[00:00:05] Speaker A: You are listening to an atomic broadcasting production. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the feature presentation. And remember, do your part, such as, like, comment rate. And don't forget to tell a friend to tune in for an atomic time. [00:00:31] Speaker B: Now, where do we leave off? Ah, yes. The party came across a woman and her child in a wagon threatened by fire and ghouls bearing an ominous religious symbol. They dispatched the ghouls and rescued the survivors before escorting them safely to town. [00:01:00] Speaker C: I've been playing a lot of the Elden ring DLC. Has anybody else. Can I talk about this or. [00:01:04] Speaker A: No, I literally don't have the game. [00:01:05] Speaker B: Get out. [00:01:06] Speaker A: Sven, please. [00:01:08] Speaker D: Also don't have the game. I hate all of you, nor do I have money. [00:01:12] Speaker E: I've been playing it, but I keep having to take breaks because frustrations. It's the kind of thing where, you know, when you just keep going at that level of octane, it's like, nah, I need a break. [00:01:23] Speaker C: No, I get you. I took a break from the d. I continued to play Elden ring, but I took a break from the DLC to fight Malenia in one. That was my first time fighting her thing. She's nowhere near as hard as the end boss of the DLC. [00:01:38] Speaker F: Spoilers. [00:01:38] Speaker A: Which one's the in boss? [00:01:39] Speaker C: I can't tell you. Spoilers. [00:01:42] Speaker A: Oh, you can tell me. You can tell me later, though. [00:01:45] Speaker C: Okay? [00:01:46] Speaker G: I have the game, but I don't intend to get the DLC for it. [00:01:50] Speaker C: It's just. That's what I've been doing and I've been excited to talk about. But I've already talked about it with you. [00:01:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:55] Speaker G: What? Yeah, that happened. [00:01:56] Speaker C: That was a while ago. [00:01:57] Speaker A: You weren't listening. [00:01:58] Speaker H: You were giving. [00:01:59] Speaker A: You and Jenkins were on your own. [00:02:02] Speaker C: He was striking me from HR. [00:02:04] Speaker H: From HR? [00:02:05] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:07] Speaker G: Call HS. [00:02:07] Speaker H: I did, because we were. We were going beyond crossing the fourth wall, and someone's threatening. Licking. Licking their. [00:02:14] Speaker G: That's why. Don't lick your microphones. [00:02:16] Speaker C: You can't stop me. [00:02:18] Speaker E: If we did get those fancy new microphones we were talking about, they would be out of licking rain. Unless I'm disappointed by that. [00:02:32] Speaker H: Do you want to lick your microphone? Ew. [00:02:36] Speaker E: I mean, if you want to bring your own microphone from home to life. [00:02:41] Speaker H: Other people have to use these microphones. [00:02:43] Speaker D: Hey, that just adds flavor. [00:02:46] Speaker E: It's a finally cultivated. [00:02:50] Speaker A: This is my microphone now. [00:02:52] Speaker H: Yeah, we'll just put a label on it. It's like, that's Sven's. He licked it, therefore he claimed it. [00:02:57] Speaker C: Wait, Sven gotta lick his microphone? [00:03:00] Speaker H: No, you don't know he's the only one. [00:03:03] Speaker C: This is garbage. [00:03:06] Speaker G: We at the atomic broadcasting studio do not encourage licking of electronic devices of any kind. [00:03:12] Speaker H: If you get a weird, tingly feeling that's wrong, it shouldn't happen. [00:03:17] Speaker G: Also, other. Other people use that mic. Nolan uses that mic. [00:03:21] Speaker C: Oh, not anymore. [00:03:23] Speaker A: I didn't. [00:03:24] Speaker C: Nolan licked it. [00:03:25] Speaker A: I didn't lick it. [00:03:26] Speaker H: I don't think Nolan licked it. [00:03:28] Speaker G: One thing is missing from podcasts as a whole is a proper safety, like, OSHA type group. And the fact that there are no safety regulations involved in podcasting is criminal. [00:03:39] Speaker A: I want a safety. I want a high res vest. Now, even though we're in an. [00:03:44] Speaker H: Sam, are you going to spearhead the OSHA for podcasting? [00:03:48] Speaker A: I did Osha ten. I am the most qualified. [00:03:51] Speaker G: No, I did Osha eleven. [00:03:54] Speaker C: I don't think that's a thing. [00:03:56] Speaker A: I have a car. [00:03:57] Speaker B: Can you. [00:03:57] Speaker G: I have a car. [00:04:01] Speaker E: Is OSha eleven where you, like, do. [00:04:03] Speaker B: A heist to get somebody on? [00:04:06] Speaker G: Yes, exactly. I hired George Clooney and Matt Damon to help. [00:04:10] Speaker C: Wait, can I be an Osha 13? [00:04:14] Speaker G: Not yet. We aren't there yet. When we get there once the. Once we do a second heist, but then the bad guys are holding some of our loved ones hostage to do the third heist, but then we turn it around on them. [00:04:26] Speaker C: Okay. [00:04:27] Speaker G: And instead, safety is not outlawed and is encouraged because one is safety to not be a thing. [00:04:36] Speaker C: Osha. [00:04:36] Speaker A: Osha eleven. Ocean eleven. [00:04:39] Speaker C: No, Osha eleven. Oh, she said it right. [00:04:42] Speaker G: It's all about stealing a forklift. That's really. [00:04:45] Speaker C: I know I'm not certified, but I can drive a forklift. I have before. [00:04:48] Speaker G: Yeah, it's very important. [00:04:50] Speaker C: Same. [00:04:50] Speaker G: They got away with a pallet jack, too. So, like, oh, those fiends. They got their pallet jack license and everything. [00:04:57] Speaker H: Wait, you have to have a license to drive one of those? [00:05:00] Speaker G: No, a. Don't think one typically drives a pallet one drag. [00:05:06] Speaker H: No, actually, if you get on it. [00:05:09] Speaker A: Like a screwd, which I've definitely never done so much. [00:05:14] Speaker G: Someone not riding like you ride a scooter. You do not drive a scooter unless it's motorized. [00:05:20] Speaker A: I have a motorized one at work. [00:05:22] Speaker C: I was about to say I also have pallet jack. Ridden a motorized