded so many times.
[00:25:24] Speaker F: I won't do it.
[00:25:26] Speaker D: Yes, you may. You may relay through me.
[00:25:29] Speaker A: I don't have many spells that have a range of touch, so it won't happen a lot. Okay, so reach one action.
[00:25:36] Speaker D: Range of touch.
[00:25:37] Speaker A: Reach of one action.
[00:25:40] Speaker D: I'm so confused.
[00:25:41] Speaker B: You're hurting my brain. But that works.
[00:25:44] Speaker F: Just cast a touch spell using the reach that gives it 30ft.
[00:25:48] Speaker D: And then relay off of me.
Okay.
[00:25:53] Speaker F: This is 4D chess, over.
[00:25:55] Speaker A: I am a spellcaster. Jordy. I'm a 5D spellcaster.
[00:26:01] Speaker B: This hurts my brain, but it's correct.
[00:26:03] Speaker D: Wait, it works. Use me as a conduit.
[00:26:07] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:26:07] Speaker A: I need him to make a Fortitude save.
[00:26:10] Speaker B: Fortitude?
[00:26:11] Speaker F: Oh, that's the one we didn't hear about.
[00:26:12] Speaker C: That's his best save.
[00:26:13] Speaker F: Oh, never mind.
[00:26:14] Speaker B: What is your d save?
[00:26:15] Speaker A: Year man 29.
[00:26:16] Speaker F: He made a bad face.
[00:26:18] Speaker B: A regular success.
[00:26:19] Speaker A: Oh, for one minute. You are fatigued.
That's a regular success.
[00:26:25] Speaker D: Yeah, but what's the best cast?
[00:26:27] Speaker A: Ymir's mark.
[00:26:30] Speaker B: I have not heard of this.
[00:26:32] Speaker F: The Frost Giant.
[00:26:33] Speaker A: Yamir, let me read the description for you.
I place a fiery mark of the Queen of the Inferno on the target burning into the creature's grave very essence. The mark gives off a heat that only I can sense. As long as I'm in the same plane as the target, I can sense what direction it is in.
[00:26:53] Speaker F: What's that spell again?
[00:26:54] Speaker A: Ymir's mark.
[00:26:55] Speaker B: Yamiri's mark.
[00:26:56] Speaker A: Yamiri's mark.
[00:26:57] Speaker F: Oh, okay. Because I'm thinking, like, Norse Frost Giant.
[00:27:00] Speaker A: I'm like, that doesn't look like that doesn't fit Yamiri's. I can detonate the mark at any point during its duration. By dismissing the spell, the Rune explodes in a 10 foot emanation centered on the target. That deals 5d6 damage with a basic reflex.
[00:27:18] Speaker F: Do that. This fight.
[00:27:20] Speaker A: This is the goddess of the fire planes, Mark.
[00:27:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:23] Speaker C: Oh, I love the. Sorry.
[00:27:26] Speaker F: All right, cool.
[00:27:28] Speaker A: So the target is fatigued and can't reduce the value of this condition normally.
[00:27:32] Speaker D: Oh, my gosh.
[00:27:34] Speaker F: That is.
[00:27:34] Speaker C: Dude, that's really good.
[00:27:36] Speaker B: That's really gonna cramp my style during explorations. I can't use an exploration activity.
[00:27:41] Speaker F: However, you also take a minus one to your ac. Jordy.
[00:27:44] Speaker B: I know.
[00:27:45] Speaker F: Yeah, Jordy.
[00:27:46] Speaker A: So you just got that little thing on you right now for the next minute.
[00:27:50] Speaker B: So that's gonna drop his stat, his AC and status for throw.
[00:27:54] Speaker F: He's confused and fatigued.
[00:27:56] Speaker B: He's not confused anymore because he took a turn.
[00:27:58] Speaker F: Oh.
[00:27:58] Speaker B: It only lasted one round. Oh, okay.
[00:28:02] Speaker C: One of my backup characters worships this deity.
[00:28:05] Speaker B: I'm fatigued. I'm marked near us.
