Episode Transcript
[00:00:05] Speaker A: You are listening to an atomic broadcasting production. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the feature presentation. And remember, do your part. Such as, like, comment rate. And don't forget to tell a friend to tune in for an atomic time.
[00:00:31] Speaker B: Now, where did we leave off?
Ah, yes.
As our heroes made their way back above ground through the Thessalonian Library, they heard a scream from the main chamber, followed by a knock on the door.
[00:00:55] Speaker C: Should I just start introducing Neros as Neros of Nyxvale?
[00:00:58] Speaker D: Sure.
[00:00:58] Speaker A: Oh, I hope you give everyone psychic damage.
[00:01:03] Speaker C: That would be.
[00:01:03] Speaker E: I'm Neros.
[00:01:05] Speaker B: The barkeep just falls over dead.
[00:01:08] Speaker E: Barkeep. Barkeep.
[00:01:09] Speaker A: He failed.
[00:01:10] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:01:12] Speaker C: Not barkeep. Barkeep.
[00:01:14] Speaker B: My brain is freaking full.
[00:01:16] Speaker C: He's a Joel institution. We can't kill him.
[00:01:19] Speaker E: I mean, he's Joel in the institution now.
[00:01:23] Speaker D: Wait, what was that?
[00:01:25] Speaker C: What?
[00:01:27] Speaker D: See you, Sven. Bye.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: Sven's right there. What are you talking about? He's just left, but I'm staring right at him.
[00:01:33] Speaker C: Sven left the building.
[00:01:35] Speaker A: Who am I looking at? Are your eyeballs.
[00:01:37] Speaker C: I don't know.
[00:01:38] Speaker B: I haven't seen Sven since last episode.
[00:01:39] Speaker D: Yeah, just left.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: Sorry.
[00:01:42] Speaker D: I think you're looking at that rendition of Uvair.
[00:01:45] Speaker A: Oh, that's what I'm looking at. Okay.
[00:01:47] Speaker C: You know we have a whole memorial set up for him.
[00:01:50] Speaker A: Yeah, he's dead.
[00:01:51] Speaker C: Not Sven. Einar. We have a memorial set up for Einar.
[00:01:55] Speaker E: The memorial was there when he was here.
[00:01:57] Speaker C: Sven is not. Sven is not dead.
[00:02:00] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:02:01] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:02:01] Speaker D: Remind us to post this in the description.
[00:02:03] Speaker A: I need to cancel some flowers.
[00:02:04] Speaker B: What?
[00:02:06] Speaker C: Sven is not dead.
[00:02:09] Speaker E: I thought you were going to say I need to cancel some subscriptions.
Be like, oh, wait, I already canceled his Netflix. No, I'm sorry.
[00:02:17] Speaker A: The joke is I sent flowers to his family.
[00:02:20] Speaker E: That's such a joke.
[00:02:23] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:02:24] Speaker A: Screw you, petite.
[00:02:25] Speaker E: I mean, what does happen if you die and you have, like, Netflix or Hulu or Amazon?
[00:02:30] Speaker D: When your bank account shut off, it can't receive payments anymore. So stop.
[00:02:33] Speaker A: And then they sue your family?
[00:02:36] Speaker D: Well, no, they just cancel your subscription.
[00:02:38] Speaker E: Paid subscriptions. I know you watch Mastermind.
I saw your feed last. Last month.
[00:02:44] Speaker B: I know those Netflix hitmen.
[00:02:48] Speaker C: They're very old.
[00:02:49] Speaker E: Apparently, they open up their briefcase and you just hear, boom.
You know, the Netflix, it's hard to sing a chord.
[00:03:01] Speaker C: I mean, that's true.
Unless you have multiple. It's called a choir.
[00:03:06] Speaker E: I mean, some people could sing two notes at one time, and that's talent.
[00:03:09] Speaker C: I don't have that.
[00:03:10] Speaker E: It is. I mean, it's also really creepy.
[00:03:12] Speaker B: Why is Sven not here for that.
[00:03:14] Speaker C: Find Jacob Collier. He could probably do it.
[00:03:16] Speaker E: I don't know that person.
Yeah, he can probably do anything that happens.
[00:03:20] Speaker B: You should.
[00:03:20] Speaker C: You should look up Jacob Collier's Jenkins.
[00:03:22] Speaker E: A lot of people, like, have trouble with him. Like, not trouble with him, but, like, they. They just don't like him for some reason.
[00:03:28] Speaker C: Just because he's good.
[00:03:30] Speaker E: So good at what he does.
[00:03:31] Speaker C: I enjoy his stuff.
He has some. He has some crunchy renditions of songs that scratch my brain, and I love it.
[00:03:40] Speaker E: Crunchy? You mean like harmonic crunchy harmonics, Crunchy harmonies.
[00:03:44] Speaker C: Yeah, they're very good.
[00:03:46] Speaker E: I like those.
[00:03:46] Speaker C: I love some crunchy harmonies.
[00:03:47] Speaker E: They're not for everybody, but.
[00:03:48] Speaker C: No.
[00:03:49] Speaker E: Oh, there was this one thing that was going around TikTok, like, I think last year there was somebody singing harmonies to a song that everybody was like, that sounds terrible, but she was actually singing the harmonies. It just wasn't what you would imagine would be Right.
Music. Music theory. Jordy, do you have any input on that?
Hold on, hold on, hold on. Spend.
[00:04:13] Speaker D: He's already gone.
[00:04:14] Speaker E: Oh, right.
[00:04:15] Speaker B: He's already gone.
[00:04:17] Speaker A: I'm glad I'm not the only one who's confused by that.
[00:04:20] Speaker E: Am I crying?
[00:04:21] Speaker A: What was that?
[00:04:22] Speaker C: Are you okay?
[00:04:25] Speaker D: Every two out of five Michaels are confused by Smith.
[00:04:29] Speaker C: Every one out of five Michaels are crying right now.
[00:04:31] Speaker A: Yeah, that's facts.
[00:04:32] Speaker E: You know, the lowest common denominator of five is five.
[00:04:37] Speaker A: Get out.
Go away.
[00:04:40] Speaker E: You can't reduce five unless you divide it by one.
[00:04:44] Speaker A: Just get out.
[00:04:46] Speaker B: You say you can't reduce five, but normally we have five players at the table.
[00:04:51] Speaker C: Yeah, well, that's true.
[00:04:54] Speaker E: I feel like now that Sven's gone, I'm talking more.
What does that say?
[00:04:59] Speaker C: Someone has to fill the silence.
[00:05:01] Speaker D: Or maybe you're just awkward, nervous. Look at how you're rubbing your hands.
[00:05:05] Speaker E: Maybe. Well, my hands are kind of cold.
[00:05:06] Speaker A: But Sven is either a calming presence for petite or petite. Petite is incredibly intimidated by Svet. This is what we've learned today.
[00:05:13] Speaker E: It's probably both.
[00:05:15] Speaker C: Do you want. Since your hands are cold, do you want my blankie?
[00:05:17] Speaker E: No, thanks.
[00:05:18] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:05:18] Speaker E: Your legs are probably colder than my hands.
[00:05:20] Speaker C: I don't know.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: Fun fact. We record in a freezer.
[00:05:25] Speaker E: No, no, no.
[00:05:26] Speaker D: The fridge is not over there.
[00:05:27] Speaker E: Sam goes in the freezer. We stay outside.
[00:05:30] Speaker A: No, Sam goes in the fridge. We go in the freezer.
[00:05:33] Speaker E: Oh, right, right. That makes sense.
[00:05:34] Speaker C: So we send him to the fridge to thaw out.
[00:05:37] Speaker E: The lore is so deep.
It must be a deep freezer.
[00:05:42] Speaker B: Speaking of deep lore, you are all in an underground library that is deep and full of lore.
[00:05:52] Speaker A: Someone knocked on a door.
[00:05:54] Speaker B: Someone knocked on a door full of lore that you've never heard before.
[00:05:59] Speaker C: Or.
[00:05:59] Speaker A: Or.
[00:05:59] Speaker B: Or.
[00:06:00] Speaker C: Or.
[00:06:00] Speaker D: Actually, I think we have.
[00:06:01] Speaker A: Is it a seal?
[00:06:04] Speaker C: He's dead and washed up on the beach.
And he stinks and is covered with a divorced wife's perfume and bathrobe.
[00:06:16] Speaker A: We were watching Frasier before this episode.