pallet jack. [00:05:27] Speaker G: Hey, that's pretty cool. I like that. [00:05:28] Speaker C: And since I don't plan on ever working in a warehouse again, hopefully I feel comfortable saying it was very fun. [00:05:35] Speaker D: I'm not driving this scooter. I was traveling with this scooter as. [00:05:40] Speaker H: Just go down a hill riding on the hill. [00:05:42] Speaker E: That would be awful. [00:05:44] Speaker G: As the now semi certified podcast OSHA member, I'd like to say we need a motorized palette jack for the podcast. [00:05:52] Speaker D: How do you get semi certified? [00:05:53] Speaker H: Do we have that much merch? [00:05:55] Speaker C: What. [00:05:55] Speaker A: What does that even. [00:05:56] Speaker G: It's already. Already basically orange, so it's already branded real fast. [00:06:01] Speaker C: I should probably say under no circumstances should you follow any of our bad advice and ride pallet jacks. [00:06:08] Speaker A: Work, kids. [00:06:10] Speaker H: Except you should, because it's fun. [00:06:12] Speaker E: If you're. [00:06:12] Speaker C: We're not liable for any mistakes you made. You. [00:06:15] Speaker D: If you are an adult, you are free to do whatever you want with them pallet jacks. But if you're a kid, don't do anything with pallet jacks. Period. [00:06:25] Speaker C: This is not legal advice, question mark. [00:06:28] Speaker G: I don't think this is very advice. [00:06:30] Speaker E: We are legally giving you advice to be safe. [00:06:33] Speaker I: Yeah, that sounds. [00:06:35] Speaker D: They should put us on. [00:06:36] Speaker H: Unless you don't want to be safe. [00:06:39] Speaker G: Be safe. [00:06:41] Speaker I: In the words of Uwehr, don't do the dumb. [00:06:45] Speaker C: Yes. [00:06:46] Speaker I: All right. [00:06:46] Speaker D: We need a ukulele song about OSHA approved things. [00:06:49] Speaker G: Be safe. And heist safety. [00:06:52] Speaker C: I don't want to listen to this. Twelve hour seminar. Thank you. [00:06:56] Speaker G: I like to talk to you about. [00:06:57] Speaker A: Escaping on the helicopter. Make sure you wear high ris vest and you are safely attached with your. [00:07:03] Speaker G: H. Have a safe time, Jordy. [00:07:06] Speaker C: Please save us, Jordy. [00:07:08] Speaker G: Save everyone is important to the team. [00:07:11] Speaker A: Oh, my. [00:07:12] Speaker E: Speaking of, I. I'm going to go ahead and get this game started. [00:07:17] Speaker D: I was really hoping you'd misspell it. [00:07:21] Speaker G: Contact me online for the other two letters. [00:07:24] Speaker D: Join our Patreon. [00:07:26] Speaker C: Get on our discord for the other two letters. No. [00:07:28] Speaker G: No. [00:07:28] Speaker C: Patreon. [00:07:28] Speaker D: We got to monetize this. [00:07:32] Speaker E: The moon is now high in the sky. Several hours have passed now as you have been riding on following the direction of the woman you rescued in the previous episode, as she's been showing you the way to get to the town where they were to meet her husband. As you crest over the hill, you can see the town ahead, nestled into a small valley with some trees around it, smoke curling out of the scattered chimneys. It's not a big settlement, but it's also not a hamlet or something small. There's a few houses. It is, at this point zafir. Roughly 237 and a half in the morning. [00:08:15] Speaker D: Thank you. I figured my nose was a little clogged from the smoky area in the previous fight, but I think it must have cleared up by now. [00:08:23] Speaker C: It hasn't. It's actually 238 and a half. [00:08:27] Speaker E: Oh, dang. [00:08:27] Speaker D: It left nostril. [00:08:29] Speaker G: There's about a second delay between nostrils. [00:08:33] Speaker F: We have different time zones, the speed of smell. [00:08:38] Speaker H: What happens if you have a deviated septon? [00:08:42] Speaker C: What time is it again? [00:08:45] Speaker E: By now, it actually is 239 and three quarters. [00:08:49] Speaker F: Am. [00:08:50] Speaker B: Yes. [00:08:51] Speaker E: Am no. The moon is high in the sky and you have several hours before dawn, but you have arrived at the town. [00:09:00] Speaker C: What town are we at? [00:09:01] Speaker E: Stag watch. [00:09:02] Speaker C: Stag watch. [00:09:03] Speaker F: So we've arrived at deer spotting. [00:09:06] Speaker G: Did she say she was from this area or were they traveling to it? [00:09:09] Speaker E: They were traveling to it. Her husband had gone ahead to stake a claim and, you know, set up their new house. And then once it was ready, he'd called back for the wife and the daughter to join him there, and they were on their way. [00:09:21] Speaker I: Okay. [00:09:22] Speaker G: Val is gonna ride up to this lady and she's gonna say, do you know where your husband is? Which house he's staying at? [00:09:33] Speaker E: I don't know exactly. He said it was a house on the south side of town, which would be on the opposite end from where we've arrived. [00:09:40] Speaker G: Right. Let's hope he's waiting up for you. I'm sure he's probably worried since you've been delayed. [00:09:47] Speaker E: Right. We were supposed to arrive before sundown today, so thanks to you all, we're only a few hours later than expected. Rather than. Well, yeah. [00:10:00] Speaker I: Let's see if we can find your husband. [00:10:04] Speaker E: So you head into town. It's pretty quiet. There don't seem to be many people up. The roads are nicely put together cobble, and you can hear the horses hooves clip, clopping as you make your way through town. You're just entering the town square, which is all built surrounding the town. Well, when you hear a voice calling out, hey, you. [00:10:28] Speaker B: What are you doing here? [00:10:31] Speaker F: You as in we or we as in they? [00:10:34] Speaker B: The whole lot of you. It's middle of the night, riding into town like this. What's your business? [00:10:41] Speaker C: Coming into town is our business. [00:10:44] Speaker I: There's supposed to be a guard at the gate. [00:10:47] Speaker E: A figure steps out from the