[00:28:09] Speaker D: I'm assuming there's people next to Aaron.
[00:28:11] Speaker F: Yes, I am next to him.
[00:28:13] Speaker D: You are.
[00:28:14] Speaker F: It's okay if you hit me, though.
[00:28:15] Speaker D: Gosh, I wish I had a map right now.
[00:28:17] Speaker E: But you're bloodied.
[00:28:18] Speaker B: Oh, I could do that.
[00:28:19] Speaker C: Do it.
[00:28:20] Speaker D: I could do a line and not hit you.
[00:28:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll allow it.
[00:28:24] Speaker D: Thank you. Because I have no map.
I want a map so bad.
[00:28:28] Speaker F: Because you haven't attacked yet.
[00:28:29] Speaker D: I want a map.
Okay. In a 50 foot line because I don't have to hit Val.
[00:28:38] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:28:38] Speaker D: I need a basic will or reflex throw arid.
[00:28:43] Speaker B: Ooh.
29.
Wait, 28.
[00:28:50] Speaker A: 15.
[00:28:53] Speaker D: Meets. It freaking beats it.
[00:28:56] Speaker F: So half damage do you need? I have some dice out.
[00:29:02] Speaker D: Why do you think I collect an insane amount of dice?
[00:29:05] Speaker C: Because they're pretty.
[00:29:07] Speaker F: You should have them out, Laura.
[00:29:08] Speaker A: That's a lovely sound.
[00:29:10] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:29:10] Speaker D: What kind of damage do I want to deal? I could do acid, bludgeoning, cold electricity, fire, force, piercing, slashing, sonic or spirit.
[00:29:18] Speaker F: I'm resistant.
[00:29:21] Speaker A: Spirit damage.
[00:29:22] Speaker D: Are you for serious?
Okay, I'll do spirit damage in my brain.
[00:29:28] Speaker F: It makes sense, especially in a mindscape.
[00:29:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:31] Speaker D: 14 points of damage, and that's already halved Spirit damage.
[00:29:36] Speaker B: All right.
And it looks like that's a little bit more effective than you were expecting, as his form kind of like flickers and then, like, reconstitutes itself.
[00:29:49] Speaker D: Good to know.
Do I want to move or stay put?
Yes. Give me your napkin.
[00:29:55] Speaker B: Map.
A mapkin.
[00:29:58] Speaker D: A mapkin. Wait, I am not on that side of the spiral.
[00:30:01] Speaker C: I thought you were.
[00:30:02] Speaker D: No, I'm on the other side of the spiral.
[00:30:03] Speaker C: Sorry. Correct. My mapkin.
[00:30:05] Speaker D: I'm correcting your mapkin.
I think I'm gonna stay where I'm at, but I'm gonna cast a magic missile at him.
[00:30:15] Speaker F: Yeah.
Another force barrage.
I sure do love force barrage.
[00:30:25] Speaker C: I need to pick up that spell.
[00:30:27] Speaker A: Four points of damage plus one.
[00:30:30] Speaker D: That's already adding it.
[00:30:32] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:30:33] Speaker C: That's such a good, like, one action poke. I love that.
[00:30:37] Speaker D: It's like, hey, you just got all this damage. You want a little more? It makes me feel like I'm doing things.
[00:30:42] Speaker B: Speaking of spells. Doing things. Jenkins.
[00:30:46] Speaker C: So I'm stupefied. One for two rounds because my psyche ended normally. We don't have to deal with this.
[00:30:51] Speaker B: I would have given you a different intro if I know that was coming.
[00:30:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
Let's go.
[00:30:59] Speaker F: It's ironic.
That's what makes it funny.
[00:31:02] Speaker C: I. Okay, I have an idea, and I think it's going to be funny. I'm going to spend one action to stab at arid with Nero's dagger.
[00:31:13] Speaker B: Like you do.
[00:31:13] Speaker C: Like you do.
Oh, that's good. Ooh, that's real good.
[00:31:17] Speaker F: Ooh, yes, he is.
[00:31:21] Speaker C: Makes the math a little harder. 35.
[00:31:24] Speaker B: That's a regular hit.