[00:06:18] Speaker C: If you know what episode we are talking about, let us know.
[00:06:21] Speaker E: In the discord, we're about to meet something that possibly killed or is a flesh warp. And we're joking about this.
[00:06:27] Speaker C: It's Merus.
[00:06:31] Speaker A: Does Val open the door?
[00:06:32] Speaker B: Val, you're right next to this door and you hear the knock, knock, knock.
[00:06:35] Speaker E: You just, like, crack it open and be like, can you give us a moment? And then close it.
[00:06:40] Speaker A: I feel like we've done that before.
[00:06:42] Speaker C: Before we confront the thing behind the door, Neros puts the book of lore in her satchel.
[00:06:49] Speaker A: Nero's lore book obtained the lore.
[00:06:54] Speaker B: Hopefully later to learn more.
[00:06:56] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:06:57] Speaker D: So last time Val shrieked, who is it? When the knocking happened, out of habit.
[00:07:03] Speaker B: And fear, from the other side of the door. You hear, it is I, Lord lucien.
[00:07:11] Speaker A: Society check.
[00:07:14] Speaker B: 23 bonus. Am I right?
[00:07:16] Speaker A: Yeah, massive.
[00:07:16] Speaker D: Can I get in on the society over there?
[00:07:18] Speaker B: Sure. What's your bonus?
[00:07:19] Speaker D: My society is 14.
[00:07:22] Speaker C: Can I also get in on the society?
[00:07:23] Speaker E: Can I also get in on it?
[00:07:26] Speaker A: Everybody, let's get in on this society.
[00:07:27] Speaker D: We're in a society.
[00:07:29] Speaker B: What's Your bonus? Abby?
[00:07:30] Speaker C: 1816.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: We live in a society, surprisingly, and.
[00:07:35] Speaker D: I just want to be part of it.
[00:07:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:38] Speaker D: Is it me? You're looking at me, but I'm also in front of you.
[00:07:43] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:07:43] Speaker B: I need a moment.
[00:07:44] Speaker C: Oh.
[00:07:45] Speaker B: I need a moment to parse the results of these dice.
[00:07:47] Speaker C: Oh, no.
[00:07:48] Speaker A: I am not gonna use my time shenanigans on this.
[00:07:51] Speaker C: I will use my time shenanigans.
[00:07:54] Speaker E: He's probably gonna introduce himself anyway. Like he already does.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: He's been secretly a chrono skimmer all this time.
[00:07:59] Speaker D: Yes. I will use my knife.
[00:08:03] Speaker C: He looks like he's struggling over there.
[00:08:05] Speaker E: No better way to get to know one someone than seeing inside them.
[00:08:09] Speaker A: I didn't think all of us rolling society would break our gm.
[00:08:13] Speaker C: Jordy, are you okay?
[00:08:14] Speaker D: Imagine if Spence was walked out of the room. There'd be five society checks.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: You said your bonus was 16, Zafir.
[00:08:21] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:08:24] Speaker C: What is so funny?
[00:08:26] Speaker E: Probably because he doesn't know why I would know.
[00:08:28] Speaker B: Zafir got a natural 20.
[00:08:35] Speaker E: Thank you. Thank you, Zafir.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: You quickly skim Your mind over all of the annals of history in this region, there has never been a Lord Lucien.
[00:08:49] Speaker E: This guy doesn't exist.
[00:08:50] Speaker A: What did we get?
[00:08:54] Speaker B: Not Nat 20s, clearly, man.
[00:08:57] Speaker D: There's never once been a dude named Lucien who's also a lord in this whole region.
[00:09:02] Speaker B: That is correct.
[00:09:03] Speaker D: That's crazy.
[00:09:05] Speaker A: Lord is.
[00:09:05] Speaker D: That's such a noble name.
[00:09:06] Speaker B: It takes a critical success to be that confident. It's never happened.
[00:09:09] Speaker A: Can I make a ch.
[00:09:11] Speaker D: Dude. There's so many Chillaxians named Lucy.
[00:09:14] Speaker A: There are so many Chillaxians.
[00:09:16] Speaker B: You've never heard of one?
[00:09:18] Speaker A: What did I get?
[00:09:19] Speaker B: I won.
[00:09:20] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:09:21] Speaker D: In all of Chelx, there's never been a Lucian.
[00:09:24] Speaker A: Lucien's not a name.
[00:09:30] Speaker D: Do you happen to go by another name?
[00:09:35] Speaker B: Who are you?
[00:09:36] Speaker A: Who are you?
[00:09:38] Speaker B: What are you doing in here?
[00:09:40] Speaker D: We are researching.
[00:09:42] Speaker A: This is our label.
[00:09:43] Speaker D: What are you doing out here?
[00:09:44] Speaker B: The doorknob starts to turn.
[00:09:45] Speaker C: I was about to say, is this room close?
[00:09:48] Speaker D: I hold the door closed. What are you doing out there with the blood curdling screech and crunches?
[00:09:54] Speaker B: What are you doing in my library?
[00:09:56] Speaker C: Your library?
[00:09:57] Speaker D: This is an old, dilapidated library.
[00:10:01] Speaker B: Excuse me.
[00:10:02] Speaker C: Jordy, Is this a ghost?
[00:10:04] Speaker A: How old do these shelves look?
[00:10:07] Speaker B: The shelves?
[00:10:09] Speaker A: Like. Are there dust? Is there dust? Do they look how they've been looking?
[00:10:13] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:10:14] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:10:14] Speaker D: Where do you, Mr. Lucien, where do you hail from?
[00:10:24] Speaker B: Uh, here.
[00:10:26] Speaker A: The library.
[00:10:28] Speaker D: What do you call this place?
[00:10:30] Speaker E: Did I just.
[00:10:32] Speaker B: Well, you see, I don't have that tab up on my browser.
[00:10:36] Speaker D: Ah.
[00:10:37] Speaker E: Zafir, untrusting of this Lucian man, is now standing right next to Val.
[00:10:46] Speaker B: Of course. This is the great city of Torrende in Sarusian.
[00:10:51] Speaker C: Oh, he's a freakin ghost.
[00:10:55] Speaker D: Albert.
[00:10:56] Speaker A: What?
[00:10:56] Speaker D: Do you know what that means?
[00:10:58] Speaker A: Do I know what that means?
[00:11:00] Speaker B: You're a master in society.
[00:11:02] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:11:03] Speaker B: You know about Torrende? It is an ancient city that was pre earthfall that was under the rule of the Runelords.
[00:11:11] Speaker A: How is this guy speaking? Common.
[00:11:13] Speaker D: What if he's one of those flesh warps?
[00:11:16] Speaker E: So, quick question.
When you say that there isn't anyone named Lucien, does that mean there hasn't been anyone?
[00:11:24] Speaker B: Not in any of the history that Zafir has been able to study?
[00:11:30] Speaker E: I'm glad you put it that way.
[00:11:33] Speaker D: Should I just open the door?
Should I just.
[00:11:36] Speaker B: I like that idea.
[00:11:37] Speaker D: I'm not talking to Elucien.
[00:11:40] Speaker E: What are you doing down here?
[00:11:41] Speaker A: We have to go through there.
[00:11:44] Speaker E: Can I talk to him for a moment?
[00:11:48] Speaker D: Sure, I guess.
[00:11:49] Speaker E: Lucine?
[00:11:50] Speaker B: Yes?
[00:11:51] Speaker E: We've been through a lot and we don't really trust people. Random people.
What are you doing here?
[00:11:57] Speaker B: I'm none of your business.
[00:12:01] Speaker E: Are you here to read or are you here to kill?
[00:12:03] Speaker B: I've had enough of this. And you just hear.
[00:12:07] Speaker D: He'S leaving?
[00:12:10] Speaker E: I think the ghost is clear. Is that the right word?
[00:12:13] Speaker D: I'm gonna peek out the door.
[00:12:14] Speaker E: The ghost is clear as you peek out the door.
[00:12:17] Speaker D: I hate that.
[00:12:18] Speaker B: You see a very tall, skinny creature with four legs walking away from you towards these side doors that go into the chapel.
[00:12:29] Speaker A: Wait till he goes in the chapel and then we'll just run out.
[00:12:32] Speaker B: You have dark vision, right?
[00:12:33] Speaker D: I do.
[00:12:34] Speaker B: On the other side of the room, across the grate in the center, I can see that.
[00:12:39] Speaker D: I don't like that.