shadows of, like, I forget what they're called. There's like an awning over a door kind of thing. And as he does so, he lights a torch on a sconce by the door, and there's a tall, dark haired man in kind of slap together armor just standing there. [00:11:08] Speaker B: I'm the town guard. What's your business here in the middle of the night? [00:11:12] Speaker I: Um, we're looking for this lady's husband. They were awaylaid on the road. [00:11:19] Speaker B: Is that right? [00:11:21] Speaker C: Can I make a check on this guy. [00:11:24] Speaker E: What do you want to know? [00:11:25] Speaker C: Um, well, you said his armor was slapped together. I know you said this town wasn't, like, big, but surely they'd have a better armor set for their town guard. [00:11:34] Speaker A: Why? [00:11:36] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:11:36] Speaker E: Gotcha. What's your society again? Are you expert? [00:11:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm expert. [00:11:40] Speaker E: So you don't have to roll for this. You can just sizing him up. You realize this guy is not really funded by any political power, so I'm master. Oh, you're a master. [00:11:52] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:57] Speaker E: As a master of society, you can very readily tell that this guy's not hired by any political power. The various pieces of his armor look like, you know, he bought one from this shop, one from that shop. All various different smithing practices or techniques. His left greave is actually, like, pitted and rusted and looks like it needs replaced. But his right gauntlet looks shiny and new, so you get the sense that he's personally funding his armor, just wherever he can find it. [00:12:27] Speaker C: So nothing to say that he's actually a town guard instead of just some dude who wants to be protective. [00:12:34] Speaker E: Yeah, his outfit does not reinforce what he's saying. [00:12:38] Speaker C: So it could just be some random guy trying to do a shakedown. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Could be. [00:12:41] Speaker C: Okay. [00:12:42] Speaker G: Um, yeah, we're just. We just arrived late, that's all. And we're looking for a place to stay after we find her husband's new home. [00:12:53] Speaker B: Right. Heavily armored for travelers. [00:12:57] Speaker G: It's dangerous world. [00:12:59] Speaker F: I mean, that is why we're late. We were taken upon by some bad boys. [00:13:05] Speaker G: Ghouls. [00:13:07] Speaker C: I'm in clothing. She's in clothing. [00:13:10] Speaker H: Yeah, I'm not wearing armor. [00:13:11] Speaker G: There was a cool. We have two of you there. There was a ghoul priest and some ghouls along the road. [00:13:18] Speaker B: Right. Suppose that makes sense enough. Who you looking for? [00:13:24] Speaker F: Her husband. She said that. [00:13:26] Speaker I: What is your husband's name as he. [00:13:29] Speaker A: Leans over to the lady? [00:13:32] Speaker E: Balinor. [00:13:34] Speaker I: Surname? [00:13:35] Speaker E: Oh, Kayden. [00:13:37] Speaker B: You're Balinor's wife. He's been worse picked in. You, I. Follow me. Right this way. I'll show you where he's at. [00:13:46] Speaker F: Well, no, hold on, hold on. You said you're the guard. Are there any others? I mean, there should be at least someone to protect while you're. I mean, we can escort her. As long as you tell us where to go. [00:13:59] Speaker B: I mean, that's fair. I could still keep it watch here at the town. If you head down that road there and he points down the south, it's. It's the long house with the. Thatched roof. Right. Before you leave town, there's a white sow out front. [00:14:15] Speaker G: Oh, thank you. That's nice of you, sir. [00:14:20] Speaker I: And what was your name, sir? [00:14:21] Speaker B: My name's Adam. [00:14:23] Speaker I: Adam. You are the only guard, aren't you? [00:14:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:29] Speaker I: It's a noble thing you're doing down this size. [00:14:32] Speaker B: We're lucky to have someone like me who knows how to swing a sword. [00:14:36] Speaker I: Be safe, Adam. [00:14:39] Speaker B: You as well, my Desna. Watch your travels. [00:14:43] Speaker A: And I just urge the horse forward. [00:14:46] Speaker I: Going down the road. [00:14:49] Speaker G: We'll hope to speak with you. Maybe in more in the morning, after the sun's up. [00:14:54] Speaker B: Right. Well, I'll be sleeping in, doing the night shift and all. But if you find me afternoon, we could talk then. [00:15:01] Speaker C: Um, just in case they don't have room for us, is there a inn that we can go to? [00:15:07] Speaker B: Well, there's not one as such, but old Lady Paisley, she's often got some room upstairs for travelers and like. But it'd be a bit cramped for. [00:15:17] Speaker G: All of you lot, and it's pretty late. I'm sure she's already asleep. [00:15:21] Speaker B: Oh, undoubtedly, she goes to bed before the sun does. She does. Oh, that was weird. [00:15:27] Speaker G: But maybe if they can't house us for the night, we can just set up camp outside of town. And then if we have to stay another night, we can talk to some people, right? [00:15:37] Speaker B: I mean, there's not that much night left, really. [00:15:40] Speaker G: Well, we'll be sleeping for a while. [00:15:42] Speaker H: I was gonna say we're quite tired. [00:15:44] Speaker F: We may sleep in the same as you. [00:15:46] Speaker B: Well, I don't have space at my place. [00:15:50] Speaker F: No, I meant the time. [00:15:52] Speaker B: I just wanted to be clear. [00:15:56] Speaker G: Well, it was great meeting you, Adam. [00:16:00] Speaker B: Right. Doesn't a watch over. I said that already. Well, have a good night. [00:16:06] Speaker G: You as well, my phrasma. Guard your soul. [00:16:11] Speaker F: May my spells be good to you. [00:16:14] Speaker H: Let's just go. [00:16:19] Speaker E: A few minutes pass as you follow the road south out of town. And as Adam had mentioned shortly before you really leave the town proper, there is a longhouse covered with a thatched roof