[00:31:25] Speaker C: Yay.
[00:31:26] Speaker E: Can I see the napkin map?
[00:31:27] Speaker F: The napkin.
[00:31:28] Speaker D: The mapkin.
[00:31:29] Speaker C: The mapkin.
[00:31:29] Speaker D: The mapkin is powerful.
[00:31:31] Speaker B: Right now, all bow down to the mapkin.
[00:31:33] Speaker D: Oh, are you making it in Excel?
[00:31:35] Speaker E: No, I'm making it in onenote, But I'm gonna use my tools that I have on hand.
[00:31:41] Speaker B: Map.
[00:31:43] Speaker A: Ooh.
[00:31:45] Speaker C: 27 damage.
[00:31:47] Speaker F: Whoa.
[00:31:48] Speaker C: I almost max damage.
[00:31:49] Speaker D: That's a lot of damage.
[00:31:51] Speaker B: A lot of it.
[00:31:51] Speaker F: Used hours. We're ready to murder someone.
[00:31:54] Speaker C: It's in the mine, so it's fine.
[00:31:55] Speaker B: As that dagger slashes through him, it's opening just a huge gash across his chest, and he is now bloodied.
[00:32:03] Speaker C: As that dagger slashes through him.
The throne sort of glitches and phases and becomes a really pompous four pillar bed.
And then I'm going to cast thoughtful gift and bring the axe to my hand.
[00:32:22] Speaker B: Nice. Nice.
[00:32:23] Speaker C: That is my turn.
[00:32:24] Speaker B: I'm loving the mental image of just alward with this big old halberd in his hands.
[00:32:30] Speaker C: I thought it was an axe.
[00:32:31] Speaker B: I was being vague. It is an axe. It is a polearm. Axe.
[00:32:35] Speaker F: Oh, is it an axe or a polearm?
[00:32:36] Speaker B: It's a halberd.
[00:32:38] Speaker F: It's a halberd.
[00:32:38] Speaker A: Why didn't you just say that from the beginning?
[00:32:40] Speaker B: Val, it's your turn.
[00:32:42] Speaker F: I'm so confused with my glaive.
I'm sorry. With my short sword.
I'm not doing so good, guys.
So Val's gonna pull a vow, and actually, in cast, focus, spell. I mentioned that before, but it's been a lot has happened, and I'm gonna cast. I'm gonna cast. Lay on hands on myself.
[00:33:04] Speaker B: All right, wait, you do.
[00:33:05] Speaker F: Wait, hold on. I'm gonna take a step, then cast. Lay on hands on myself.
[00:33:11] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:33:12] Speaker F: Heal myself for 30.
And then with her last action before her last action, Sigurd is gonna just kind of step forward to give me flanking again.
Then I'm going to strike with a 37 critical hit.
[00:33:31] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:33:32] Speaker B: Because he's fatigued.
[00:33:33] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:33:35] Speaker F: And off guard.
So 33 damage.
[00:33:40] Speaker B: So with that gash from your Glaive, that might be a short sword. Who knows? Because we're in a mindscape.
He is on his last legs, and from the cut that's on him, his blood starts pouring out, and it just, like, starts steaming.
[00:33:58] Speaker C: Oh, is he gonna become a Titan?
[00:34:00] Speaker B: He looks at Val and he's like, you don't know what you're doing. And starts swinging just, like, wildly with his flail.
First attack roll is 28.
[00:34:11] Speaker F: That is not hit.
[00:34:13] Speaker B: Second is 36.
[00:34:16] Speaker F: That is a hit.
[00:34:18] Speaker A: With the penalty. Dang.
[00:34:19] Speaker F: I had 32. It'd lay on hands.
[00:34:22] Speaker B: So that will be 24 bludgeoning damage.
[00:34:25] Speaker F: Oof.
[00:34:26] Speaker B: And six.
[00:34:27] Speaker A: Cold question. Has he had a turn since he attacked Traval last time?