[00:12:40] Speaker B: There is a massive, obese, like, ogre shaped form, quite rude, that's holding just like a glob of flesh and is just slowly eating it.
[00:12:52] Speaker D: Are these, like, demons?
[00:12:54] Speaker B: They don't seem demonish.
[00:12:57] Speaker D: So are they the flesh orbs we've seen before?
[00:12:59] Speaker B: No.
[00:13:00] Speaker D: No.
Lucien.
[00:13:04] Speaker B: The closer the tall and skinny one turns around. Ah, I see. You have finally seen fit to open the door.
[00:13:11] Speaker D: What is that?
[00:13:12] Speaker B: A door? It's a door.
[00:13:14] Speaker D: I point at the big.
[00:13:16] Speaker B: Oh, that's Bastion.
[00:13:19] Speaker D: Um, okay, listen, I'm gonna come right out and say this. You guys look kinda weird.
What's going on?
[00:13:27] Speaker B: Well, you're no spring chicken yourself.
[00:13:29] Speaker D: Well, thanks, but what's going on with that? Why don't you guys look like people from this area?
[00:13:36] Speaker E: Good save, Val.
[00:13:37] Speaker A: Do I see them?
[00:13:39] Speaker B: Where are you?
[00:13:40] Speaker A: I'm gonna move up to the door.
[00:13:42] Speaker D: I've got the door, like, partly open.
[00:13:44] Speaker E: We're all just peeking through the door one head, Scooby Doo style. I'm at the bottom, Val's at the top.
[00:13:49] Speaker B: Neros, are you up by the door too?
[00:13:51] Speaker C: Why not?
You know, mind blown, arms burning.
Yes, by the door.
[00:13:58] Speaker E: We have other chickens to cook.
Is that how that goat works? Close enough other gooses to gander.
I don't think that's.
[00:14:07] Speaker A: I like that saying. It's a good one.
[00:14:10] Speaker B: So you are ask. You've barged into my library and you're asking why I look strange?
[00:14:16] Speaker D: Well, we've been here a lot and I've never seen you before.
[00:14:19] Speaker B: Well, thank you for admitting that. I will be sure to note this down when I contact the authorities.
[00:14:25] Speaker E: It's a nice library you've got. Lots of books with lots of words in them.
[00:14:29] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:14:30] Speaker A: I don't think you should contact the authorities.
[00:14:33] Speaker B: And why is that? Are you threatening me?
[00:14:35] Speaker A: No, I'm Not.
[00:14:39] Speaker C: You sound unsure.
[00:14:42] Speaker E: It's true. He doesn't.
[00:14:44] Speaker A: Out of all of my readings of flesh warps, do these look like flesh warps?
[00:14:49] Speaker B: What is your occultism bonus?
[00:14:51] Speaker A: I have flesh warp lore.
[00:14:52] Speaker B: Oh. What's your flesh warp lore?
[00:14:53] Speaker A: You gave me fresh.
[00:14:57] Speaker D: Do they remind me of Cornelius?
[00:14:58] Speaker B: What's your fresh prince lore.
[00:15:01] Speaker C: Of Bel Air?
[00:15:02] Speaker D: I'll tell you a story.
[00:15:04] Speaker A: I'm trained in it, so it would be.
[00:15:07] Speaker D: I hung out with Cornelius a long time. Are they like him?
[00:15:11] Speaker B: They really remind you of Cornelius?
[00:15:12] Speaker A: Okay, it'd be 17.
[00:15:16] Speaker B: These are flesh warps. You are confident? They are fleshwarps. Okay, but they're a little bit weird.
[00:15:21] Speaker A: I was about to say my fleshwarp aura is specifically Thassilonian flesh warps.
[00:15:26] Speaker B: So you note two things as you're observing. The way they talk and move and their anatomy. First off, they're clearly the results of flesh warping. But the weirdest part about it is this creature Lucien that you're talking to seems very self assured. For a flesh warp. They usually tend to be a lot more docile or servile.
[00:15:46] Speaker A: Would it be okay if we just left?
[00:15:49] Speaker B: Oh, but of course.
[00:15:50] Speaker D: But I've got things I want to look at here.
[00:15:53] Speaker A: What things?
[00:15:54] Speaker D: I was gonna look into prophecies.
[00:15:56] Speaker A: Do you read Ancient Thessalonian.
[00:15:59] Speaker E: I have a thing for that.
[00:16:03] Speaker B: Oh, that's mine. That's mine.
[00:16:06] Speaker E: Wait. My book?
[00:16:06] Speaker B: Yeah, that book is mine. You should put it back on the shelf where you got it from.
[00:16:10] Speaker E: Well, I actually didn't get it off the shelf.
[00:16:12] Speaker B: Well, that's a convincing lie.
[00:16:15] Speaker A: Zafir, just go put it back on the shelf.
[00:16:20] Speaker E: I do not understand the Thessalonian Dewey decimal system.
I'll have to put it in the book return.
[00:16:27] Speaker B: Just set it on the first table you see. I'll shelve it myself.
[00:16:30] Speaker D: He got it from a friend of his while you're in another class.
[00:16:32] Speaker E: Don't worry about it. I'll do something.
I'm going to move away from the door.
[00:16:38] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:16:39] Speaker E: And then put it in my pocket and move back to the door.
[00:16:41] Speaker D: Val's gonna step forward.
Listen, Lucien, whatever your name is, I don't appreciate how you're walking in here and throwing around all this.
[00:16:54] Speaker A: He's a lord. Yeah, he introduced. It's Lord Lucien.
[00:16:58] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:16:59] Speaker A: You disrespected him.
[00:17:00] Speaker D: Well, he's disrespected us already, so I don't much care at all.
[00:17:06] Speaker C: You're getting a little aggressive very soon.
[00:17:09] Speaker D: I just. That's not his book, and it was never his book. And it was our book, and I don't appreciate him throwing out.
[00:17:16] Speaker C: I don't know where the book came from.
[00:17:18] Speaker D: It came from Uwe.
[00:17:20] Speaker A: I'm going to grab. You don't know where Uwe got it from Val's shoulder. And, like, sidebar with her. Like. Look, they seem. We could just leave.
[00:17:28] Speaker D: Well, we could just talk to them, but why?
[00:17:31] Speaker C: You're very. You're being very aggressive. Why are we needing to talk to them when they're letting us leave?
[00:17:36] Speaker D: Well, I mean, they seem really old, and they might have a lot of information.
[00:17:40] Speaker C: Okay, I.
We should just go, though.
[00:17:45] Speaker A: Be polite, at least.
[00:17:47] Speaker D: I was trying to.
[00:17:49] Speaker B: That.
[00:17:49] Speaker C: That was not polite.
[00:17:51] Speaker D: I was. Before that, I was polite.
[00:17:53] Speaker B: Crack.
On the other side of the room, the large creature has just snapped the bone of whatever he was eating the meat off of and. And start slurping the marrow out.
[00:18:04] Speaker A: You guys didn't see a tall, strong young man come through here, did you?
[00:18:12] Speaker B: Lucien just straightens up.
Looking for someone?
[00:18:17] Speaker A: A friend of ours. Yes.
[00:18:20] Speaker B: Well, I suppose we could get to know each other better.
[00:18:24] Speaker A: Not you.
You don't look like my friend, sir.
[00:18:29] Speaker B: Well, you don't look like my friend.
[00:18:31] Speaker A: I'm not saying you don't look like a friend. Just not the friend we're looking for.
[00:18:34] Speaker E: Sir Lucyn.
[00:18:36] Speaker B: Lord. Lucy. Lord.
[00:18:37] Speaker E: Sir. Lord. Lord. Sir.
This is going to sound like a weird question, but what year is it?
[00:18:44] Speaker B: Well, how should I know?
You tell me.
You look like the sort of creature who would care about the passage of time.
[00:18:54] Speaker D: Do you not care about the passage of time, Lord Lucio.
[00:18:57] Speaker B: Pish posh.
[00:18:58] Speaker A: What's your friend's name?
[00:19:00] Speaker B: Bastion.
[00:19:01] Speaker A: Bastian.
[00:19:02] Speaker E: You already said. I mean, he already. Who am I talking.
[00:19:04] Speaker B: It's all right. It's all right. He looks like the sort of fellow who would have trouble remembering things.
[00:19:09] Speaker E: Sure, sure.
Right now I feel like I'm being the most nice to him.