with a white sow out front. [00:16:35] Speaker C: Farm terminology is breaking me sow is cow, or sow is pig. Female pig. Thank you. [00:16:40] Speaker G: Well, we'll let you go in, and we'll be here if you need us for anything. [00:16:44] Speaker E: And she takes the daughter in her arms and heads up to the door, and, like, pauses, looks back at you all. Thank you again. Please come and see us tomorrow afternoon. [00:16:55] Speaker B: We. [00:16:56] Speaker E: I'm sure my husband will want to thank you, too. [00:16:59] Speaker G: Val gives us thumbs up, and she. [00:17:03] Speaker E: Looks back at each of you. And just kind of gives you a nod before heading inside. And just as the door is closing. [00:17:08] Speaker B: You here, Bernice. [00:17:12] Speaker G: All right, we'll just go make a camp outside of Tana space. Right? [00:17:16] Speaker C: We're basically outside of town now. [00:17:18] Speaker I: Yeah, well, let's not do it outside their house. [00:17:21] Speaker C: Well, I wasn't suggesting that you turn. [00:17:23] Speaker D: Around and Zafir's got his hands in his packs like he was just about. [00:17:27] Speaker G: To start setting up his seconds away from having. [00:17:31] Speaker A: Do they have a wall in this town at all? [00:17:33] Speaker E: No. [00:17:33] Speaker I: Okay. [00:17:35] Speaker A: Is there a grove of trees? [00:17:37] Speaker E: There's some trees. The trees are thicker to the north of town, but there are trees pretty much surrounding it all. The town is how to describe the location. It's not out in the clear, like valleys that's leading out into the moors south of grungear forest, but it's not in the forest either. It's in that mid range where there are trees. But you're not in the forest yet. [00:18:01] Speaker G: Let's just go and sleep. I'm very tired. [00:18:10] Speaker E: We pull out to a long view, and we see from above as the party heads away from the house and heads off to the south to get some clearance from town before setting up camp. Our camera just kind of stays in position as we cross. Fade now to midday. The sun is high in the sky as the party is now returning to the house in the early afternoon, as they'd been requested, I give the front. [00:18:35] Speaker D: Door a little knock. Knock, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. [00:18:41] Speaker G: Do you have to always do it that way, Zafir? [00:18:44] Speaker F: I mean, they can't tell that I'm doing it from this angle. They just hear the knock. It's just fun. [00:18:47] Speaker C: Well, they also hear the nudge. [00:18:50] Speaker E: As you're discussing this, the door is opened by a stocky man with a bushy brown beard. [00:18:56] Speaker B: And he's like, can I help you? [00:18:58] Speaker F: So as he opens the door, I. [00:18:59] Speaker D: Was just in recreating the nudge nudge, so I'm looking over at Val just going. [00:19:07] Speaker F: And then I poke him slightly. [00:19:09] Speaker C: You're. [00:19:11] Speaker E: He's a stockily built fellow, but he's not particularly tall. So with the height of Zafir, you end up just kind of, like, poking him in the chest. [00:19:20] Speaker C: Your wife told us that Zafir stopped poking that man. Your wife asked us to show back up today. [00:19:26] Speaker B: Oh, you're the ones who saved them. Please, come inside. Come inside. [00:19:31] Speaker E: Inside the building. It's very clean and very empty. It doesn't take a master detective to realize the house has very recently been constructed and hasn't really been moved into yet or furnished. Like you were saying, Sam. Inside, Bernice has, like, a pot that she's stirring, and she looks up and is like, oh, thank you. You came back. We did want to thank you so much. [00:19:59] Speaker G: No, thanks are really necessary. I mean, we were just doing what anyone should do, you know, keep saving your life and all. [00:20:07] Speaker I: We were happy that we were at the right place at the right time. [00:20:10] Speaker B: Yes, there's a precious few who would see people in peril like that and put their own lives in stake. You're good folk, and we need more of them like you here in the lands of the Linum kings. [00:20:23] Speaker G: Well, we appreciate your compliments. Your thanks. [00:20:27] Speaker B: Yes, we wanted to thank you. [00:20:30] Speaker E: And he pulls out, like, a oilskin pouch. [00:20:34] Speaker B: He's like, it's not much, but we don't have a lot to go around. [00:20:40] Speaker I: Good folk, I think, do things for. Without paint, without payment in mind. [00:20:46] Speaker C: You literally lost most of your stuff in that wagon back there. I would suggest keep it. [00:20:52] Speaker F: Oh, I've got these. [00:20:53] Speaker D: And he starts pulling out a couple of the. Whatever it was that he salvaged from the cart. [00:21:00] Speaker G: Apples. [00:21:00] Speaker A: Apples. [00:21:02] Speaker B: Oh. Oh, and my hand carved whistle. [00:21:04] Speaker F: Yes, that, too. I kind of wanted that, but it was okay. It's okay. [00:21:10] Speaker G: If it makes you feel better, consider a donation from phrasma. [00:21:16] Speaker F: But that was for me. [00:21:17] Speaker G: No, not that stuff. The money. The money. [00:21:20] Speaker D: Right, right. [00:21:21] Speaker G: From the church of. Yeah. [00:21:24] Speaker B: Well, I do thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you. If you aren't going to accept our coin, I do hope for asthma. You said, I hope for asthma. Blesses you all heartily. [00:21:36] Speaker G: Thank you. [00:21:37] Speaker I: Well, be safe, and I wish you well. [00:21:43] Speaker B: Of course. Thank you. Thank you. [00:21:45] Speaker E: And he, like, is starting to look a little bit uncomfortable. And like, Bernice is like. [00:21:50] Speaker B: And he's like, no, no, no. [00:21:54] Speaker C: Everything okay? Should we leave? Are we making you uncomfortable? Is Inar making you uncomfortable? He's very large. [00:22:00] Speaker E: Bernice, like, gestures to him, like a come on kind of gesture, and he's. [00:22:05] Speaker B: Like, no, they've already done enough. They