[00:00:05] Speaker A: You are listening to an atomic broadcasting production. So sit back, relax and enjoy the feature presentation. And remember, do your part. Such as, like, comment rate. And don't forget to tell a friend to tune in for an atomic time. [00:00:29] Speaker B: Hey, guys, just one last reminder that the written will be at tremendicon this weekend, May 30 to June 1. We really hope to see you there. And without further ado, let's get to the episode. Now, where did we leave off? [00:00:47] Speaker A: Ah, yes. [00:00:50] Speaker B: From the Resistance member in Alward's apartment, Einar deduced that the necromancer in the catacombs must be Mother, the matriarch of the Aerodsons. Before entering the catacombs themselves, Val communed with spirits outside the entrance, learning that there were legion, restless spirits within. Before Rustopher reported a wounded woman just inside the catacombs. [00:01:21] Speaker C: So have you guys seen that? That promotional thing? [00:01:24] Speaker D: What promotional thing? [00:01:25] Speaker C: For Duolingo, where they killed and they're like. And then they brought him back because they, like, faked his death. [00:01:31] Speaker D: Oh, is that what happened? I saw, like, a post, like, of them doing, like, a ritual. [00:01:35] Speaker C: Well, they ended up killing all of them. But, like, I thought of this, guys. [00:01:41] Speaker E: You know, it's illegal and a tax fraud. [00:01:43] Speaker C: Let's kill Jordy. Oh, and like, maybe three sessions later, we bring him back. [00:01:50] Speaker D: Who's gonna GM without him? [00:01:51] Speaker E: They are about to release the necromancer class. [00:01:54] Speaker D: Wait, that's a class? That's a fake death. [00:01:56] Speaker E: It's in the playtest. [00:01:58] Speaker C: It's a fake death. We bring him back and then we get publicity. [00:02:01] Speaker D: Yeah, okay, but wait, wait, wait, wait. Hear me out, because this is on. [00:02:05] Speaker E: Mike, can you come back with a. [00:02:06] Speaker D: Moment and people will hear our plan? How about we really kill him and then bring him back? [00:02:10] Speaker C: Well, it could be like a murder mystery. [00:02:12] Speaker D: He's gonna come back, Abby. [00:02:14] Speaker E: Okay, hear me out. He dies, comes back, he only wears black, and he's got a mullet. [00:02:20] Speaker B: Now, I don't know about the mullet, but an eyepatch for sure. [00:02:23] Speaker D: The mullet's the only. Wait, when was that ever? [00:02:26] Speaker C: He changes his name to Joe. [00:02:27] Speaker D: R D. Joe Rody. [00:02:30] Speaker B: I go by Jim. [00:02:31] Speaker C: Joe Rodey. Jim. [00:02:33] Speaker E: Jim. [00:02:34] Speaker C: Gum. It's pronounced Jim. Well, yeah, not Gum. Like Jif. Kif. [00:02:41] Speaker E: That actually reminded me. Jordy has a really good Kryptonian name because Jor? L already exists, so it'd be just Jordan Jordy. [00:02:52] Speaker B: Sam, you can't go spreading my real identity as a Kryptonian on the show. [00:02:58] Speaker C: Hey, full disclosure. If we Give you a bunch of names. One of them. You know you can't be all of them. One of them may be true, but it's like saying my Social Security number is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9. It's not even that many numbers. Somebody's is out there. [00:03:14] Speaker D: No. [00:03:15] Speaker C: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. No. How many numbers are in a Social Security number? For our non American friends, it's seven. [00:03:24] Speaker B: It's like a phone number, but it's a different pattern. [00:03:26] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:03:27] Speaker C: Ooh, I wonder who's. I wonder if there's anybody out there that's phone number is the same as their Social Security. [00:03:31] Speaker F: It's eight. [00:03:33] Speaker B: Oh, it's nine. [00:03:34] Speaker C: Sorry, that was my original thing. [00:03:37] Speaker E: Yes, you're right. [00:03:38] Speaker C: Oh, I thought it was three, two, three. [00:03:39] Speaker F: Oh, it is nine. We all live in America, we should know this. Do you know your Social Security number? [00:03:51] Speaker D: I do. [00:03:51] Speaker C: Do you know your words? [00:03:52] Speaker B: Now that we've revealed that we are all non American citizens. [00:03:57] Speaker D: Don't say that tomorrow. [00:03:57] Speaker F: Don't say that. [00:03:58] Speaker C: We can drop the veil. [00:03:59] Speaker D: Everyone gonna get moved. [00:04:01] Speaker C: We're all Brits. [00:04:03] Speaker B: Good. I might. [00:04:05] Speaker F: He's Australian. [00:04:06] Speaker C: Wrong continent. [00:04:08] Speaker B: Speaking of going down under you were all descending a flight of stairs into the catacombs beneath Joel. [00:04:16] Speaker D: It's like he planned this one. [00:04:19] Speaker B: I never plan anything. Let me roll up an NPC real quick. [00:04:24] Speaker E: Let's all be Australian. [00:04:25] Speaker C: You know those grabbers that old people have? That was how he had much of a reach. [00:04:32] Speaker B: The air is cool and close as you begin to descend beneath the cobbled streets of Joel. This isn't the first time that most of the party has been underneath Joel. Back way back when you had descended beneath the arena into the ruins of Torren Day under the foundations of Joel. But this time is different. This is simultaneously a newer and feels older construction. Whereas the ruins of old Thassilon felt ancient, they also felt at the same time un aging. As if Joel itself would come and go and Tornday would still be there unchanged. As you descend to the crypts beneath the town, everything just feels. There's a sense of decay, a sense of just everything here is all passing away. [00:05:27] Speaker C: They don't make them like they used to. [00:05:31] Speaker F: How many catacombs have you been in? [00:05:34] Speaker B: I can't count them. [00:05:37] Speaker E: Is it a very common place for your work? Your old work, your work? [00:05:41] Speaker C: Well, usually they are alive first and then I don't do that anymore. So I. That. That life is gone. [00:05:49] Speaker E: Okay. [00:05:50] Speaker C: I don't think about it. It's gone. How far are these stairs? [00:05:55] Speaker B: How long Are these stairs only about 20ft before they make a sharp turn to the left, and you find yourselves in the front room of the catacombs. There's tables and tools and equipment that seem like they were used for preparing the dead to be interred. Somewhat of like a mortician's office, although it seems like it's not really. It wasn't a room designed for that. It's been more repurposed for that. And on the opposite side of the room, you see a woman leaning up against an open coffin, and she's got a bleeding gash in her side. [00:06:36] Speaker C: Do we recognize this woman? [00:06:38] Speaker B: You do not. [00:06:39] Speaker D: Okay. [00:06:41] Speaker F: Does she look friendly? [00:06:43] Speaker B: She looks in pain. And as soon as she notices you coming down the stairs, she starts scrabbling for a hand crossbow just at her side. [00:06:50] Speaker A: Don't. [00:06:51] Speaker B: Don't come any closer. [00:06:53] Speaker C: My needles at the ready. [00:06:56] Speaker A: Not even to patch your side. [00:07:00] Speaker B: Who are you? What are you doing down here? [00:07:04] Speaker F: We could