[00:19:13] Speaker C: I'm gonna step out of the doorway.
[00:19:15] Speaker A: I haven't been rude.
[00:19:16] Speaker D: I tried to be.
[00:19:17] Speaker A: I'm gonna step in the room.
What is Bastion eating?
[00:19:22] Speaker B: Oh, that's a very good question, and I don't know if it has an answer.
[00:19:29] Speaker E: It's not our friend. Was. It?
Is. Was.
[00:19:31] Speaker B: I don't know. What was your friend?
[00:19:34] Speaker E: Well, he was a man.
[00:19:36] Speaker B: Oh, well, then he's not eating him.
[00:19:37] Speaker E: Oh, he was eating a woman, then.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: Well, you know, I don't know its gender.
Don't even know its species.
Does it have a.
Does there have to be more than one instance of a creature to count as a species? Discuss.
[00:19:58] Speaker C: I Would like to go now.
[00:20:01] Speaker A: Do you think he's. They're eating grom.
[00:20:03] Speaker D: I think if you can be an orphan, you can be an only part of a species.
[00:20:08] Speaker B: Ah, well spoken. It's been excellent meeting you.
Time focused one, forgetful one and orphaned one.
[00:20:16] Speaker E: You can call me Zephyr.
Would really be okay if we came back at some point and just, you know.
[00:20:23] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:20:24] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:20:25] Speaker B: Please, never come back. Oh, unless you're bringing food for Bastion. He has quite the appetite. And as Lucien says, that Bastion just like finishes with the bone. He's eating like sets it down and then just starts looking at each of you.
[00:20:40] Speaker A: You know, nevermind.
[00:20:43] Speaker D: So what do you do around here?
[00:20:45] Speaker E: Can we ensure that he doesn't eat us? No, he is between us and the door.
[00:20:50] Speaker B: Well, you know, I'm not one to stand between Bastion and Emil.
[00:20:54] Speaker A: Why doesn't he eat you?
[00:20:56] Speaker B: Well, he knows better.
[00:20:59] Speaker E: You are literally standing between him and us. So technically that means we're not a meal. So we're clear to go.
[00:21:05] Speaker B: Thank you for clearing that up. And he steps to the side.
[00:21:08] Speaker D: Oh, actually I do have a quick question for you, Lord Lucian.
[00:21:12] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:21:13] Speaker D: Across those doors there's a little church chapel thing. Yes, little sanctuary.
Do you worship there? Do you like that guy?
[00:21:19] Speaker B: Heavens no. I'm not one to go in for the sort of religious drivel.
[00:21:23] Speaker D: Have you ever met that guy, that runelord that they worship in there?
[00:21:29] Speaker B: Why don't we move the topic to other matters?
[00:21:32] Speaker E: If this is your library, why do you have a chapel of someone you don't think about?
[00:21:37] Speaker B: Sebastian. Were you finished?
[00:21:38] Speaker E: I'm just curious. My guy.
My guy.
[00:21:46] Speaker A: I'm sorry I had to do this. I got a 40 on my biographical eye check.
That's a critical success.
[00:21:56] Speaker B: I don't.
I don't think it works.
[00:21:58] Speaker A: That's understandable.
[00:21:59] Speaker B: I think that's the best answer for this case.
[00:22:01] Speaker A: That's understand. I thought I'd give it a shot. It's understandable. These aren't really people.
[00:22:06] Speaker E: That's so rude.
[00:22:08] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:22:08] Speaker D: You're also saying Cornelius Cornelius wasn't a person.
[00:22:12] Speaker A: Would it work on Cornelius?
[00:22:14] Speaker B: I'm gonna say it would work on Cornelius because you would be aware of the biographical elements that Cornelius had interacted with.
So let's do this. You got a critical success on your biographical eye on this fellow. Yeah.
And what you learn about him is that nothing of what you're reading on him makes sense.
[00:22:36] Speaker A: Got it.
[00:22:37] Speaker B: You know, it'd be like. You know where it mentions on biographical eye, like you might notice some green under somebody's fingernails to know they're an herbalist and stuff. And you're noticing a whole ton of clues and you're just like, what does that mean?
So whatever situation he's in, whatever he does for profession, wherever he lives, the clues you're picking up, you don't know what they're talking about. So it would be like clues that somebody's from France, but you've never heard of France.
[00:23:01] Speaker A: Got it.
[00:23:02] Speaker E: I'm looking something up.
[00:23:04] Speaker B: Get out of my library.
[00:23:07] Speaker D: Technically, we're not in your library. In the library right now.
[00:23:10] Speaker B: It sounded like he was talking about going back into my library and I just. It gets me all in a tizzy.
[00:23:16] Speaker D: Can I like actually real sense motive to see like he's lying about there being his library?
[00:23:21] Speaker B: Sure. What's your perception bonus?
[00:23:23] Speaker D: 15.
[00:23:31] Speaker B: Oh, he's lying.
[00:23:33] Speaker E: Zafir turns around, it does. Does 180.
And then he turns back around and you see his lips are significantly more.
My notes say ornate and I don't know how that works.
[00:23:46] Speaker A: What shade goes good with your skin tone?
[00:23:49] Speaker D: Or does it go with your skin tone? Yeah.
[00:23:51] Speaker A: Or doesn't go, it's just black.
[00:23:54] Speaker E: And he looks up at this thing, he says, we're going to go and we will never come back. And you know, you've been wonderful and lovely and I don't think this is how this works, but you know, it's.
Let's go.
[00:24:17] Speaker B: Go ahead and make your choice of diplomacy or deception. Whether or not you're being sincere. You choose.
[00:24:23] Speaker E: So not being sincere, do I need to do it or do you do it?
[00:24:27] Speaker B: Oh, I should roll it. What's your bonus?
[00:24:28] Speaker E: I was about to say that.
15.
And then the lipstick gives me a plus four status bonus.
[00:24:35] Speaker A: That's a good plus bonus.
[00:24:38] Speaker B: Now hold on a moment.
[00:24:39] Speaker E: Holding.
[00:24:40] Speaker B: I very much appreciate your deferential tone. Your friends could learn much from you. But how do I know you're not coming back?
[00:24:50] Speaker E: Well, for one thing, I can't read.
[00:24:58] Speaker A: It's true.
[00:24:58] Speaker C: It's true.
[00:24:59] Speaker A: I'm teaching him.
[00:25:00] Speaker E: But there's not much reason for me. And I like to keep them close so I wouldn't let them come back.
[00:25:06] Speaker B: And you all would submit to this?
[00:25:11] Speaker E: I look back and I kind of do the hand. Come on guys. Yeah.
[00:25:17] Speaker A: What use do we have of ancient forgotten knowledge lost to history and time?
[00:25:23] Speaker E: It's new knowledge. If you've been listening, sir, it's current knowledge. Uh huh.
[00:25:30] Speaker A: A tear rolls down our chins.
[00:25:33] Speaker B: Are Val and Neros just silent?
[00:25:36] Speaker C: I mean, Neros just Is like nodding in agreement to everything staring at him.
[00:25:43] Speaker E: And a plus, Lord Lucien, if we come back, obviously you have some sort of protection over there.
Would possibly devour us if we did.
[00:26:00] Speaker B: Lucien looks behind him, looks back.
Oh, you mean Bastion. Yes, well, I suppose he could be formidable, perhaps to such creatures as yourselves.
[00:26:13] Speaker E: So, I mean, you understand, we graciously accept your second chance at leaving, and we would like to take that opportunity and to ensure our non return. You do have Bastion over there to make sure that we don't.
And if we do, he gets a meal, obviously.
To be blunt. I'm sorry.
[00:26:40] Speaker B: That does sound like a good deal.
Your tall friend there just seems a little unconvinced.
[00:26:48] Speaker E: She's been through a lot, and I'll be honest, sometimes I don't know where her head is lying.
I mean, in about five minutes, she'll probably be on the other side of things, so not to worry.
[00:27:01] Speaker B: Not to worry? I've dealt with obstinate fools such as this before.
Now, you charming young lady, Question mark.
[00:27:16] Speaker C: Wow.
[00:27:17] Speaker B: Why don't you run along home and take your friends with you?
I'll need a wheel safe.
[00:27:25] Speaker A: I don't like that.
I don't.
I don't like that.
Ooh, hero. Point being spent.
[00:27:33] Speaker D: I had rolled E2.32. That's 15 on that day.
[00:27:40] Speaker B: Nothing happens.