[00:34:32] Speaker B: No. This would be his next turn. He does need to make a save against the color thing. Oh, yeah. Another critical success. He got a 19 on the die. That is the end of a turn. He's kind of, like, standing unsteadily on his feet now, even like the. It's almost like the edges of his shape are just, like, inconsistent.
And with that, it is Zafir's turn.
[00:34:56] Speaker E: So just like the last time, there's gonna be another arrow that flies across shadow projectile.
[00:35:03] Speaker F: Oh, you're both going for it. This is it. I feeling it Will save.
[00:35:08] Speaker B: He rolled well on the will save. It's gonna be 41 move on 27.
[00:35:15] Speaker E: A hit meets.
[00:35:16] Speaker B: It beats it.
[00:35:17] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:35:18] Speaker B: Because of the fatigue.
[00:35:20] Speaker E: Oh, thank goodness. All right, so that means I get to hit him with ignition as well.
[00:35:24] Speaker F: Yeah, burn him. Burn him. Fatigue. Come on, Zephyr.
[00:35:27] Speaker E: Okay, now it's math time. Seven piercing. One. Fire. Flame, Whatever.
Burning.
[00:35:34] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh.
[00:35:39] Speaker B: I'm enjoying that. I turned my computer around and showed something to everybody. But while he doing his math.
[00:35:45] Speaker F: I can't believe you did that to 15 flame.
[00:35:48] Speaker B: I'm now showing Petite the calculator that has how much Health. He had left.
[00:35:52] Speaker F: What's that say, Pete?
[00:35:53] Speaker D: He had one hit point.
[00:35:55] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:35:57] Speaker A: You did it twice, Petit.
[00:36:02] Speaker E: How dare I?
Well, I don't know how mind people work, but hopefully.
[00:36:08] Speaker B: He bursts into flames as the arrow sinks itself into his chest, directly into the heart. The flames begin to billow out from the arrowhead and begin to just consume him from the inside out. He drops to his knees and then looks at Neros.
[00:36:27] Speaker F: Oh.
[00:36:28] Speaker B: And he says, make sure they remember me for who I was.
As these ravens come swirling in from everywhere and surround him. And he's gone.
[00:36:41] Speaker F: Is he your relative? Are you also at Arundson?
[00:36:46] Speaker B: It's been a while, so I'll just remind Neros this is not the first time she's seen someone right as they die.
Have ravens come to collect pots?
[00:36:53] Speaker D: Wait, who was the other one?
[00:36:54] Speaker F: Yeah, who's the other one?
[00:36:56] Speaker B: The Duergar way.
[00:36:59] Speaker D: Oh, like in the episode, like three, four.
[00:37:02] Speaker F: Oh, dang.
[00:37:05] Speaker C: And as he disappears, the bed falters also, and the mindscape is fully replaced with what looks to just be like a cozy little study filled with like library books and library shelves and desks everywhere.
And then it all fades away and we're back into the real world.
[00:37:29] Speaker E: And the second we appear in a small group right adjacent to me, the chest from the cave, what?
Pops into existence.
[00:37:40] Speaker B: What?
[00:37:42] Speaker F: What?
[00:37:42] Speaker D: What?
[00:37:43] Speaker B: What?
[00:37:43] Speaker F: We activated his trap card, I guess.
[00:37:46] Speaker D: What happened? How did you. What?
[00:37:50] Speaker E: As I can no longer hold it.
[00:37:52] Speaker A: What were you doing?
[00:37:53] Speaker F: Was it in your cloak like your.
[00:37:56] Speaker E: Would you like to know?
[00:37:57] Speaker A: Yes, I do.
[00:37:58] Speaker D: How did you do that?
[00:38:00] Speaker B: But there's no time for discussion.
[00:38:01] Speaker C: I hate this.
[00:38:02] Speaker F: I grab Zephyr and slap it.
[00:38:04] Speaker B: As you're all standing here in the plaza. There's the sound like a thousand thunderclaps from the south. And as you turn to look, the entire side of the mountain from the Kodar mountains that faces Joel is exploding in boulders and rubble. Oh, no.
A massive. A black serpentine shape makes its way out of the mountain and begins soaring through the sky.