let them. Whatever they're doing, let them go on their way. [00:22:10] Speaker I: Is there something we can help with? [00:22:12] Speaker A: He just has. I know. Just has to smile. [00:22:18] Speaker B: Well, all right. Please do not feel required or put upon to take any business in this. I will. To humor my wife. Tell you what is going on here, did we? [00:22:36] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, we did. Find out what this guy's name was. [00:22:38] Speaker G: Yes. [00:22:40] Speaker D: Balanor. [00:22:41] Speaker E: Balinor Ballinor. [00:22:42] Speaker C: Wait, Balinor and Patrice. [00:22:44] Speaker G: Bernice. [00:22:44] Speaker C: Bernice. Bernice. Furness. [00:22:47] Speaker G: My grandmother's name is Bernice. Not Bernice, I think Bernice when I think of that name. [00:22:53] Speaker B: Well, so there's a group of. I don't know what you call them. Ruffians, scoundrels, bandits. They. They live not far here. They've got a camp just a few miles west out of town, and they've just been harassing this whole township. They've been doing it since before I got here, and it's just been getting worse. [00:23:16] Speaker G: Do you want to check in with Adam about that? We'd like to help if we can. [00:23:21] Speaker B: Well, I. Of course. I don't want you to feel imposed upon. I don't want you to feel like, you know, you've got to do something. I just. [00:23:29] Speaker G: What? [00:23:30] Speaker I: Forgive me, but this is a small town. What can they find of value to just constantly sit here? [00:23:35] Speaker B: It's food, mostly. I don't know what they're doing with some sort of, like, military encampment. It's like they're preparing for some war or something. [00:23:43] Speaker C: Oh, we're probably dealing with that. [00:23:45] Speaker G: Anyway, that sounds like why we're here. [00:23:48] Speaker F: Sounds like our interests are mixed. [00:23:50] Speaker I: Not. Not a part of them, to be clear. [00:23:53] Speaker G: Oh, right. We're here to put a stop to what they're doing, which would include what has happening to the small town here. [00:24:01] Speaker B: I don't mean to be nosy, but, I mean, what are you doing here? [00:24:06] Speaker G: Well, just, you know, specifically, general revolution. Stopping things and murder stuff. No, a murder stopping stuff, not, um. Not doing. [00:24:16] Speaker F: Do you want them dead? [00:24:18] Speaker I: You're making. [00:24:18] Speaker F: Wait, no. Sorry. Old habits. [00:24:19] Speaker G: I. All right. [00:24:26] Speaker B: That one got me petite. [00:24:28] Speaker C: I wouldn't necessarily say revolution. [00:24:31] Speaker G: I mean, it sounds kind of revolutionary, what they're trying to do. [00:24:34] Speaker C: I mean. But we're not, like, leading. [00:24:36] Speaker G: No, we are not. They are. They're. They're revolting. [00:24:40] Speaker C: They're a drug family. [00:24:42] Speaker G: The bad people. [00:24:43] Speaker C: That's what I'm saying. They're a crime family. I don't know if crime families. [00:24:46] Speaker G: But they're trying to overthrow the established government. Yeah, that's a revolution. [00:24:51] Speaker A: It's not a revolution. [00:24:52] Speaker C: Revolutions are positive for the most part. [00:24:56] Speaker I: A coup's a takeover. [00:24:57] Speaker C: Well, semantics. [00:24:59] Speaker I: Not really. [00:25:00] Speaker F: Evolution is nor positive nor negative. It's all in the context. [00:25:04] Speaker C: That's what we're doing here, though, is all of that. [00:25:08] Speaker B: I can see that I'm out of my depth in discussing the finer points of this professional. A revolution stopping, probably. But I will let you know. They've been. They've been bothering and harassing the entire town side. And I mean, we can't offer you much as I sure. I'm sure you know, but I'm sure they've got many valuables they've taken there at the camp. And if you stop them, I know most of us here around would be quite happy to let you keep whatever you can find there. [00:25:37] Speaker I: How many are there? I. [00:25:40] Speaker B: Well, at least. Well, let me see. Hold on. [00:25:44] Speaker I: Look at my notes out his laptop. [00:25:47] Speaker B: Somewhere between 20 and 30. [00:25:50] Speaker I: Do they ever give a name? [00:25:52] Speaker B: Well, most of them call themselves the wolf skin warriors. [00:25:56] Speaker G: You've seen them, right? [00:25:59] Speaker B: I've only seen some of them all. I don't know, junior members. [00:26:04] Speaker E: I don't know how to describe it. [00:26:04] Speaker B: They're nothing. They're not the real threatening ones. [00:26:07] Speaker G: Right. [00:26:09] Speaker F: Do you know if there's a leader? [00:26:11] Speaker B: I don't know for sure. I've heard a couple different names mentioned. Torvald, Brenga, Chalmont. [00:26:20] Speaker H: What was the third one? [00:26:22] Speaker E: Chaumont. [00:26:23] Speaker B: It's like, I don't know, some foreign words. Chaumont. [00:26:26] Speaker G: It's sounds french. [00:26:28] Speaker E: I gon. [00:26:28] Speaker F: What is it? [00:26:29] Speaker I: French. [00:26:29] Speaker G: It's Nidalese. [00:26:31] Speaker F: Bless you. [00:26:33] Speaker I: And it does sound like the people that we're dealing with. [00:26:37] Speaker G: We should check in with Adam and see what he knows before we head out. He might have some information that can help us. [00:26:45] Speaker F: Balinort, do you know what time Adam usually wakes up? I mean, you've only been here for like a couple of days, I would assume. [00:26:54] Speaker B: Well, not that fast at building a house. Been more like six weeks, I think. [00:26:58] Speaker A: Oh, that's actually incredible. [00:27:02] Speaker B: I am a skilled carpenter. Also, I haven't been working by myself for some reason. [00:27:06] Speaker F: I was under the impression that you were here for like, two days and then you sent word. [00:27:11] Speaker B: No, I've been sort of, you know, laying stakes to the claim and getting things set up. Been civilizing it before I brought the wife and kid over. [00:27:19] Speaker