[00:27:42] Speaker D: Do I know that? He just did that? No, no.
Oh, you're.
[00:27:48] Speaker B: The appearance to you all is just what he just said. Why don't you run along home and take your friends with you?
[00:27:53] Speaker E: Lord Lucien, if I may.
I'm clearly the leader here.
[00:27:57] Speaker B: Oh, yes.
[00:28:00] Speaker E: You may.
We can go. You don't need to speak to them. Not an order, but a suggestion.
[00:28:09] Speaker B: Now, on a leader to leader basis.
And Zafir, you alone, hear him whispering in your ear.
If you'd like, I could rid you of the troublesome one. Bastion could use another meal.
[00:28:24] Speaker A: The amount of times that Zafir gets the ability to just kill one of us.
[00:28:28] Speaker E: How close am I to him?
[00:28:30] Speaker B: To Lucien?
[00:28:31] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:28:31] Speaker B: You're, like, right next to him.
[00:28:32] Speaker E: He hears a message whispering in his ear. I don't know how this works in such close proximity, but he hears it going.
She's useful in battle.
[00:28:45] Speaker B: As well as the others messaging back. I understand, I understand.
[00:28:52] Speaker A: Can we go?
[00:28:53] Speaker B: Yeah. To you all, perspective. They're just looking at each other silently.
[00:28:59] Speaker A: I don't.
Can we leave?
[00:29:02] Speaker B: Yes. Why don't you all just run along?
[00:29:06] Speaker E: Could you make sure that Bastion, you know.
[00:29:09] Speaker B: Yes, Bastion. Go clean up the dining room.
Bastion just, like, stands up and just and just wanders off into one of those rooms that had, like, the massive sealed doors with the looky loos that you now notice. The door is hanging open and he just wanders into that room.
[00:29:32] Speaker E: I hope he finds some more meals in the dining room.
[00:29:35] Speaker A: Does he eat bone?
[00:29:37] Speaker B: He eats just about everything.
[00:29:39] Speaker A: There are skeletons in the other room.
[00:29:41] Speaker E: Don't send him there just yet.
It's not very many.
Let's go.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:49] Speaker E: Thank you, Lord Lucien.
[00:29:52] Speaker B: But of course, I am a gracious lord to all.
[00:29:58] Speaker E: Well, everyone, let's get a little wiggle on.
[00:30:03] Speaker A: What?
[00:30:06] Speaker D: He's channeling Hugh Grant.
[00:30:08] Speaker E: I am referencing another of our shows. Thank you very much.
[00:30:12] Speaker D: Get a wig on.
Oh, yeah, that. Which is a reference to Hugh Grant.
[00:30:18] Speaker E: I'm referencing you, sir. Anyway, do you all follow me or not?
[00:30:24] Speaker A: Yeah, why wouldn't we?
[00:30:26] Speaker D: Val will begrudgingly go and mutter, this is so sweet. Stupid to herself.
[00:30:31] Speaker C: Yeah, Nero's is gonna strut out of there.
[00:30:36] Speaker D: I'm stare at the haggers that Lucy and Will.
[00:30:38] Speaker E: We leave as soon as we get to the stairs. Is that chalk stuff still there?
[00:30:43] Speaker B: It is.
[00:30:44] Speaker E: Okay. Like, not like, messed up or anything.
[00:30:47] Speaker B: No, not on the stairs. The markings out in the main room are all smudged.
[00:30:53] Speaker E: So, like, outside the door doors?
[00:30:55] Speaker C: Yeah, that tracks.
[00:30:57] Speaker E: I wonder who did that. Maybe it was Garn.
[00:31:00] Speaker C: What if it was Uvair?
[00:31:02] Speaker A: Oh, Garn will expect something from us.
[00:31:04] Speaker E: I think I've got plenty. Don't worry.
[00:31:07] Speaker A: Oh, what?
[00:31:08] Speaker E: Let's go.
[00:31:10] Speaker B: So you guys head north out of the chamber, go up the stairs, and you reach the point where there's the broken floor of the arena. That just is a straight drop down into the room you're in.
[00:31:23] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:31:26] Speaker E: Val, you can fly, right?
[00:31:27] Speaker C: We use. We did have a rope the last time to get down here. Is it still there? Dang it.
[00:31:32] Speaker A: Who moved the rope?
[00:31:33] Speaker D: I can fly for 10 minutes a day.
[00:31:35] Speaker C: I also have it.
[00:31:36] Speaker E: Oh, you already flew today, didn't you?
[00:31:38] Speaker D: I did already fly today.
[00:31:40] Speaker C: I do have more rope.
[00:31:42] Speaker D: Is it 30ft? Could you just pop up there with your shadow staff?
[00:31:46] Speaker B: I'd like to point out, just for you all, I'm not gonna ask a perception check for something.
This means that Einar has not come this way.
[00:31:54] Speaker A: Yeah, we're gonna continue to ignore that.
[00:31:57] Speaker C: Hoping that he got out somehow and he hasn't just disappeared.
[00:32:00] Speaker A: Give me the rope.
[00:32:02] Speaker C: I pass you the rope.
[00:32:03] Speaker A: Alward's going to fly up the 30ft and tie the rope off. You fly?
[00:32:08] Speaker C: You fly.
[00:32:09] Speaker A: I have the spell. Fly.
[00:32:11] Speaker B: What?
[00:32:11] Speaker A: Oh, it's part of my Telekinetic port. Wows.
[00:32:14] Speaker D: Oh, that's cool.
[00:32:15] Speaker C: Okay, where have you been hiding that?
[00:32:18] Speaker A: It's never useful.
[00:32:20] Speaker E: It is now. What time is it?
[00:32:22] Speaker C: Like, is it daytime?
[00:32:24] Speaker E: I don't really care what time exactly. I just want to know if it's daytime or night time.
[00:32:27] Speaker B: 6:47Am oh, so it's.
[00:32:30] Speaker C: Oh, it's been a while.
Wait, we're tired.
[00:32:35] Speaker D: Didn't we leave to mother in the evening?
[00:32:38] Speaker E: Yeah, we walked aways eight hours.
[00:32:44] Speaker C: Okay. The look Jordy's giving us right now.
[00:32:46] Speaker D: Says the time is not right. It should not be this time, my friend.
[00:32:51] Speaker E: We'd walk down a very long tunnel.
[00:32:52] Speaker A: Yeah, but he's only 13.7 minutes or something like that.
[00:32:55] Speaker B: 13 minutes, 47 seconds that we know of.
[00:32:58] Speaker A: Fair.
[00:32:59] Speaker E: It's probably back in time 1300 years.
[00:33:01] Speaker A: No, I asked that about the shelves and he said no. They look exactly the same.
[00:33:06] Speaker E: I mean, it could just be really old.
[00:33:08] Speaker B: Really old.
[00:33:10] Speaker C: Anyway, everyone shimmy up the rope. Yes.
[00:33:13] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:33:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
And you are back in that hallway of the arena where you found the flaming. Well, they weren't flaming when he found them, but you found the brooms in the room closet and you lit them on fire.
[00:33:26] Speaker D: Are they still on fire?
[00:33:28] Speaker B: Well, they're not here anymore.
[00:33:29] Speaker E: They probably burned up.
[00:33:31] Speaker D: Oh, right.
[00:33:32] Speaker E: May I open that door to the broom closet? Yeah, sure.
[00:33:36] Speaker B: Let me actually pull up that map for you.
[00:33:38] Speaker A: This is really fun going through an old dungeon that we went through and having to like. Like, things are different now. Very, very good.
[00:33:46] Speaker E: Oh, look at that. There it is.
Our old stomping grounds.
[00:33:55] Speaker C: Aw. That's where I slapped a guy in the face with a tentacle arm.
[00:33:58] Speaker A: Was that the first?
[00:33:59] Speaker C: And he almost killed me.
[00:34:00] Speaker D: And then you melted his face and killed him.
[00:34:03] Speaker C: Because he almost killed me.
[00:34:04] Speaker E: It's so fitting for the episode that we're on.
[00:34:08] Speaker D: Episode 100.
[00:34:10] Speaker C: Episode 100?
[00:34:12] Speaker A: I thought we were 99.
[00:34:13] Speaker C: The Centennial we. So we've been around 100 episodes.
[00:34:17] Speaker B: This seems like an apt time to say, yeah, sorry.
[00:34:22] Speaker C: Good job, guys. And Sven isn't here.