ask you the same thing. [00:07:08] Speaker E: Am I gonna use your words? Yes. Are you okay? [00:07:16] Speaker B: Do I look okay? [00:07:17] Speaker E: No. [00:07:18] Speaker C: Yes. [00:07:19] Speaker E: Would you like help? Maybe first? Why are you here? [00:07:27] Speaker F: I just asked that. [00:07:28] Speaker E: Oh. Sorry. [00:07:29] Speaker C: Well, she didn't answer. [00:07:32] Speaker A: How about what gave you that gash? [00:07:37] Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know if I should tell you. [00:07:41] Speaker A: Undead. [00:07:43] Speaker B: You're dead. [00:07:44] Speaker A: No. Undead. [00:07:46] Speaker E: You were the. You. [00:07:48] Speaker C: You dead? [00:07:49] Speaker B: No. No. [00:07:51] Speaker E: I was gonna start walking towards. [00:07:53] Speaker A: Was it a zombie or a skeleton? [00:07:55] Speaker B: Stop. She tries to lift the hand crossbow, but, like, as she's picking it up, she pulls the trigger, and the bolt just skitters across the floor. [00:08:02] Speaker A: On the. [00:08:03] Speaker E: I just want to help with your wound. And Val sets her glaive off against the wall. [00:08:11] Speaker C: Seeing that she's not a threat, I sheath my needles as Vahl's walking up to her. [00:08:17] Speaker D: Would you say we've been conversing with this person for about a minute? [00:08:20] Speaker B: Sure. [00:08:20] Speaker D: I got a 40 something on my biographical eye skill. [00:08:27] Speaker B: Now, remind me, that is a set DC, right? [00:08:30] Speaker D: Yeah, it's a DC30 society check. I rolled a 17 plus 118 plus 22. So 40 exact or 50. [00:08:39] Speaker B: The numbers flew by, but either of those would be a critical success. [00:08:43] Speaker D: So on a critical success, I learned the creatures profession, their specialty within their profession, a major accomplishment or controversy from their career. I also learned the nation or settlement where they live, as well as the district in a city large enough to have districts. In addition, I learned their nation or settlement where they spent their informative years. [00:09:02] Speaker C: You're gonna creep her out. [00:09:05] Speaker B: So she's a native of Joel. She actually grew up on the shores of the Iron Archipelago and has been working as a fisher woman. Fisherwoman. She's working. She fishes. She fishes for a living. And has been doing so for the past seven to ten years. Major controversy she was involved in. I mean, it doesn't take a genius like Albert is to figure out that she is a member of the resistance. Okay. [00:09:33] Speaker F: Oh, seriously? More of those people. [00:09:37] Speaker E: So Val's put her glaive aside and she's going to just start approaching cautiously. [00:09:42] Speaker B: But still going with you, having set your glaive aside and approaching presumably. Kind of open hands. I'm here to help. Kind of posture. She visibly relaxes. [00:09:52] Speaker E: I'm just going to touch your side. Or I assume with all the blood. [00:09:58] Speaker B: You notice your eyes flick down to the symbol of. Let's see, you have a symbol of pharasma around your neck, right? I do, yeah. Her eyes flick down to that symbol, look back up to you, and then she just nods and holds her hands free of the gash on her side. [00:10:15] Speaker E: Oh, that's a nasty looking one. Do I have. While I'm like healing it, do I know what is that just like a blade wound? Or could it be something like talons or claws or something? [00:10:28] Speaker B: Do you have warfare lore? [00:10:31] Speaker E: No, I have music and bone. Psychopath. [00:10:38] Speaker B: Go ahead and make a medicine check. [00:10:40] Speaker E: I'm okay at that. [00:10:42] Speaker A: I have warfare lore. [00:10:44] Speaker E: Mm. [00:10:45] Speaker B: You'd have to get closer. [00:10:46] Speaker E: Einar 15. [00:10:49] Speaker B: That's good enough. With a 15, you're able to identify that it was a blade of some kind. You're not entirely sure what size of blade, what kind of weapon, but she's definitely been cut by a bladed weapon. [00:11:01] Speaker E: Ah, this. As she's like putting her hand starts glowing and she sets it on her side, which is going to heal her. 30 hit points. [00:11:12] Speaker B: Wow. Full health. [00:11:17] Speaker E: Were you attacked in here? This place isn't very well known. It took us it's a while to figure it out. [00:11:26] Speaker B: She gets to her feet, physically stable, but still mentally shaken, and she just. You're a follower of Pharasma? [00:11:36] Speaker E: I am, yes. I'm a champion of Phraz and Shelon. [00:11:41] Speaker B: I have reason to believe there's a necromancer in these crits. I followed her here and she lashed out at me. [00:11:49] Speaker E: Was it okay? It was. It was. This person, this lady. Really old. [00:11:57] Speaker B: Yes. [00:11:59] Speaker E: Oh, okay. Thank you. Got. Wait, follow up question. Was she an Arudson person? Are you an Ardson person? [00:12:08] Speaker D: No, Val. She's with the Resistance. [00:12:10] Speaker E: Oh, that's great. We're with the Resistance. That's Albert Right there. [00:12:14] Speaker B: She relaxes a lot. [00:12:17] Speaker E: What? [00:12:18] Speaker F: Did we ever officially state that we're with any sort of resistance? [00:12:22] Speaker D: No, but apparently I figurehead in the resistance. [00:12:25] Speaker E: Yeah, and we are resisting. [00:12:28] Speaker F: Yeah, but we're not part of that resistance. [00:12:30] Speaker E: Well, yeah, that's true, but we did. The resistance did take us here. They said, hey, check out the bridge. [00:12:36] Speaker F: I mean, I guess, yeah, okay, whatever. [00:12:38] Speaker B: So they sent you to take care of the necromancer? [00:12:41] Speaker E: They mentioned it to us. And we decided on our own terms that we would look into it because we don't like. We don't like necromancers. [00:12:49] Speaker B: Me neither. [00:12:50] Speaker E: No, and we also don't like this supposed mother. [00:12:54] Speaker B: Yeah, she's really freaky. [00:12:57] Speaker E: I've heard. [00:12:58] Speaker C: I agree. [00:13:00] Speaker A: Einar walks up and seeing that she's healed, which way she go. [00:13:11] Speaker B: Deeper in, into the next room. Be careful that the footing is difficult. [00:13:18] Speaker E: So she is here right now, that scared. [00:13:23] Speaker A: Maybe you should get to safety. Maybe inform the others that not to let anyone else come down here or leave. And Einar just starts walking towards where she pointed. [00:13:37] Speaker C: Did she do this to you? [00:13:38] Speaker B: Yes. [00:13:39] Speaker C: Okay. Did you already say that? Sorry, I'm looking at these coffins. [00:13:44] Speaker E: Alright, well, like he said, you should. We're gonna head in and you could probably head back for safety or even inform your compatriots where this actually is. [00:13:53] Speaker B: I'll. I'll inform the guard. That way, if. If the worst happens, then they'll know. [00:13:58] Speaker E: Are the. Are the guard in town good people? [00:14:02] Speaker B: I mean, they're people. [00:14:05] Speaker E: I wasn't sure if they were all owned by the Aradsons or something. [00:14:08] Speaker D: No, that's just the enforcers. [00:14:10] Speaker E: It's just the Enforcers. Yeah. [00:14:11] Speaker C: Are there any guards that are part of the rebel revolution? That's not the right word. [00:14:16] Speaker F: Resistance. [00:14:16] Speaker C: Resistance. [00:14:17] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:14:19] Speaker C: Can you tell one of them? [00:14:20] Speaker B: Yes, that. [00:14:21] Speaker C: Yeah. Good. [00:14:22] Speaker E: Okay. Grab my glaive. Well, it was nice meeting you. [00:14:28] Speaker A: Question, how far has Einar progressed? Because he has been walking the whole time you guys have been asking these questions. [00:14:35] Speaker D: Einar has no. [00:14:36] Speaker A: Chill, Einar. When I said Einar started walking, he didn't stop. [00:14:42] Speaker B: So as this conversation has been happening then, Einar, you have gotten to the south side of this room that has been made into a sort of ad hoc mortuary. And on the south side, there's a few stone steps that go up with a couple pillars on the side. And in the room beyond, there's a tight pathway of stepping stones curving off to the right. And the rest of the room beyond, as it goes out into darkness, is just A bed of bones and skulls. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Excellent. [00:15:19] Speaker C: Did we catch her name? [00:15:21] Speaker E: No. [00:15:22] Speaker B: No, you didn't. She says as she goes upstairs. [00:15:24] Speaker E: I'm gonna hustle the ketchup. [00:15:26] Speaker C: Zafir's gonna drop the dead body he's looking at. [00:15:30] Speaker E: Drop it. [00:15:30] Speaker D: Rises from. [00:15:31] Speaker F: Why are you holding it? [00:15:33] Speaker C: Don't ask questions. [00:15:34] Speaker F: I already did. [00:15:35] Speaker C: He's going after Einar. [00:15:37] Speaker D: I2 I'm gonna stay in this. No, I'm also gonna. [00:15:41] Speaker F: Elbert, get over here. [00:15:43] Speaker A: Is it pitch black or is there some light? [00:15:46] Speaker B: So there are two torches in the makeshift mortuary that you're currently standing on. The edge of. Both of the torches, the flames seem normal, but they're somehow just casting a sickly green hue. This torchlight just barely comes to an end about five feet into this next room. So most of that room is just pitch black. So anyone with dark vision can see, albeit in grayscale. But if you have low light vision or regular vision, you're not able to see more than 5 or 10ft into the room. [00:16:20] Speaker D: I was about to ask, because I believe everyone but Einar and Val. [00:16:26] Speaker E: I have it. [00:16:26] Speaker D: Val has it. [00:16:27] Speaker E: I have dark soul. [00:16:27] Speaker D: So everyone but Einar. [00:16:30] Speaker E: That's a lot of bones to just kind of be out. [00:16:35] Speaker C: Don't you have a lore about this type of thing? [00:16:39] Speaker F: Not this kind of boneyard. [00:16:42] Speaker E: I mean, like, were these. Are there broken, like, coffins all around, or like there's just bones all over the ground? It's a catacomb, I guess, so. Doesn't feel. [00:16:55] Speaker B: Val, go ahead and make a religion check. [00:16:58] Speaker E: I'm usually good at that. Oh, 37. [00:17:04] Speaker B: With a 37. You are confident that there are no accepted religions or even well known minor cults in the area that would bury their dead or place them in a room like this. And thinking back on it, from what you've heard about the catacombs, this room should actually be about 20 to 30ft deep. And the stepping stones are actually pillars that you would use to cross. So the fact that it looks like there's stepping stones in a shallow pool of bones means that there are pillars in a very deep pit full of bones. [00:17:42] Speaker E: Ah, so they've been gathering bones and tossing them into this pit. Um hmm. So if we were to step out there, we. Except we can cross on those pillar bits, he said. [00:17:56] Speaker B: Yes. [00:17:57] Speaker E: Okay. [00:17:58] Speaker C: I don't think they're collecting the bones. I think they're collecting bodies. And this is what's left of them. [00:18:03] Speaker E: Well, they're looking to raise an undead army, Right? So they could be collecting them all. [00:18:07] Speaker A: In one place, this will be a good time to say that I have blind fight. [00:18:13] Speaker D: Oh, what's that? [00:18:14] Speaker A: Do my battle instincts make me more aware of concealed or invisible opponents? I don't need to succeed in a flat check to target concealed creatures. I'm not off guard to creatures that are hidden from me. And I need only succeed in a DC5 flat check to target a hidden creature. [00:18:35] Speaker D: That's cool. [00:18:36] Speaker E: Nice. So we can follow these bits and we can cross over to the right there. But just be careful not to step off, because I'm not. You know, I've never stepped in a pile of bones, so I'm not sure how easy it is to start sinking, because in bones. So, yeah, I don't know if it's like an immediate fall or if it'd be like quicksand or slow sand or something. [00:19:03] Speaker F: I don't want to find out. [00:19:04] Speaker E: Yeah, so just watch your step. [00:19:07] Speaker C: Can I push ahead and cross in front of them? [00:19:09] Speaker B: Is anyone in the party not trained in acrobatics? [00:19:15] Speaker A: Me. [00:19:16] Speaker E: Me. [00:19:17] Speaker C: I'm an expert. [00:19:18] Speaker D: Me. I don't like playing an acrobatics thing. [00:19:24] Speaker A: Stop it. [00:19:25] Speaker F: I don't like it. [00:19:27] Speaker B: All right, so. [00:19:28] Speaker F: He's so evil. [00:19:29] Speaker B: Right now, the majority of the party is looking at these stones with the information that Val had provided that these are actually 20 to 30 foot pillars that just sense of picturing how high they are. You're kind of getting a little bit of vertigo. And Zafir just pushes to the front and just starts casually walking across the stones. [00:19:47] Speaker C: Can I do hopscotch? [00:19:48] Speaker E: Sophia, be care. [00:19:49] Speaker C: I've trained for this. [00:19:50] Speaker E: Sophia, be careful. There could be undead monsters over there. [00:19:53] Speaker C: Don't worry about it. [00:19:54] Speaker F: I never thought I'd have to train in acrobatics. It hardly ever comes up. [00:19:58] Speaker E: Well, here I go to you. [00:20:00] Speaker B: If you are not trained in acrobatics, I'm gonna need you to roll. [00:20:04] Speaker F: Oh, come on. [00:20:06] Speaker E: Okay, I got a 12. [00:20:07] Speaker F: I was test rolling. [00:20:09] Speaker E: I have a plus one, see which. [00:20:11] Speaker F: One I want to use. [00:20:12] Speaker C: I'm actually quite curious to see what I would have rolled. [00:20:14] Speaker B: Val, you are able to just barely make it to the other side of the path. [00:20:19] Speaker F: You got a what? [00:20:19] Speaker E: 12. All right, guys. He should be fine, right? Yeah. Be careful. It's a little tricky. [00:20:28] Speaker B: 18. Einar, you make it across a little bit more comfortably. [00:20:33] Speaker A: Long legs. [00:20:35] Speaker E: How do you feel, Neros? You want like a rope or something? [00:20:40] Speaker A: You want me to carry you with my plus 22 athletics? [00:20:44] Speaker F: Actually, yes, please. That would be great compared to what I rolled. [00:20:49] Speaker A: I can. I Go back and do that. [00:20:54] Speaker F: Can he do that, please? [00:20:55] Speaker B: Pretty quickly. Let's make this interesting. [00:20:57] Speaker F: No, I don't want to