The storm clouds parting way and making path for the largest linorm you could ever imagine.
[00:38:38] Speaker F: It's back.
[00:38:39] Speaker B: From there, this dragon makes its way towards Joel. And as you're just stunned watching, he lands perched on top of the tallest of the buildings.
Takes a deep breath in freedom.
Yes. It's so good to be back on this pathetic material plane.
I have things to attend to, little mortals.
But rest assured, I will give you the honor of surviving longer than most.
But now I think it's time for me to stretch my legs.
And he lifts off from the ground again. The force of the wind almost throwing you to your backs. On the ground, he turns to the side. And with a single breath, gale force winds imbued with firestorms level the north side of Joel.
And he takes off flying into the north.
[00:39:39] Speaker C: My apartment.
[00:39:41] Speaker B: A resistance.
That is the end of book two.
[00:39:47] Speaker C: I don't.
[00:39:49] Speaker F: So he didn't kill Fafnir. He is a liar.
He sucks.
[00:39:52] Speaker C: He.
[00:39:53] Speaker F: So what?
[00:39:54] Speaker D: How is he holding a linorm back?
[00:39:57] Speaker F: The runes on his body. And the runes on Uvaire's body maybe too.
[00:40:00] Speaker A: Geordi.
[00:40:00] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:40:01] Speaker A: So is machinations.
[00:40:05] Speaker F: Wait, who? Do you have something to do with Fafnir?
[00:40:08] Speaker A: I don't know.
[00:40:10] Speaker D: So were Arad and Uvair, like, holding this guy back?
[00:40:13] Speaker F: Oh, let's kill u and see what happens.
[00:40:15] Speaker B: What? Kill him? Kill.
[00:40:16] Speaker A: Okay, come here.
[00:40:18] Speaker D: Watch where you point that finger.
[00:40:20] Speaker F: I rolled a. I rolled a 32.
[00:40:22] Speaker B: Dear audience, it only took them 20 seconds to turn on each other.
[00:40:26] Speaker F: I rolled a 32. What's yours?
[00:40:28] Speaker D: Hey, hey, hey, guys, don't point. I'm. I'm afraid I'll lose my eyeballs if Sven starts pointing dramatically.
[00:40:35] Speaker B: Well, everybody, we're going to be going on a brief hiatus here between book two and three. We will be back soon with more exciting adventures, and when we do, all of our adventures will be level 11.
[00:40:47] Speaker F: Or most of them.
[00:40:48] Speaker D: Oh, gosh, most of them.
[00:40:51] Speaker F: If they all come.
[00:40:52] Speaker B: So you all.
[00:40:53] Speaker D: Who's not coming back?
[00:40:55] Speaker F: I don't know. Someone could die.
[00:40:56] Speaker B: As is customary, you all will get a hero point as you are leveling up.
I am so excited to move into the second half of the the story with you guys. There have been so much setup and foreshadowing here in the first half. I'm so excited to see the payoff here and the second half, we will see you all there.
What is happening?
Hey, everyone. I hope you enjoyed the show today and that you enjoyed book two of the Written and the Lost. With such big developments going on in the story, we're going to take a bit of a break now. A sort of between seasons hiatus, and come back strong with some fresh new stories and adventures. We're still nailing out the exact timeline of when we'll begin releasing book three. But don't fret. In the meantime, we'll still be around. You can, of course, hang out in our discord and chat with us and other fans of the show. But in addition to that, we will still be releasing content on this channel. Watch for our end of book recap episode to come out on September 22nd. This will be a great refreshment for anyone who feels like they might have lost track of one or two story threads. Or alternatively, a great place to get a friend hooked on the show who might be intimidated by a backlog of over 100 episodes to get caught up on. Either way, make sure not to miss that show because we'll be announcing the exact return date for our intrepid adventurers in that episode. We'll also be giving the date to watch for another bonus episode where we'll have a retrospective look at Book two to and discuss some storytelling considerations, behind the scenes talk, and even have a section to answer your questions. Yes, you so if there's anything you've been burning to ask us about either about the show or the network as a whole, let us know.