[00:34:25] Speaker E: Hey, what's in this closet?
[00:34:27] Speaker B: In the closet? Let's see. Casting my mind back, like, 80 episodes.
There are some assorted buckets.
There's a feather duster, there's a hammer.
[00:34:38] Speaker D: If you want hammers and tongs.
[00:34:41] Speaker B: No, more of, like a carpentry hammer.
[00:34:43] Speaker C: Anything worth stealing?
[00:34:46] Speaker E: It's not stealing if it doesn't belong to anyone.
[00:34:49] Speaker C: Anyway, I'm gonna go out into the arena.
[00:34:52] Speaker A: I will follow.
[00:34:54] Speaker E: I'm gonna take the hammer and the feather duster. Since you specified it.
[00:34:58] Speaker A: Are you a hoarder now?
[00:34:59] Speaker E: Maybe.
[00:35:01] Speaker B: As you're heading towards the arena, you hear just like shuffling and like items knocking against each other. Down the hall, to the left in the staging room where gladiators would prepare for battle.
[00:35:13] Speaker E: I know what happened last time we were there.
[00:35:16] Speaker A: It's probably gone.
Gorn.
[00:35:19] Speaker C: Garn.
[00:35:19] Speaker A: Garn.
[00:35:21] Speaker B: Just before you make it to the doorway, you see Garn as a small green skinned figure with a huge gaping mouth. And he's got like a mountainous pile of like, equipment and supplies on his back and, like carefully tied together with ropes. And he just looks at you, goes, I was, I was, I.
[00:35:44] Speaker A: It's okay, Garn. You can have all of that.
[00:35:47] Speaker E: Would you like.
[00:35:47] Speaker B: That wasn't my question.
[00:35:48] Speaker A: Don't go downstairs.
[00:35:50] Speaker B: Good call. Thanks. He just starts walking out of the arena.
[00:35:54] Speaker E: Okay, goodbye.
I was gonna give him a hammer.
[00:35:57] Speaker D: Are you leaving?
[00:35:58] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
[00:35:59] Speaker D: Like you're moving.
[00:36:01] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:36:01] Speaker D: Is there a reason?
[00:36:03] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:36:03] Speaker E: Why?
[00:36:04] Speaker D: What is that reason?
[00:36:05] Speaker B: It's not safe here anymore.
[00:36:07] Speaker D: Why not?
[00:36:10] Speaker B: He looks up now that he's like in the doorway entering into the arena, and he just goes, bad things are coming.
[00:36:19] Speaker D: I'm gonna quickly go out into the arena to look up. Very quickly.
Something happened to the sky.
[00:36:28] Speaker B: The sky above you is lit from one side with the sun that's just beginning to rise.
But if you look to the south, there is a massive dark storm front slowly rolling in from the Kodar Mountains.
Do you have, what's your nature skill, Val?
[00:36:52] Speaker D: It's trained and I have a plus 14.
[00:36:54] Speaker B: And your survival?
[00:36:58] Speaker D: I believe it's the same. It's the exact same.
[00:37:02] Speaker B: That storm's not natural.
There are no weather patterns that would have predicted this.
That storm is too cohesive and moving too slowly for its intensity award.
[00:37:16] Speaker D: Could you look at that?
[00:37:18] Speaker A: Sure.
And I'm going to look at the store.
[00:37:22] Speaker B: What are your nature and survival?
[00:37:24] Speaker A: 15.
[00:37:26] Speaker B: I mean, that could be natural. It could just be a storm.
[00:37:29] Speaker A: It's fair.
I. I'm not a storm watcher, Val.
[00:37:35] Speaker D: And the sun is rising and it was just dark when we left.
[00:37:40] Speaker A: I mean, it was setting when we left. Yeah, yeah.
[00:37:43] Speaker D: We weren't gone for all night.
[00:37:47] Speaker C: Apparently.
[00:37:47] Speaker A: We were a couple hours to get to and then wait.
[00:37:52] Speaker D: But we only went down that tunnel.
[00:37:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:54] Speaker D: For 15 minutes and then we were back in town.
[00:37:58] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't know.
[00:38:01] Speaker E: Could time have slowed down while we were battling Mother?
[00:38:07] Speaker A: It would have sped up, but I mean, theoretically we're existing in a timeline that has never existed before.
But I'm hoping that's not correct. And we find Einar.
[00:38:23] Speaker E: I'm not sure how I feel about this.
It's just a good or bad thing.
[00:38:28] Speaker A: There are no dogs.
[00:38:29] Speaker D: The storm is a very bad thing.
[00:38:31] Speaker E: Oh, I haven't seen dogs in a while.
[00:38:36] Speaker B: Who's got the best perception Bonus?
[00:38:37] Speaker A: I think that's Val.
[00:38:39] Speaker D: Really?
[00:38:39] Speaker A: I think.
[00:38:40] Speaker E: What's your perception?
[00:38:41] Speaker D: 15.
[00:38:42] Speaker E: Oh, no, mine's at 17.
[00:38:43] Speaker A: Oh, mine's at 16.
I'm sorry?
[00:38:48] Speaker C: Oh, mine's also 15.
[00:38:49] Speaker E: Oh, well, then I guess I assumed.
[00:38:50] Speaker A: You had really high wisdom.
[00:38:52] Speaker B: So, Zafir, you were the last one to make it out of the arena, kind of bringing up the rear of their group. And when you step outside, you're kind of looking up, noticing the sky that everybody else was talking about. But you're also the first to notice just kind of vague sounds of hubbub.
And then as you start zeroing in on that and listening, you start realizing that's not sound. Sounds of a hubbub. That sounds like a violent struggle a couple streets down.
[00:39:22] Speaker C: Oh, jeez.
[00:39:25] Speaker E: I know. The sounds of screams of terror.
And that sounds vaguely similar. Does anybody want to do some heroing?
[00:39:36] Speaker A: Not particularly, but I guess we should.
[00:39:41] Speaker E: We should probably go check out that sound that we're hearing over there.
[00:39:44] Speaker D: And that's like out of the arena into the street.
[00:39:47] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:39:48] Speaker D: Val's gonna start running.
[00:39:49] Speaker E: Hubbub means how many people?
[00:39:56] Speaker B: It sounds like there might be somewhere between a dozen and 20 people involved.
[00:40:01] Speaker E: Okay, so it's not the whole town. At least that's what I was worried about.
I'm gonna follow Val close behind as.
[00:40:08] Speaker B: You make your way out of the arena and you start running through the city streets, there's like an eerie calm. It kind of feels like the eye of the storm sort of situation. As you're making your way towards that excitement and hubbub, you round the corner and what you see ahead of you is civilians who are doing their best to ward off, whether by throwing crates or hiding behind market soldiers stalls. Four or five of those gemstone imbued gargoyles that you fought at the Aeridson estate.
[00:40:42] Speaker D: I mean, I didn't fight them.
[00:40:44] Speaker B: Val did not fight them.
[00:40:47] Speaker D: It's fight dab.
[00:40:49] Speaker E: Huh?
[00:40:51] Speaker D: Fight or flight Storms out, glaves out.
[00:40:56] Speaker A: Forgoing my initiative role, if you must know.
[00:41:00] Speaker D: Time to roll. Initiative.
[00:41:01] Speaker A: He's about to say it. What did he say? He's about to.
[00:41:06] Speaker B: I'd like you all to roll for initiative.
[00:41:08] Speaker D: What?
[00:41:09] Speaker E: Get wrecked.
[00:41:09] Speaker A: I did.
[00:41:10] Speaker D: I would have never seen that coming.
[00:41:11] Speaker A: Except I didn't I foregoed my initiative.
[00:41:13] Speaker C: I never would have known that we were rolling initiative.
[00:41:15] Speaker D: I wouldn't.
[00:41:16] Speaker A: I'm concerned how they got more of them.
[00:41:19] Speaker D: They're attacking the city and they're expecting to have the undead backing them up.
[00:41:24] Speaker B: All right, Zafir, what is your initiative?
[00:41:27] Speaker A: 30 neros 26 hour breaking ties with a nice 35.
[00:41:37] Speaker D: And Val 27.
[00:41:39] Speaker C: Yay. I'm last.
[00:41:40] Speaker B: All right.
[00:41:41] Speaker A: I mean, the gargoyles.
[00:41:42] Speaker C: I like being last in initiative.