make it more interesting. [00:21:00] Speaker B: I'll let you carry Neros with you. But we'll do the old fashioned. We'll use 5e disadvantage on that. So we'll give you the misfortune effect. So you have to roll again. If you succeed on the second attempt, then you succeed. But if you fail on the second attempt, you will both fail. [00:21:17] Speaker F: You want a chance? [00:21:18] Speaker E: What's your bonus? Spin 13 to acrobatics. [00:21:21] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:21] Speaker E: I thought you said you weren't trained. [00:21:22] Speaker A: I'm not. [00:21:23] Speaker E: Oh, you have untrained proficiency or whatever that. Whatever that feat is. [00:21:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:27] Speaker E: Nice. Okay, I'm guidance. Wait, that means you can't fail unless you get a nat one. [00:21:33] Speaker A: Possibly. [00:21:33] Speaker B: Val just succeeded on a 12 then. [00:21:36] Speaker A: Yes. [00:21:36] Speaker E: Yeah. GG easy. [00:21:39] Speaker F: No, it's not. [00:21:39] Speaker A: Stop. [00:21:40] Speaker F: Shut up. [00:21:41] Speaker B: How funny this would be if you rolled. [00:21:42] Speaker D: I am giving you guidance just to be safe. [00:21:44] Speaker A: Okay. [00:21:45] Speaker D: It's a plus one. [00:21:48] Speaker A: A seven and a 17. [00:21:50] Speaker D: So you got to get the seven. [00:21:51] Speaker A: Yep. But seven plus 13 plus one plus one, that's 21. [00:21:58] Speaker B: So I'll say that is a success. I don't know how you guys would want to narrate what that looks like. [00:22:04] Speaker F: Uppies. [00:22:07] Speaker A: Ainar just sees Neros frozen on the edge perhaps. [00:22:12] Speaker F: Yeah, sure, sure. Just a little bit of insight. I rolled a five and my acrobatics is a two too. So I was not. I was going to fall into bones. [00:22:30] Speaker B: So we could have it start then of Neros like starts across the path and like misses her footing and starts to slip and Einar catches her. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Yeah, you just. You feel yourself starting to fall into the bones. And then you just feel this large hand grab your shoulder and pull you back. And then you're small. You just feel someone quickly pick you up and quickly hop the rest of the way across and set you down. And nothing. [00:23:08] Speaker F: You're carrying her one arm around her middle and just like a child, hoist her up. [00:23:16] Speaker A: And he sets you down and he says nothing. He doesn't even look down at you. [00:23:19] Speaker D: Now compare that to the six total that I rolled. [00:23:24] Speaker A: Oh no. Oh no. [00:23:25] Speaker C: Meanwhile, everybody was so focused on Nero's. [00:23:29] Speaker F: I forgot you hadn't said yours yet. [00:23:33] Speaker B: Alward begins stepping across the path and then steps for one stone. And then just as his foot is stepping on it, he realizes that that wasn't a stone, it was a skull. And your foot slips into the bones and you go about ankle deep into the Bones. [00:23:49] Speaker C: The fear jumps out. [00:23:51] Speaker B: There's a crunch, and then you just hear the sounds of rattling. [00:23:58] Speaker E: Oh, no. [00:23:59] Speaker D: Oh, no. [00:23:59] Speaker B: And alward, you feel something closing around your ankle. [00:24:03] Speaker D: Guys, guys, guys, guys. And I'm just gonna keep trying to. [00:24:06] Speaker A: Einar, start jumping back. [00:24:09] Speaker B: We're gonna roll for initiative. [00:24:11] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:24:12] Speaker F: I don't have anything to help you either. [00:24:15] Speaker D: I think it's only fair I take that six as my initiative. [00:24:19] Speaker B: That's fair. [00:24:19] Speaker C: I wasn't lying when I said Zafir jumps out. Does the fact that I'm an expert in acrobatics. [00:24:26] Speaker B: I'll let you acrobatics for your initiative. [00:24:29] Speaker C: Okay. Okay. [00:24:32] Speaker B: 34 INAR, 29 VAL, 16 NEROS. [00:24:40] Speaker F: I also got a 29, but you can go first. I'll let you. [00:24:45] Speaker D: Thank you. [00:24:46] Speaker B: All right, Zafir, you actually do go first as you jump back out onto the path. [00:24:50] Speaker C: So I hear that crunch, and I jump. [00:24:53] Speaker B: So you've moved all the way back to the front of the path, and you're right next to Alward. Yes. [00:24:58] Speaker C: And reaching out a hand. I want to try to grab him. [00:25:04] Speaker B: Okay. So you can grab Alward easily. As you grab him, you kind of pull and tug, and you feel like something is resisting. If you'd like, you can try to make an attempt to pull him out of the bones and up onto the path with you. [00:25:19] Speaker C: Do you value your ankle very much? [00:25:21] Speaker D: Yes. It's how I walk. [00:25:22] Speaker C: I'm going to pull him anyway. [00:25:25] Speaker B: Go ahead and make an athletics check. [00:25:27] Speaker C: Okay. [00:25:28] Speaker F: Do you value your ankle? [00:25:31] Speaker D: I guess I don't value my ankle enough. [00:25:34] Speaker C: Hold on, hold on. I have. I think I have a card. [00:25:37] Speaker D: Is that a seven or a one? [00:25:38] Speaker C: That's a one. [00:25:39] Speaker F: Oh, no. [00:25:42] Speaker C: I'm gonna spend a card so I can reroll, because I'm not taking that one. Ah. I quit. I'm gonna leave. I rolled another one. [00:25:53] Speaker D: No. [00:25:53] Speaker E: Oh, no. [00:25:55] Speaker D: It's Petit's turn to go cry in the corner. [00:25:58] Speaker B: It is fate. So, Zafir, it was nice being Alward. [00:26:02] Speaker A: Guess. [00:26:03] Speaker B: Zafir nimbly hopscotches his way back over to Alward. He's like, do you value your ankle? Before Alward has a chance to answer, Zafir grabs him, starts to pull, and Alward kind of, like, instinctively leans back and just pulls Zafir into the bones with him. [00:26:18] Speaker F: Oh, my gosh. [00:26:19] Speaker D: I'm sorry, Zafir. You lunged at me. [00:26:23] Speaker B: Zafir. [00:26:24] Speaker C: Not that scary. [00:26:25] Speaker B: You feel bony hands wrapping around your ankles as well. [00:26:29] Speaker C: Dang it. I don't think I can hit these with Needles. [00:26:32] Speaker B: You have one action remaining. [00:26:33] Speaker C: Oh, I have one action, then I'm going to pull out my needles. [00:26:39] Speaker B: All right. [00:26:40] Speaker E: Now he's dangerous to pick up. Be careful. [00:26:43] Speaker B: Einar, you're up next. [00:26:45] Speaker A: He's going to jump across again. I'm gonna have to roll again. [00:26:52] Speaker F: Which one are you trying to grab for? [00:26:55] Speaker A: Hold. [00:26:56] Speaker E: He's rolling. He's rolling just to jump over there right now, he's not even rolling up. [00:27:07] Speaker F: You used all your luck on grabbing. [00:27:09] Speaker A: That was a 13. Not another natural one. [00:27:11] Speaker E: I was kind of hoping it was another. [00:27:16] Speaker B: He. [00:27:17] Speaker A: He jumps across to where he can reach both of them, and he's going to reach down and grab and wrench them back with his mastery in athletics. [00:27:30] Speaker B: With a master in athletics, I'll let you do that. But you're Gonna take a minus 2 on your check to do both of them at the same time. [00:27:38] Speaker A: That works. So it's only a plus 20. [00:27:45] Speaker F: Oh, my gosh. [00:27:45] Speaker