F: I know this is far beyond the reasons we're here to. Probably inconsequential, but after knowing about all these things for these. What? You said six weeks, why did you decide to stay here of all places? [00:27:34] Speaker B: Well, couldn't really sell the property and buy something else. You know, property values tend to go down when you're being attacked by raiders. [00:27:43] Speaker C: Well, Howard's going to telekinetic hand the back of Zafir's coat and we'll go talk with Adam. [00:27:50] Speaker F: Just curious. [00:27:52] Speaker I: In the meantime, why are we do with these people? It would be best. So you're not targeted, that you don't know us. [00:28:02] Speaker B: Right? Right, yes. I don't know who any of you are. [00:28:07] Speaker C: I mean, they don't know who we are either. [00:28:10] Speaker B: You never did introduce yourselves to me. [00:28:12] Speaker F: Oh, well, I'm. [00:28:13] Speaker B: No, I don't know who you are. [00:28:17] Speaker I: If they are seen by association. [00:28:20] Speaker C: No, I'm saying the criminal empire doesn't really know that we're doing this either. I. I don't know if they will. We've been out traveling for like a month and a half and none of them have heard of us. [00:28:32] Speaker I: And we've taken out. And you've taken out how many of them? [00:28:35] Speaker C: Three. [00:28:36] Speaker F: Well, besides. [00:28:38] Speaker D: And I nudge over three plus point over it. [00:28:40] Speaker G: Yeah, you were or two. [00:28:43] Speaker A: Is Yova in there or. She's standing outside. [00:28:46] Speaker E: Did you ask her to wait outside? [00:28:48] Speaker A: I don't think we did. [00:28:49] Speaker E: So she's standing in there with you? [00:28:51] Speaker H: Oh, I am also not in there. [00:28:53] Speaker G: Oh, no, she's the only one not in there. [00:28:57] Speaker C: Just standing outside the house. [00:28:58] Speaker D: That would have been information to know. [00:29:00] Speaker H: I'm playing on the fence outside. [00:29:01] Speaker C: Ah, makes sense. [00:29:03] Speaker I: Okay, we will go and talk to Adam. Be safe. [00:29:08] Speaker B: Of course. And you too. [00:29:10] Speaker A: And Einar just turns around and herds everybody out the door. [00:29:15] Speaker C: I was already trying to hurt him out the door. [00:29:19] Speaker F: This has happened far too many times to me in the last few days. [00:29:22] Speaker I: You talk too much. [00:29:25] Speaker C: Thank you. [00:29:28] Speaker F: I'm just learning this now. [00:29:33] Speaker E: So are you just heading into the town square and looking for Adam? [00:29:38] Speaker G: Yeah, I suppose so. [00:29:40] Speaker E: Are you like, asking around or just looking for him? [00:29:44] Speaker A: I know what? Ask around. [00:29:45] Speaker C: Same. [00:29:45] Speaker D: Well, is it somewhat densely populated, like, for people to ask around or is this kind of just a walk in and people are doing their business? [00:29:56] Speaker E: When you get to the town square, it's nothing difficult to find someone, but it's certainly not densely packed small town. [00:30:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:04] Speaker E: So the first couple people you ask are not sure where Adam is, although they confirm that he's usually up by this time. But the third person you ask mentions that they saw him over at old Lady Paisley's place. [00:30:16] Speaker A: I asked where old Lady Paisley is. [00:30:18] Speaker E: Right over there. And there's a rather nice looking house with some ivy climbing up the sides. [00:30:25] Speaker D: I really do want to climb the ivy. [00:30:27] Speaker G: All right, I. Don't mind me. [00:30:29] Speaker A: Is Neros with us? [00:30:31] Speaker H: You think so? [00:30:32] Speaker A: Nope. That's actually a question. Because if we walked out, we would gather everybody. [00:30:38] Speaker D: Einar, especially Einar, would look big bear hug. [00:30:41] Speaker H: If you want her with you, she will be with you. [00:30:44] Speaker C: I want Neros to be out having a fun time doing Nero's things. Like punching civilians. [00:30:51] Speaker D: Side quest Nero's. [00:30:53] Speaker H: Why would she be punching civilians? [00:30:56] Speaker C: I couldn't think of any. I'm sorry. [00:30:59] Speaker A: Prank. Pranking civil. [00:31:01] Speaker C: Ah, throwing glitter on civilians. [00:31:04] Speaker H: I'm saving the prank. Other things. [00:31:07] Speaker C: Okay. [00:31:09] Speaker E: So are you all going into the building or is one of you climbing the ivy or. [00:31:14] Speaker D: I think I'll just stick in the square just to keep an eye out. [00:31:19] Speaker A: In our going, so. [00:31:20] Speaker G: Okay, I'll go to talk to him. [00:31:22] Speaker E: Nero says, still unaccounted for, I presume. [00:31:25] Speaker A: I know I would look, if he finds her, that's another thing. But iron I would look, she's on the fan. [00:31:32] Speaker G: Question, how are you coming to talk to Adam? Are you gonna hang around, talk to people? [00:31:37] Speaker C: No, I'll come to talk to Adam. I'm just still imagining someone punching somebody in the face, being like, it's just a. [00:31:43] Speaker G: You know what? I think Val is not gonna go talk to Adam. I think just let alert and Einar, since they seem like they know a lot more about what's going on and how to approach asking questions. So Val is gonna instead set up some music in the square and start playing. [00:32:05] Speaker A: Once again, Jenkins and Sven are put. [00:32:07] Speaker I: Together to go ask questions. [00:32:09] Speaker G: Hey. Hey. [00:32:10] Speaker C: I don't think it ever worked well when we were. [00:32:14] Speaker E: And where are you guys having yulva go? [00:32:18] Speaker D: She can stay with, I think with Val and Zafir in the square because I think if Val's gonna play music, Zafir's just gonna sit and enjoy. [00:32:25] Speaker A: Einar's not keeping a close guard on her, so she can pretty well follow whomever as long as she. I think she's sticking with the party for now. [00:32:34] Speaker C: Yeah, so far, yeah, I