[00:41:44] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
[00:41:45] Speaker B: All right, Albert, you've entered the streets. You can see the gargoyles ahead of you. Oh, wow. They're really far away. Like 80ft. 80 to 100ft away, depending on what part of the group you're in.
[00:41:58] Speaker D: I'm going to be worthless for at least one turn.
[00:42:08] Speaker A: Okay. So for my turn, I'm going to cast loose times arrow and give all of us quickened with an asterisk, allowing us to make a move action as a free action.
And then I'm going to cast time jump and move.
My movement's 35.
Why am I so fast?
70ft in the direction of the combat while time is frozen.
[00:42:40] Speaker B: So that'll get you to the corner of the building.
[00:42:43] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:42:43] Speaker B: Entering the market square. So now you are 20ft away from the closest gargoyle.
[00:42:48] Speaker A: And it looks like I just kind of appear there. And that is my turn.
[00:42:52] Speaker D: Risky move from outward early in the game, moving up really close to all these melee focused enemies.
[00:42:56] Speaker B: I really hope that's right, Sam. Let's see if it pays off.
[00:42:59] Speaker A: I really hope it does. I don't want people to die.
[00:43:02] Speaker C: What if I do?
[00:43:04] Speaker A: I would be. We just learned something about you. You're not allowed to die.
[00:43:08] Speaker C: I didn't. I wasn't talking about me.
[00:43:09] Speaker B: All right, Zafir, I would like to.
[00:43:11] Speaker E: Ask, is there a shadow under this awning?
[00:43:16] Speaker B: This one here?
[00:43:17] Speaker E: How do I. Yeah.
[00:43:18] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:43:20] Speaker E: Can I use.
[00:43:22] Speaker B: It's 6:47 in the morning. There's shadows basically everywhere because the sun is just starting to rise.
[00:43:28] Speaker E: I'm going to use two actions to move up there. And that's just. It's like an on. Is it an awning or a porch?
[00:43:35] Speaker B: Oh, that's like a. That's like a.
[00:43:37] Speaker E: Like a little stick.
[00:43:38] Speaker B: A stick and cloth.
[00:43:40] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:43:41] Speaker B: You know, like in Aladdin where there's like the.
[00:43:43] Speaker A: Theoretically, you could teleport on top of one of the buildings.
[00:43:46] Speaker E: That's kind of what I wanted to do to get a high ground.
[00:43:49] Speaker B: So if you went onto this side of that, like that gable, you would be in the shadow because the sun is still rising.
[00:43:57] Speaker E: That is what I would like to do.
[00:43:58] Speaker B: Okay, so Zafir, you teleport up onto a building that's the opposite side of the square. So Alward is entering from the market square on the ground from the south. And Zafir teleports on top of a roof on the north side of the square.
[00:44:12] Speaker E: I do a little flourish with a backwards somersault, and then I appear on the roof.
And my last action would be to pull out my bow.
[00:44:23] Speaker A: You do have a free move action if you want to use it.
[00:44:26] Speaker E: Did you give me that?
[00:44:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I gave everyone that.
[00:44:29] Speaker E: If it's just a move action, I'd like to get two to the top of that roof so that I can have a good vantage point.
[00:44:36] Speaker B: You're now above the tents.
[00:44:38] Speaker E: Now, I should be able to see it.
[00:44:40] Speaker D: These past tense.
[00:44:46] Speaker C: Is that funny, Tinky?
[00:44:47] Speaker E: It's not worth it. It's not worth it.
[00:44:49] Speaker A: That was very funny.
[00:44:50] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:44:52] Speaker E: Wait a second. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
[00:44:55] Speaker D: Oh, Jesus.
[00:44:58] Speaker E: I just got a feat that allows me to draw an attack with the same motion.
[00:45:02] Speaker B: Oh, sick.
[00:45:04] Speaker E: So I can also shoot at a gargoyle.
[00:45:07] Speaker C: Shoot him.
[00:45:10] Speaker D: Kill the civilians.
[00:45:12] Speaker B: Got a point.
[00:45:12] Speaker C: No, not the civilian guys. We're not trying to kill the civilians.
[00:45:15] Speaker E: Now, I'm not gonna be able to do a spell strike, but I will just go ahead and shoot at the gargoyle the straight across from me.
[00:45:23] Speaker C: Gregoyle.
[00:45:24] Speaker B: All right.
[00:45:24] Speaker E: In the market square, underneath the.
[00:45:27] Speaker A: Is there a gargoyle in the north?
[00:45:29] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:45:30] Speaker C: Gosh, I wish Einar was here.
[00:45:32] Speaker E: Does a.34 hit?
[00:45:35] Speaker B: That's a critical hit.
[00:45:37] Speaker D: Hey.
[00:45:38] Speaker E: Really?
[00:45:38] Speaker A: We fought these things when we were, like, level.
[00:45:40] Speaker E: I know, but I assumed they would have made them more powerful.
You'd think, oh, 24.
[00:45:51] Speaker B: 24.
[00:45:52] Speaker E: Significantly better than I thought I did. Mwaha.
[00:45:58] Speaker B: Well, that does change things. That's significantly different.
So your arrow just slices down, pierces right through the knee and the foot, and just, like, stabs into a crack in the cobbles and pins into the ground, and there's just this huge crack that just, like, splits halfway up his body.
You might say he's bloodied.
[00:46:18] Speaker E: And that ends, my turn.
[00:46:20] Speaker D: He's cracked.
[00:46:21] Speaker B: This dude is cracked.
All right. It is now. Oh, I did this to the wrong guy. I'm sorry, guy.
[00:46:29] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:46:30] Speaker B: I hurt the wrong gargoyle.
[00:46:33] Speaker E: You may be able to take it back, but the emotional pain will always be there.
[00:46:37] Speaker D: Sometimes you hurt the wrong person, and it's bad.
[00:46:41] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:46:41] Speaker E: What a great wisdom.
[00:46:44] Speaker B: All right. It is now the gargoyle that I inadvertently hurt. It's his turn.
[00:46:49] Speaker D: Where's he at?
[00:46:50] Speaker B: He's behind the.
[00:46:51] Speaker D: Well, there's a. Well, well, well, well.
[00:47:04] Speaker B: Just.
[00:47:04] Speaker E: We can't see what's happening.
[00:47:06] Speaker B: You can't see any of them? No.
[00:47:09] Speaker D: Just take your turn. We don't know what's happening.
[00:47:12] Speaker B: Don't mind me.
[00:47:14] Speaker E: So the turn advances, and we don't know what happened.
[00:47:16] Speaker D: We cannot feel any guilt for what happens to people on the other side because we cannot see them.
[00:47:21] Speaker B: Okay, well, that's not a crit.
[00:47:24] Speaker C: I don't believe you.
[00:47:26] Speaker D: Jordy's just playing with himself right now, so.
[00:47:30] Speaker B: Oh, he's still alive.
[00:47:31] Speaker A: Good for him.
[00:47:32] Speaker D: Playing with dolls over there.
[00:47:34] Speaker A: Jordy, we talked about this. But the doll's away.
[00:47:37] Speaker B: Okay, can you see this one?
[00:47:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:47:40] Speaker D: See the tip of his head?
[00:47:41] Speaker B: So you can see what is happening, maybe as this gargoyle, like, claws at the guy right in front of him.
[00:47:47] Speaker E: Okay, well, I can't do anything about that, so I don't feel bad.
[00:47:51] Speaker B: And that is a hit.
He deals damage. The guy is hurt, but he's not down.
[00:47:56] Speaker E: No.
[00:47:57] Speaker B: Then the gargoyle grabs him using an.
[00:47:59] Speaker D: Action like flying monkeys.
[00:48:02] Speaker B: Oh, well, maybe. Hold on.
[00:48:05] Speaker A: This.
[00:48:06] Speaker E: This town person is. Is skilled in martial arts.
[00:48:09] Speaker B: Yeah. He grabs him, and then he begins to fly into the air, carrying the guy.
[00:48:14] Speaker C: Yeah, it's flying monkeys.
[00:48:15] Speaker E: All right. Well, I. My turn. Does not come back for a while.
[00:48:18] Speaker C: So how did they make more?
[00:48:21] Speaker D: So why did you send your family away from here?
[00:48:24] Speaker A: You know, I. The schooling. Honestly, for Lena, it just.
You couldn't make friends.
[00:48:31] Speaker D: I mean, we only saw a couple. It's not like we'd learned that those are the only two they've ever had.