E: Don't get too cocky. Please don't. [00:27:47] Speaker A: I know. 31. [00:27:50] Speaker B: So with that, you grab both of them and you pull back, and you're successfully able to pull both of them up out of the bones. [00:27:57] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:27:58] Speaker A: Go. [00:27:58] Speaker B: Now, this path is only made for one person to walk at a time. I'm gonna need a reflex save for you to keep your footing. Pulling two people out at once. [00:28:05] Speaker F: Oh, my gosh. [00:28:09] Speaker A: Plus 18. [00:28:11] Speaker F: I'm so stressed out right now. [00:28:13] Speaker A: This is great, because I'm an expert in reflex. [00:28:18] Speaker E: You can do it, man. [00:28:20] Speaker A: 31. [00:28:21] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Val and Val and Neros watching from the other side. They don't even see you waver as you just pull the two of them out and just set them down on the path next to you. [00:28:34] Speaker A: With his final action, he's going to redraw his sword, because you would have had to. She put it away. [00:28:44] Speaker B: So you ran over, pulled him up out of the bones, set him on the path. Pull your sword out, Neros, it's your turn. [00:28:50] Speaker F: I'm having a heart attack. [00:28:52] Speaker C: Is that a free action? [00:28:53] Speaker D: That is a free action. [00:28:54] Speaker B: Add it to the list. [00:28:55] Speaker F: Having a heart attack is a free action. Now, I don't have anything I can do. [00:29:01] Speaker B: As you're watching now, Aeonar has just pulled the two of them out of the path before you've had a chance to jump into action. And you see the skeletal arms kind of just reaching for the path, kind of just like grabbing at those stones and then just kind of sliding back down into the pile of bones. So it seems if you're on the path, you're Safe. [00:29:25] Speaker F: Okay. I have nothing I can do. I can throw them a rope just in case, but that's all I can do. [00:29:33] Speaker B: Would you like to throw them a rope, or do you want to just wait your turn, like, delay your turn? [00:29:38] Speaker F: I'll just delay. [00:29:40] Speaker B: All right, Val. [00:29:42] Speaker E: I'll do the same. Val's just kind of hanging with Neros. It's like. I think they'll be fine. Good job, Einar. That was nearest. That was pretty intense. Watch. [00:29:52] Speaker B: All right. The bones take their turn, and they just start to settle down and relax. And all of that. Building clattering just settles to silence. Alward, it's your turn. [00:30:07] Speaker D: Thank you. Zephir and Einar, that was. They have really strong grip for no muscles. I'm gonna try to make my way across to safety. Is that another check? [00:30:19] Speaker A: I. Einar, why don't you let Einar carry Einar just puts his sword back and grabs your shoulder. [00:30:27] Speaker D: Hey, hey, now that's not your turn. [00:30:30] Speaker B: I was just imagining, you know, like, where you have those, like, ropes along a narrow path that you use for balance. I was just imagining Alward just, like, grabbing onto Einar's clothing and just using him to balance as he goes down the path. [00:30:42] Speaker F: Is yelling at my. Yelling at my squad members. A free action. [00:30:47] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:48] Speaker F: Let Einar carry you, you idiot. [00:30:52] Speaker D: I can't. I can do this. [00:30:54] Speaker F: No, you just proved that you can't. We just had to rescue you and the person who tried to save you. Let Einar carry you, lward. [00:31:02] Speaker D: I look up at Eidar and I'm. [00:31:03] Speaker F: Like, think about your mother. [00:31:05] Speaker D: Please do. Please carry me with dignity. [00:31:12] Speaker F: Bridal style. And then Zafir, over your shoulder, fireman. [00:31:23] Speaker D: Oh, I'm good. I'm good. [00:31:24] Speaker A: Have Alward underneath like a barrel. And Zafir on my shoulder. [00:31:29] Speaker C: Dignity, Zafir pounding at your shoulder. I don't need help. [00:31:35] Speaker D: But you've never been so tall. [00:31:38] Speaker C: I didn't want uppies. [00:31:42] Speaker F: That's right. He did not ask for uppies. He does not consent to uppies. Neros is not losing you to a bunch of bones. It's not happening. [00:31:51] Speaker D: The bones are calling. [00:31:53] Speaker A: No, Einar, when you say with dignity, he just looks at you for a moment and is trying to consider. Trying to think of. What does that mean, mean? [00:32:04] Speaker F: Obviously, he wants a piggyback ride. [00:32:07] Speaker D: I mean, I could go for a piggyback ride. [00:32:10] Speaker A: He just quickly sweeps you up into a fireman carry and starts going across. [00:32:18] Speaker E: It's slow motion, like Shrek and Fiona. [00:32:20] Speaker C: Y sweat everything off your br. [00:32:27] Speaker F: I say that with love. Donkey's my favorite character. [00:32:30] Speaker C: Understandable. [00:32:31] Speaker A: Five plus 13. [00:32:33] Speaker B: All right, and finally, the whole group is now across that pathway and into the next room. [00:32:41] Speaker E: Good job, everyone. [00:32:42] Speaker C: As soon as Einar carries outward across the threshold, Zafir is going to turn around back at the, like, the beginning of that path to the other room, and he's just going to lean down and hover his hand over the thing of bones. [00:32:56] Speaker E: Don't do that. [00:32:57] Speaker C: Target to the space where he fell in and he's gonna cast. Or is it frostbite out of spite? [00:33:06] Speaker B: Frostbite and just ice crystals and frost collect on the bones. But there doesn't seem to be any reaction. [00:33:17] Speaker C: I was upset. We can move on now. [00:33:19] Speaker E: I understand. Well, actually, give me a second here. Val's gonna go up to the edge. And can I do, like, a religion check on what this was exactly? [00:33:27] Speaker B: Yeah. Are you an expert or master in religion? [00:33:30] Speaker E: I am a master. [00:33:31] Speaker B: You're a master. So with this context, you wouldn't need to roll. You actually would recognize from what you witnessed, it looks like the spirits of those who were buried. Air quotes here. Are not happy. There's the restless dead in this pile of bones, and they were just lashing out an offense at the indignity of being stepped on. [00:33:54] Speaker E: Is there anything I can do for them? [00:33:57] Speaker B: Yes. As a follower of Pharasma, you know some simple prayers and such that you can use to just bring some peace to the situation. And because you are a Pharasma follower, I'll give you a plus two circumstance bonus on that check. [00:34:11] Speaker E: Oh, cool. I was also, like, I do have that skill fee. I could talk to these spirits. [00:34:16] Speaker B: Not today. [00:34:17] Speaker E: Oh, is it once per day? Yes. [00:34:18] Speaker B: You'll have to come back tomorrow. [00:34:21] Speaker E: I'll talk to you tomorrow. [00:34:22] Speaker D: We'll just sleep in the crib. [00:34:23] Speaker E: Don't talk to me right now. Wait five more hours. [00:34:27] Speaker D: Abby, it's fine. [00:34:28] Speaker C: No. [00:34:30] Speaker F: Thou does not sleep in graveyards. [00:34:32] Speaker D: It's not a graveyard. It's a crib. [00:34:33] Speaker F: It's a catacomb. It's the same thing. [00:34:36] Speaker E: 40. [00:34:36] Speaker