think she's. [00:32:36] Speaker G: Just free to do what you feel like she would do. [00:32:38] Speaker C: Yeah, portray us and tell the berserkers we're here to so they can raid the town. [00:32:43] Speaker E: All right, so we've got Albert and Einar are heading in to talk with Adam, and then Val and Zafir are in the square. Val's playing some music and Cornelius and Yilva are kind of hanging out with them. [00:32:56] Speaker C: I'm just imagining eyeball man sitting in the town, forgetting that he's an eyeball man. And I. [00:33:01] Speaker E: He's got his hood, like, pulled up around his face and everything as he's kind of blending in as a short dude walking expert. [00:33:07] Speaker A: He's an old hat at blending in. [00:33:11] Speaker E: All right, so let's go ahead and follow Einar and Alward first as you guys head into old lady Paisley's house. It looks like it used to be a farmhouse, but has been recently retrofitted to be more like a tavern, common area kind of place. So there's not a lot of space. And the tables are all close together, but it could be used as, like, a common area gathering. Hub. Adam is sitting at one of the tables with a big tank of water, it appears, and a plate of bread and cheese. [00:33:46] Speaker I: Good morning or afternoon? [00:33:50] Speaker B: Oh, wow, you're rubbing at it pretty early. I was expecting you'd be still sleeping off your trouble from last night. [00:34:00] Speaker I: I'm honestly not as bad as I've seen some, but we had a few questions for you. Um, raiders are here. [00:34:13] Speaker E: He, like, starts, like, scrambling to stand. [00:34:15] Speaker B: Up, and he's like, again, no, wait. [00:34:17] Speaker I: Not here, not there. [00:34:18] Speaker B: Oh. Oh. Gave me a fright, you did. [00:34:23] Speaker I: We learned from. [00:34:26] Speaker A: What was his name? [00:34:27] Speaker I: Sorry? [00:34:28] Speaker C: Bern. Not Bernice Blenhard. [00:34:34] Speaker I: We learned from ballinor that this town is having trouble with raiders. The wolf skins. [00:34:40] Speaker B: Yeah, wolf skin warriors, they call themselves. More than, you know, a mercenary like myself. Former mercenary like myself, can really stand up against. [00:34:53] Speaker I: We have some, and I'll say this in the sense that we're not part of them. Business with him the way that you specified. [00:35:02] Speaker B: That makes me uncomfortable. [00:35:04] Speaker I: Well, if I say we had business with him, it sounds like we're working with him. [00:35:08] Speaker B: Oh, right. Okay. Right. Okay. [00:35:12] Speaker I: Not all right. [00:35:14] Speaker B: Good. [00:35:14] Speaker C: Good to know the opposite, to be precise. [00:35:18] Speaker B: Oh, well, you've already won a few points in my book. [00:35:22] Speaker I: Do you know where their camp is west of town? [00:35:25] Speaker B: I don't know the exact location. They move it from time to time, but they do keep in that sort of little valley there. [00:35:34] Speaker I: And do they come on a schedule? [00:35:36] Speaker B: No, no. Anytime. Sometimes at night, sometimes during the day, sometimes on a Saturday. [00:35:43] Speaker I: They just take food, or what do they do? [00:35:45] Speaker B: Mostly food. Yeah. Our stores are really running low, and honestly, I'm worried about this upcoming winter. They've burned us out of all of our spare. Luckily, we're here into spring, but most folk are really worn thin between planting crops for this year and trying to forage for something out of the fields and woods to eat now while they're waiting for the crops. [00:36:08] Speaker I: Have you seen the leader? [00:36:09] Speaker B: No, no, he never comes by himself. Just sends his lackeys and. [00:36:13] Speaker I: What's his name? [00:36:15] Speaker B: From what I've been able to gather, it sounds like Brenga's the one in charge. But some of the other groups talked about some other names. I've heard Isolde as well. [00:36:24] Speaker I: Brenga and Isolde? [00:36:26] Speaker B: Yeah, those are the two I've heard. [00:36:29] Speaker E: Takes a bite of his bread. [00:36:31] Speaker A: I dart, looks over at our word in. Any questions you have. [00:36:36] Speaker C: When was the last time they arrived? [00:36:39] Speaker B: Oh, last raid was. Well, would have been just over two weeks now. [00:36:46] Speaker C: And what do you do during the raids? [00:36:49] Speaker B: What do I do? Well, I just make sure we've got all the women and children in one place and so that we can protect them. Because I'm the only one what knows how to swing a sword. Don't make that weird looking face at me, mister. [00:37:03] Speaker C: It's just, if you have them all in one place, it's just a central target. If they actually wanted to harm the women and children. [00:37:08] Speaker B: If they want to harm the women and children, there's not a lot we could do. We just make sure that we know where they are. [00:37:13] Speaker C: I suppose that's fair. [00:37:15] Speaker B: Luckily, the only people who've been killed or injured are those who stand up against them and refuse to kill them what they want. But really what? They seem to be just here for the spoils of war, as they call it. [00:37:25] Speaker C: So you haven't stood up against them? [00:37:27] Speaker B: I try to keep them away from people, but I'm just one man. I can't keep them away from the goods. [00:37:34] Speaker I: That is understandable. Thank you, Adam, for the information. [00:37:40] Speaker B: Of course. Yeah. And if there's any. Any other questions you think of anything else that could be of help? I mean, I don't know. Don't know what would be of help? I don't know what you're planning to do or how you're planning to go about it. [00:37:54] Speaker I: I think it was a bit of fate that led us here to save one of your townspeople and perhaps solve your issue. [00:38:05] Speaker B: Right, fate. Fate's always been on my side before. [00:38:11] Speaker I: It's a fickle thing, and I can't say I've always believed in it either. And sometimes it doesn't matter. What? Nothing goes your way. [00:38:22] Speaker C: How