[00:48:36] Speaker E: Well, we had a store.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: We stole so many.
[00:48:39] Speaker D: Oh, right, because they require the spirit or. Yeah, but then we sold them to a guy who maybe just gave them back.
[00:48:43] Speaker A: I hope. He seemed very.
[00:48:45] Speaker D: And Jordi's smile makes me feel like that's probably the case.
That means Val was actually complicit in this because she didn't know it was happening.
[00:48:54] Speaker A: We did get paid.
[00:48:55] Speaker B: Speaking of. Val, it's your turn.
[00:48:56] Speaker D: We got paid for this.
I'm gonna go right here.
[00:49:02] Speaker A: Hi, Val.
[00:49:03] Speaker D: Hi. I'm a step in front of Albert.
[00:49:05] Speaker A: Thank you.
[00:49:06] Speaker D: And then I knew it would pay off.
This. Some of that magical energy she's used before starts, like, coming out, like, coalescing around her chest, and then kind of glows and flows into her weapon.
So now her glaive is now giving off those spheres. Popping off of it as it seems to kind of be glowing a little bit now as I use my new ability, shift eminence into my weapon.
And then for my last action, I'm gonna just make a strike against it with my glaive.
That's a 28 to hit.
[00:49:49] Speaker B: 28.
[00:49:50] Speaker D: Oh, and it's flanked.
[00:49:51] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a crit. Yay.
[00:49:54] Speaker D: I do like critical hits.
So that is 48 slashing and cold damage, and also one persistent spirit damage.
[00:50:06] Speaker A: Oh, nice.
[00:50:09] Speaker B: So, yeah, Val, you just run over. Just bring your glaive down. And then there's just a sound of crashing. Just smashing stone. And there's just a pile of rubble.
[00:50:21] Speaker D: I move it five feet to the left.
[00:50:23] Speaker C: Good job.
[00:50:24] Speaker B: Sweep it into the road.
[00:50:26] Speaker C: Move the rubble right into the road.
[00:50:30] Speaker D: I'm gonna use a free action to call to sigourn because I don't know where she's at.
[00:50:36] Speaker B: Fair enough.
Neros, no.
[00:50:40] Speaker C: All right, Bios.
[00:50:43] Speaker D: She'S faros right now.
[00:50:44] Speaker C: Okay, I'm going to use that free action to move up.
[00:50:49] Speaker B: What's your movement speed?
[00:50:50] Speaker C: 25.
Oh, yeah. I'm so far away.
And then another action to move 25ft.
[00:51:00] Speaker B: So you can see one gargoyle that is 85ft away entering the market for the north.
[00:51:05] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh.
I'm going to get up next to Valerie.
[00:51:11] Speaker A: What?
[00:51:12] Speaker D: Bruh.
[00:51:13] Speaker C: Bruh.
[00:51:13] Speaker B: And you can now see another one that is on the south side of the market. That's 45ft.
[00:51:18] Speaker C: My gosh, I don't like that.
[00:51:21] Speaker D: I would be worried if you did.
[00:51:23] Speaker B: Oh, I forgot. You can also see the guy who is over here.
[00:51:26] Speaker D: What?
[00:51:27] Speaker C: What guy?
[00:51:27] Speaker B: That guy that's 20ft in the air.
[00:51:29] Speaker C: Oh, he's 20ft.
[00:51:30] Speaker B: And.
[00:51:30] Speaker C: Well, how far. How far away is he from me? And then up.
[00:51:34] Speaker B: Hold on.
[00:51:35] Speaker D: He's still about 20ft.
[00:51:36] Speaker B: Okay, so he's 20ft up. And he's 55ft away.
And he's 60ft away.
[00:51:41] Speaker C: I can't reach him.
[00:51:43] Speaker D: Neither can I.
[00:51:44] Speaker E: How many feet up an eye am I?
[00:51:46] Speaker B: Let's say 15ft up.
[00:51:48] Speaker D: If I get a little closer, I could give it a crisis of faith.
[00:51:52] Speaker E: Does it have a faith, though?
[00:51:54] Speaker D: Doesn't have to.
[00:51:55] Speaker E: Twas that. Twas what? A crisis.
[00:51:57] Speaker B: Crisis.
[00:51:58] Speaker E: If there does not have anyone.
[00:51:59] Speaker C: So I used one of the free actions and then two to move.
[00:52:04] Speaker D: Isn't it fun when the game starts, you really far away and you can't see most of the enemies?
[00:52:10] Speaker E: There's a freaking wall in the way.
[00:52:12] Speaker D: A tent.
[00:52:14] Speaker E: A tent.
[00:52:15] Speaker C: And then I'm going to move up again like 15ft.
[00:52:20] Speaker B: So you've got one to your north, that's 60ft away, and one to the south, that's. That's 45ft away.
[00:52:25] Speaker C: Move to the south.
[00:52:27] Speaker B: Okay, so you've moved up to where you're now 25ft away from the.
[00:52:30] Speaker C: Fine with me. I used all my movement to move, actions to move.
[00:52:35] Speaker E: I just imagined you crossing your little black arms and then just huffing. Sitting in on the ground cross legged.
Yeah, like a. Like a little toddler.
[00:52:45] Speaker C: She's mumbling to herself again.
[00:52:47] Speaker E: But I wanted to.
[00:52:48] Speaker A: Look.
[00:52:50] Speaker C: I have to talk back. They're so loud right now.
[00:52:53] Speaker A: I mean you.
I can't argue.
[00:52:57] Speaker B: So Neros, you come running into the market. You're trying to get into position. You see a gargoyle to the south. So you turn and start running towards him. And then you all hear just this huge thunderclap as a bolt of lightning comes out of the sky, strikes the gargoyle who was carrying the guy off, and the thing just like collapses and falls to the ground.
[00:53:18] Speaker E: Is the guy okay?
[00:53:19] Speaker C: Yeah. Does the guy just fall to the ground?
[00:53:21] Speaker B: He lands on his feet like a ninja.
[00:53:23] Speaker E: He only takes, like, Tony and martial art training.
[00:53:27] Speaker D: And then he's like, what the heck? How did I do that?
[00:53:30] Speaker B: And as you all look up to see that lightning bolt, you see a familiar figure on top of a building on the opposite side of the square.
[00:53:38] Speaker C: Uver.
[00:53:40] Speaker B: And we'll see you all next time.
[00:53:41] Speaker A: But Sven's not here.
[00:53:43] Speaker E: I want to wave at him.
[00:53:44] Speaker C: It's Uvair.
[00:53:46] Speaker E: A wave at him.
[00:53:47] Speaker C: Where did he come from?
[00:53:49] Speaker A: Where did he come from?
[00:53:50] Speaker C: Cottonite bear.
[00:53:55] Speaker B: All right. And the hero point for today's episode goes to petite with how Zafir handled the social interaction with the strange fleshwarps in the vault.
[00:54:06] Speaker E: Wow. Thank you. I want to put forward that my social skills are just about the same as his.
So. Yeah, I'm gonna go try to figure out what shade of lipstick Zafir would look best in.
[00:54:20] Speaker C: I still think black.
[00:54:22] Speaker E: That's so boring.
[00:54:23] Speaker A: I was thinking a deep purple orange.
[00:54:26] Speaker B: Let us know.
[00:54:27] Speaker D: Neon green.
[00:54:29] Speaker B: Get on the discord. Tell us Hot pink, not just Saphir. Every single PC, what shade of lipstick.
[00:54:36] Speaker D: They should eye on.
[00:54:36] Speaker C: Even Einar.
[00:54:37] Speaker D: I know exactly what Val would wear.
[00:54:39] Speaker A: Wait, every. Oh, PC Pilgrim 2.
[00:54:41] Speaker E: We need to know.
[00:54:42] Speaker B: I mean, if you have a particular NPC you like, you can give them makeup advice as well.
[00:54:47] Speaker C: Barkeep, Barkeep.
[00:54:48] Speaker A: Somebody give me. Make advice for Pilgrim or Haymir.
[00:54:51] Speaker C: Oh, gosh, we don't talk about Haymare.
[00:54:53] Speaker D: We don't talk about Hamer.
[00:54:56] Speaker A: You're gonna get us yelled at.
[00:54:57] Speaker E: Sign us off, Jordy.
[00:54:58] Speaker B: All right, well, we'll see you next time. Don't come after us, Disney.
[00:55:02] Speaker E: Bye.