B: 40. Okay. That's a critical success. So, Val, you go up and you say some simple rites and prayers. And that, like, pitch black darkness suddenly just lowers, kind of gives way into just gloomy dimness. And you realize that the torchlight was being unnaturally stopped at the edge of the room just from the oppressive malice in there. [00:35:02] Speaker C: Should have done that to begin with. [00:35:05] Speaker E: Maybe. Maybe she's just kind of squatting at the edge there and finishing up her prayers and then stands up alright, if you don't mind letting me stay in the front so I can keep looking out for stuff like this. That would be good, Zafir. Not that I don't trust your prowess. [00:35:28] Speaker C: Well, if you need any hopscotch, I'm your man. [00:35:31] Speaker E: Yeah, I learned recently I'm not great at hopscotch, so I trust you. [00:35:36] Speaker A: And apparently I'm better at it than I thought. [00:35:40] Speaker C: You're a natural. [00:35:42] Speaker E: Some people are born with the gift of hopscotch. [00:35:45] Speaker C: Some of us have it thrust upon us. [00:35:47] Speaker A: And some just have long legs. [00:35:50] Speaker B: Now, in this room that you've just entered, it appears to be more of a. So you know how we described this area as being like the Parisian catacombs, where it's just like, you know, you kind of just tuck the bodies into spots and there's just bones everywhere. This room seems to be more of a ceremonial burial chamber. There are rows of coffins, sort of sarcophagi kind of situations leading down this elongated hallway of a room. The southern side has collapsed and does not seem to be passable anymore. There were stones blocking the way, but the northern side has a very ornate coffin surrounded by plinths and a few of those still green burning torches. [00:36:41] Speaker E: I'm sorry, what's on the other? What's on to the left? [00:36:44] Speaker B: Ah, yes. To the left is another opening that continues into another room. [00:36:48] Speaker E: Oh, okay. Is. Is everyone doing all right after that? Everyone good? [00:36:52] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm fine. Just my dignity. [00:36:54] Speaker E: Ah. [00:36:54] Speaker D: I just finished casting prestidigitation on my ankles. [00:36:58] Speaker E: That's fair. Near us. You doing good? [00:37:00] Speaker F: I'm fine. [00:37:02] Speaker E: Okay, so Val will start cautiously heading. I want to like. I'm gonna be looking for any more traps or any. [00:37:09] Speaker F: Gosh. [00:37:12] Speaker A: His sword. Which is drawn again just for. [00:37:16] Speaker E: Because like, did we ever figure anything out by why these are green aside from just the components, maybe? Is there something I could do just so I have a read before I walk up to them? [00:37:26] Speaker B: Yeah, go ahead and make a religion check. [00:37:28] Speaker E: I can do that. [00:37:29] Speaker F: Is this Aerodson? [00:37:31] Speaker E: It's the arid. [00:37:32] Speaker F: Is this arid? [00:37:33] Speaker E: I'm gonna spend my one hero point that I forgot to bring with me because I rolled a one. [00:37:39] Speaker F: Okay, Everyone needs to change their luck with rolling die right now. [00:37:46] Speaker E: Okay. Yeah, that's a 31. [00:37:51] Speaker B: All right. With a 31, Val, you notice that you realize that the green hue to the flames is not natural. It is not due to what is burning, but due to. There seems to be some form of ritual that's underway somewhere in the area and it's corrupting the light. [00:38:13] Speaker C: Dang. So it's not copper. [00:38:14] Speaker E: Is there anything I would know to try to counteract that ritual, or would I have to be at the ritual site? [00:38:19] Speaker B: You would have to either be closer and have some way of affecting the ritual itself, or at least know exactly what the ritual is. [00:38:28] Speaker E: Okay. And I'm not familiar with what it. Exactly. [00:38:31] Speaker C: Right. [00:38:31] Speaker E: But there shouldn't be any harmful presence from the green. It's just more of an indicator of what's happening. [00:38:37] Speaker B: Yes, it's more of an aesthetic effect of just the power that's seeping out from the ritual. [00:38:44] Speaker E: Okay. [00:38:45] Speaker D: Could an occultism check help figure out the ritual? [00:38:48] Speaker B: It could, because of the context. [00:38:50] Speaker D: I am an expert in occultism. Can I make that check? [00:38:52] Speaker B: Yeah, go for it. [00:38:58] Speaker D: 36. [00:38:59] Speaker B: Yes. So with that combined information of Val knowing it is a ritual alward, you do a little bit of thinking and observing, and you realize that the hue of the flames is a signifier of the expanse of the ritual. So how far the effects of this ritual will extend. Normally, this would be a single candle that would be lit and would turn green. So the fact that all of the torchlight in these catacombs is turning green is of some concern. [00:39:29] Speaker D: Do I know what the ritual is, though? [00:39:31] Speaker B: It has something to do with spirits and undead, but you're not exactly sure, but that part's kind of obvious. [00:39:38] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:39:39] Speaker E: So that would be an indicator that that whole pit of bones is under the effect as well. [00:39:44] Speaker A: You just hear Einar mutter. [00:39:46] Speaker E: Tall green, too. [00:39:48] Speaker A: She had an entire army of undead. [00:39:53] Speaker E: Yeah, that's what I'm figuring the pit. [00:39:55] Speaker A: Is about, not just the pit. Well, if what you're saying is true, that all the torches on indicator of how far this ritual encompasses. It's not just the pit. Well, yeah, it's every other pit that might be like it. It is every single tomb, every single sarcophagus that we have passed. That we see, that we will pass. It's the entirety, presumably, or possibly of these catacombs. Untold years of bones, of death. And she's wanting to call them all. [00:40:43] Speaker C: Are you telling me I may have to kill the people I killed already? Again, that. [00:40:48] Speaker E: Did you kill people who were buried here? [00:40:50] Speaker C: I mean, probably. [00:40:51] Speaker E: I see. Well, that's what we're here to stop, so we'll figure it out. [00:40:56] Speaker F: You sound so casual about it. [00:40:59] Speaker C: It's just necromancy. Whatever. [00:41:01] Speaker E: Well, I mean, it's part of my job is to stop these other things, and we're here together. [00:41:07] Speaker A: Yeah, but do you see her hair right in front of you. [00:41:10] Speaker E: Now do you see What? [00:41:11] Speaker A: Do you see her hair. Right in front of you now. [00:41:13] Speaker E: Oh no. [00:41:14] Speaker A: Then why are we here? Let's go. [00:41:17] Speaker C: Wait, wait. Who. Who. What is this? [00:41:20] Speaker E: It helps to know looking thing more before we go rushing in sometimes. [00:41:25] Speaker A: What's your time limit? Do you want to face all of them at once? [00:41:31] Speaker E: I don't know. [00:41:32] Speaker A: Then why are we here? What's the point? Why are we in this room? [00:41:36] Speaker E: To look and to try to learn. Because right now we don't know anything aside from undead arising. I'm usually one to rush in, but I think this could help us learn. [00:41:49] Speaker A: You know what this