long have you been living here? [00:38:24] Speaker B: I think it's been three. No, no. Four years now. Four years. [00:38:33] Speaker C: What brought you here first? [00:38:35] Speaker B: Just passing through, looking for work and found a place that needed a sword and settled down. Got to like the people here. And pays? Not much. It's nothing anymore. Just, you know, enough to live off of. But, you know, you. You find people you like and you stick around, try to do what's right. [00:38:57] Speaker A: Einar just holds out his hand to shake. [00:39:01] Speaker E: Adam kind of like wipes his hand off on his tunic before accepting yours. [00:39:06] Speaker I: From one warrior to another, right? [00:39:10] Speaker B: Give you a warriors congratulations and blessing and send all the fate and luck I can with you, you're gonna need it. [00:39:19] Speaker A: Iar smiles and just taps a sword. [00:39:24] Speaker I: And a flock runs out. [00:39:26] Speaker B: Right. Cut yourself some luck out of the fabric of. Well, know where I was going with that. [00:39:32] Speaker C: Good start. [00:39:33] Speaker B: We swordsman make our own luck. I don't know. [00:39:36] Speaker I: Sometimes. [00:39:37] Speaker B: I'm gonna quit. [00:39:38] Speaker E: Warm ahead. [00:39:41] Speaker C: Let's. Let's go find the others. [00:39:44] Speaker E: All right. And as the two of you head out of old Lady Paisley's house, we. [00:39:48] Speaker C: Didn'T say hi to the old lady. [00:39:49] Speaker E: Hi. [00:39:51] Speaker A: Was she there? [00:39:52] Speaker E: I was just sitting over here knitting. I don't know why I've got a southern accent. [00:39:58] Speaker G: Because we're in South Carolina. South krong in Southmoor. [00:40:04] Speaker B: It's true. [00:40:06] Speaker E: So with that, we will then change our focus over to Val Zafir and company, who are out in the middle of town. Val, you're playing music, I presume, on your fiddle? [00:40:19] Speaker G: Yeah. [00:40:19] Speaker B: Gotcha. [00:40:20] Speaker E: Go ahead and make a performance check for me. [00:40:21] Speaker G: Oh, boy. It's been a while. I think, since I've done that, this. [00:40:25] Speaker D: Is going to determine how big or. [00:40:27] Speaker G: Small my 22 is, so, yeah, with. [00:40:30] Speaker E: The 22, your music is quite nice. It. As passers by, you know, hear you play, they'll stop and listen for a bit and move on. One of the people just kind of, like, listens for a bit and listens through another song and then just kind of, like, empties his pocket and shrugs before heading on his way. Like, I would tip you, but I can't. [00:40:53] Speaker G: That's fine. Not here for that. [00:40:56] Speaker E: Abby, did you have anything that Neros. [00:40:58] Speaker I: Was doing other than playing on the fence? [00:41:01] Speaker H: She stopped playing on the fence when everyone came outside. She's very bored, so she's probably up to no good. [00:41:08] Speaker D: After every song, zafir has clapped. Just a nice, little, modest good job. That was very good. [00:41:17] Speaker G: Thank you, zafir. [00:41:19] Speaker F: I figure I have nothing else to do, so I might as well sit here and listen and enjoy. [00:41:26] Speaker G: I appreciate it. Um, sorry I didn't say too much about it last night, but, um, I'm happy you've made your decision about the whole killing people situation. [00:41:42] Speaker F: Well, I it's. It's still a developing concept in my mind. It's been quite some time, so it hasn't come full, full effect yet. [00:41:55] Speaker G: Well, all the same priority. [00:42:01] Speaker F: Thank you. I realize that it's nicer having people around. [00:42:09] Speaker G: I'm finding that as well. It's nice. I have a whole group of people here who we can rely on, and she'll kind of focus in back to. [00:42:21] Speaker E: Her music as the two of you are kind of like, sitting there in the awkward silence. After a conversation, yilda just kind of leans forward and drops a couple coins into val's violin case and is like, how about another song? [00:42:38] Speaker G: Oh, um. Sure. Yeah. Anything in particular? [00:42:43] Speaker E: Something. Something cheery. All right. [00:42:46] Speaker G: Cheery it is. [00:42:47] Speaker F: I didn't know you had money. [00:42:52] Speaker E: I. I've got a good amount of money. [00:42:55] Speaker F: We've been paying for your room. [00:42:57] Speaker E: Well, I mean, I was sleeping in the room with. Nevermind. [00:43:01] Speaker F: Hey, Validore. [00:43:03] Speaker G: Um. [00:43:03] Speaker F: Yeah, why don't you play that, um, that. Two fetching fetchlings. [00:43:10] Speaker G: I. I thought you despised that song. Zafir Rallitz. I think that was the last thing you used to describe it. [00:43:18] Speaker F: It's. It's been a while and I've got to make sure I still don't like it. Yeah, that's. That's why. [00:43:27] Speaker G: Okay, sure. Yeah. I can give it a little rundown on what I've been working on with it. [00:43:34] Speaker E: And Val, you're just finishing the first stanza and getting ready to go into the chorus when you hear a voice. [00:43:43] Speaker B: Yilva, what are you doing here? [00:43:46] Speaker E: And that's where we'll end this episode. [00:43:48] Speaker A: Nope. [00:43:50] Speaker C: I don't like that. I don't like that. Jordy. Jordy. Can you not. That's not good. [00:43:55] Speaker E: Or too close. And the hero point for this episode goes to Sven for bringing Einar in and kind of pushing through, driving things forward in the story. [00:44:06] Speaker I: Yay. [00:44:10] Speaker G: Wow. [00:44:11] Speaker A: Thank you for letting Einar be the bulldozer, but I think I'm gonna go. [00:44:23] Speaker I: Listen to some music. [00:45:14] Speaker F: Page turn. [00:45:16] Speaker C: I like that page rip. [00:45:21] Speaker E: My question is, what do you want me to transition to you guys doing after you have a nice night of sleep? [00:45:25] Speaker C: Copious amounts of hardcore drugs, Jordan. [00:45:29] Speaker E: All right, so we have a wipe transition. Albert is just snorting lines. [00:45:34] Speaker A: Albert is wiped.