ritual could be. How long do you think this ritual takes to cast? [00:41:56] Speaker D: It depends. [00:41:58] Speaker C: Depending on how she can cast this ritual, she only entered about 20 minutes ago. [00:42:03] Speaker A: No, I. [00:42:04] Speaker F: Nearest that we know of. [00:42:05] Speaker A: When did you say that Gwib said that they saw necromancer going into the catacombs? [00:42:11] Speaker F: I don't remember. It could have been earlier today. Or it was yesterday. [00:42:14] Speaker A: It was yesterday. [00:42:15] Speaker C: But the girl who got stabbed, I mean, maybe she's done it twice or more. Maybe she's having trouble starting. I don't. [00:42:23] Speaker A: How often do you have to come to the catacombs to set up the ritual? [00:42:27] Speaker C: I don't know. Maybe she likes it here. [00:42:29] Speaker A: Our. [00:42:32] Speaker D: I don't know. [00:42:32] Speaker A: Is it a one and you start, or do you come back and prepare? [00:42:36] Speaker D: We do need more information for these questions, Einar. [00:42:40] Speaker A: And are you be able to gather it from this room? [00:42:42] Speaker E: We don't know, Einar. And panicking is not gonna help anything. [00:42:46] Speaker A: I'm not panicking. [00:42:47] Speaker E: Really? Because it's the vibe I'm starting to get. I'm gonna look at this. [00:42:52] Speaker C: This entire time I've been trying to scan as much information as I can without being able to read is challenging. [00:43:00] Speaker B: We do a dramatic camera like panning along, but every time there's text it's just blurred out. [00:43:08] Speaker C: I mean, if I have to translate it, I can, but you know, am I able to glean anything? [00:43:15] Speaker B: So, while the others are looking and talking, Zafir, you've noticed that all of the tombs that you've passed on your way down this hall hall are occupied. There's a body interred in those tombs. When you reach the final tomb, it is the most extravagant, most ornate coffin sarcophagus you've ever seen in your life. And it is perfectly empty and perfectly clean. [00:43:41] Speaker C: So after a while of this arguing, Zafir kind of just pops up and says, hey, guys. Not that I don't think that we can get information from nothing. But there's nothing in this coffin. I'm pretty sure something's supposed to either be here or, well, been here or will be here in the future. Can someone read this for me? [00:44:01] Speaker F: I was about to say that I was going to walk up and read it. [00:44:04] Speaker C: I don't want to have to say that out loud. [00:44:07] Speaker B: Neros, as you walk up and look at this coffin that Zafir is drawing your attention to, you're able to read the clearly engraved text over the headstone. Here lies King Aerid. [00:44:19] Speaker F: I knew it. [00:44:19] Speaker B: Yep, born. [00:44:24] Speaker E: It's scratched off. We can't really read it. [00:44:26] Speaker B: Yeah, it's like that part, that part's been faded, but the dyed portion is blank. There's never been a date etched for the death. [00:44:35] Speaker F: Seeing that it is King Aerid, I turn around to the other three that presumably might still be having a heated conversation. Guys, you might want to see this. [00:44:50] Speaker C: That's what I was saying. [00:44:52] Speaker F: Come here. [00:44:52] Speaker E: What's going on? [00:44:53] Speaker F: This is supposedly Aerid's tomb, but does it look like it's ever been occupied? There's nothing in there. And look at that. Look at the engraving. [00:45:05] Speaker E: Huh? Do it look like there ever was anything like in there? Like any indentions or anything like that? It's just. Or it's just a placeholder. [00:45:14] Speaker B: Val, with your religious training, it looks like the tomb has been prepared to inter someone but then just stopped. [00:45:23] Speaker E: I mean, they probably use it as some sort of monument to him since he's not dead to them. And this is obviously very clean and represents him not being dead. [00:45:35] Speaker C: Yeah, so when you look from the headstone and back to the coffin, you notice I'm just standing inside of it. [00:45:41] Speaker E: Sophia, please. [00:45:42] Speaker C: What? I'm not defiling the dead. [00:45:44] Speaker F: Get out of there. [00:45:45] Speaker E: There's still. Even if he's an evil person, there's still a level of respect to treat with coffins and sarcophagi. [00:45:52] Speaker C: He's not there yet. [00:45:53] Speaker F: Zafay out. [00:45:54] Speaker C: I'm just gonna look around. [00:45:56] Speaker D: Let's just move on. [00:46:00] Speaker E: Is there anything else in this room to glean anything from? Do they ever use this room for anything? Is there like a little altar or a little bench of some stuff? [00:46:12] Speaker C: Snack wrappers? [00:46:13] Speaker B: It doesn't seem that way. So this is like, it's somewhat of like a little atrium off to the side from the rest of the catacombs, prepared for a body of particular significance. So there's little alcoves and such to bury treasured possessions and such, but all of that's completely Empty. [00:46:32] Speaker E: Does it look. Look like people come in here? [00:46:34] Speaker B: You get the sense that people come by frequently enough to keep it cleaned and dusted and stuff like that, but not that it doesn't seem that there's anybody using it. [00:46:42] Speaker E: Okay, gotcha. [00:46:44] Speaker C: I hop out. [00:46:45] Speaker A: All right, Einar's not in the room. [00:46:48] Speaker E: So they probably come here a fair amount. So let's keep on heading out. [00:46:55] Speaker B: So Einar, after the conversation has ended and the others were looking at the coffin, you just turned around, started heading on deeper in. [00:47:01] Speaker A: I waited at that junction right before. He's in a hurry and frustrated, but he's. He's not stupidly in a hurry and frustrated. [00:47:11] Speaker D: Good. [00:47:13] Speaker C: Glad you added that adverb, Einar. [00:47:16] Speaker B: Make a perception check with a plus four bonus. I don't like that. Since. Since you've stopped at that doorway and have been waiting for a little. [00:47:28] Speaker A: 23. [00:47:30] Speaker B: 23. I think with a 23, Einar might hear a sizzling sound and then a clatter. And then just like a. And then another. [00:47:50] Speaker D: Is there another ooze in this location, Geordi? [00:47:56] Speaker A: He slowly extends his sword in front of him with blind fight, I might add. [00:48:04] Speaker B: And this is what the rest of you find when you catch up with Einar at the door. Just standing in the doorway with his sword extended out in front of him. [00:48:13] Speaker C: Pulls out needles. [00:48:14] Speaker E: I've been seeking as we've been going. Does it that trigger anything? [00:48:20] Speaker B: Not at this junction. [00:48:22] Speaker E: Okay. Everything all right, Inar? [00:48:25] Speaker A: I also have warfare lore. [00:48:27] Speaker B: I don't think either blind fight or warfare lore are helping you right now. [00:48:32] Speaker A: Okay. [00:48:32] Speaker B: Counting lore help, they might be a little bit over budget because. [00:48:37] Speaker A: Makes sense the reason why I'm thinking of those slimes that don't show up. [00:48:41] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:48:42] Speaker E: Very hard to see if they don't move. [00:48:44] Speaker B: Like the gelatinous cube. Yeah, yeah. With how well you feel that you've rolled on your perception, you get the sense that if this were a normal gelatinous cube, you would have noticed it. You don't see anything, you don't sense anything, but you hear something just around the corner. [00:48:59] Speaker D: Gotcha. [00:49:01] Speaker A: When. If you try to go beyond where he's at, he's going to quickly put his arm out to stop you, and he's just going to very, very quietly say, the something in this room. [00:49:17] Speaker E: Can I peek out and see if I see anything? [00:49:21] Speaker A: When you say peek out, what do you mean? [00:49:22] Speaker E: Just stick my head up forward. [00:49:26] Speaker A: Don't go beyond the sword. [00:49:28] Speaker B: Okay, so Val, just kind of leaning just in front of Einar, peeking into the room. It looks like it used to be more of just a normal crossroads where you could turn left or turn right to get to other tombs, other places where bodies would be interred. But just looking around the corner to the left, where those strange sounds are coming from, there's a mound of bones that's kind of spilling out into the room. [00:49:56] Speaker E: Are they actively spilling? [00:49:58] Speaker B: No, more like they have been spilling. [00:50:00] Speaker C: It's like a laundry sheet. [00:50:01] Speaker E: And there's some sort of. Do I hear that noise? You. [00:50:04] Speaker B: You do. And as you're watching, you just see an arm just kind of like splat and just kind of roll out into the main area ways. [00:50:15] Speaker E: So do I see that hand? [00:50:18] Speaker B: Yes. Anybody who's at the doorway would be able to see it because there's two of those green torches in there, so. [00:50:23] Speaker A: It'S well lit Mage Hand to pick it up. [00:50:26] Speaker E: Oh, don't. Don't touch it. [00:50:29] Speaker D: He's not. It's Mage Hand. [00:50:30] Speaker E: No, but don't move it. [00:50:32] Speaker B: So you would have to step up about 10ft closer to reach with Mage Hand. [00:50:36] Speaker A: Oh, would I? Okay, I'm not going to necessarily do that. [00:50:40] Speaker E: So, seeing the arm fall off and roll out, Val has a quick flash on her face of fear for a second as she's personally remembering the feeling of what happened to her arm. And then she kind of stops for a second and says, like, wait, I think there's like a ghoul or something up there. They're eating, cleaning off the bones. And she's gonna pull her weapons out. [00:51:12] Speaker C: I'm gonna switch to my bow from. [00:51:14] Speaker A: My needles around that corner. [00:51:17] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:51:19] Speaker A: Einar turns behind and says, do either of you have a spell to block off or cause vast amounts of damage in one particular area? [00:51:32] Speaker B: As you're discussing this, you hear the sound of something splashing, and anybody who was watching, looking in that direction, just saw what appears to have just been, like, brackish water just splashed across the room. [00:51:49] Speaker E: Ugh. Don't like that. [00:51:52] Speaker C: Did you say brackish or blackish? [00:51:54] Speaker B: Brackish? [00:51:55] Speaker A: Okay. He's also going to draw a shield. [00:51:58] Speaker D: I'm going to step up behind Vallamiller. I can see if I can't get a lucky hit off of it. On it. There's no guarantee, but maybe. [00:52:07] Speaker E: Can I step forward since I have more resistances to undead stuff? [00:52:13] Speaker B: Are you wanting to swap with Einar in the doorway or pass him into the room? [00:52:16] Speaker E: I'd rather swap them. [00:52:17] Speaker A: Pass. Ainar is actually. He's drawing his shield, and all he says is, I'll be both of yours. [00:52:25] Speaker E: Shield okay, sure. [00:52:29] Speaker A: And he'll have the raised shield. [00:52:32] Speaker B: All right, so alward, with your 60 foot range and then being able to choose to cast that from anywhere within 30ft of you, you can actually. To be able to get into that corner, you would have to stand in the doorway where Einar is standing. [00:52:49] Speaker D: Okay, I'm just gonna, like, squeeze past me. [00:52:53] Speaker A: Yep. Einar steps forward. [00:52:55] Speaker D: Okay, that's fine. [00:52:56] Speaker B: Einar, you're stepping into the room. [00:52:58] Speaker A: He's gonna step in front of Alward. [00:53:01] Speaker B: Okay. Make a stealth check. [00:53:08] Speaker A: Do I make the stealth check or do you. [00:53:09] Speaker B: I do. [00:53:10] Speaker E: Is that spot Delosion available in the room? Yeah. [00:53:14] Speaker B: Yeah. So you want to both enter simultaneously side by side, then? [00:53:17] Speaker E: Yeah, because I don't want to. I don't want to be behind Alward in this situation. All right. [00:53:21] Speaker C: Zafir is standing behind with his bow. [00:53:22] Speaker B: Darwin blue will be Val's stealth check. Bronze will be Einar's stealth check. [00:53:27] Speaker D: Well, I know you're fine. [00:53:29] Speaker A: Plus 12. [00:53:30] Speaker D: What's your stealth plus 12? Oh. Oh, both of you have plus 12. [00:53:33] Speaker B: I rolled the same thing on both dice. [00:53:35] Speaker D: Oh, hopefully it's good. [00:53:38] Speaker B: As you step into the room, you're hearing clatter, clack, who's there? Who is the bear? And at that, we'll end this episode. [00:53:56] Speaker F: Boo. [00:53:57] Speaker C: The first gurgle sounded like you said uver. [00:54:00] Speaker D: That's what I thought you said, too. [00:54:01] Speaker E: That's a little bit. [00:54:02] Speaker F: Wait, what? [00:54:03] Speaker E: I got. [00:54:03] Speaker B: I got. Have you been. [00:54:05] Speaker E: I got. Who's there? I'm there. [00:54:07] Speaker A: Oh, I. I might know what this is. [00:54:10] Speaker B: You all looked so shocked. I was like. I'll just say that line again. [00:54:13] Speaker E: It's definitely not like a normal ghoul, because we're far too high for a normal ghoul. [00:54:17] Speaker A: It might be a ghoul. [00:54:18] Speaker C: I'm far too high for a normal ghoul. [00:54:20] Speaker E: Oh, snap. Oh, snap. You're right. That might be a troll. [00:54:26] Speaker B: All right, so hero point. This episode goes to Sven, as he's playing Einar with the heroic jumping back into the pit of grasping skeletal arms to pull Alber and Zafir out of danger. [00:54:38] Speaker C: Thank you for saving us. [00:54:41] Speaker F: Thanks for taking me across the pit. [00:54:43] Speaker A: You're welcome. I not provide uppies anytime anybody wants. [00:54:50] Speaker F: Even if they're not consensual uppies. [00:54:52] Speaker A: Only consensual uppies or in dire straits. [00:54:55] Speaker D: Okay, I feel like that's a lie, because I feel like Zafir asked for uppies a long time ago and you said no. [00:55:02] Speaker A: Well, that's Zafir, and we're not gonna talk about that. [00:55:05] Speaker F: In his defense, he doesn't act. He never knew Zafir. [00:55:08] Speaker A: Oh, that's fair. Yes. [00:55:10] Speaker E: I don't even know this guy. [00:55:11] Speaker F: He doesn't even go here. [00:55:15] Speaker A: Well, thank you guys for the hero point. I'm so happy that I finally got to use inars plus 22 athletics trip, people. [00:55:26] Speaker D: More. [00:55:29] Speaker A: I slash. I don't trip. I'm going to go. Hopefully be thankful that my sword has fire.
