Before we get into today's episode, we are dropping a new canon side adventure. It's about three episodes long. We really hope you enjoy it. It's starring Stephen Harrell and Nolan of course, both wonderful friends of the show, myself and then Geordi as our game master. It's going to be dropping here on November 20th, so pretty soon this coming Wednesday. It's taking place in the same sort of world and setting and time frame as the written in. So if you're interested in that, please go check it out. You can find it on our Patreon. Yeah, so double announcement. We do have a Patreon. If you're interested in listening to that side adventure, go ahead and check that out. More information, of course will be there and you can find information on how to get to the Patreon in the description below. Again, that is going to drop on November 20th. We hope you enjoy and we hope you have an atomic time. [00:01:28] Speaker C: Now, where did we leave off? Ah, yes. At Val's request, the party sought an audience with Brenger in the Wolf Skin warriors camp. As he refused to listen to their requests, Val invoked her gods and his, challenging him to a one on one duel to the death. [00:01:59] Speaker D: Okay, story time. Okay, so my children who are dogs are very, very entertaining. [00:02:09] Speaker B: If you want to see pictures of them every now and again, join our discord. [00:02:12] Speaker D: Yeah, anyway, so yesterday I was getting ready for work as you do, and I was sitting on my computer. Riker. No, not Riker. Amelia was in my roommate's room chewing on a nylabone. Sam, you're distracted. Chewing on a nylabone, having a great time and she's a little resource guardy. And Riker knows this, so he doesn't try to steal her toys anymore if she's chewing on them. He wanted it. He came down the hall and looked at her and he turned around, went into the living room and barked. Okay, none of the other dogs started barking that live in the house. Amelia stopped chewing on the toy, ran into the living room, and here comes Riker trotting down the hall, goes and steals the toy and goes into my room and starts chewing on it. And then Mia comes back down the hall after probably looking out the window like, hey, there's nothing out here. And she goes and looks in my roommate's room and it's like, wait, I know I left something here. And then she comes into my room and sees Riker chewing on the toy. She looks at me like, what the heck? And I'm like, oh, no, she wanted. Or he wanted it. [00:03:26] Speaker A: You got outsmarted. Deal with it. [00:03:29] Speaker B: That's basically like when. Wait, which one's the elder, Rykard or Mia? [00:03:33] Speaker D: Mia's older. [00:03:34] Speaker B: All right. That's like the younger brother going out and being like, hey, you should come see this for a sec. And then runs away. [00:03:41] Speaker E: That is why Riker is number one. [00:03:44] Speaker D: He is. He is number one. [00:03:46] Speaker B: Number one. That lived up to the hype. [00:03:49] Speaker F: It was great. [00:03:50] Speaker D: Did it. [00:03:50] Speaker B: I loved it. [00:03:51] Speaker E: I had a mental picture, unlike some of us. [00:03:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:55] Speaker F: Wow. [00:03:57] Speaker D: That was kind of mean. Wow. [00:03:59] Speaker B: Hey, we're doing a duel this episode. This is the episodes for shots being fired. [00:04:04] Speaker F: Me versus Jordy. It's Sven versus Petite in the background. Sven and Petite are just going to be fighting. Listen closely. You'll probably hear them. [00:04:12] Speaker E: Yeah, but it'll have to be a mental battle. A mental duel. [00:04:15] Speaker A: Oh, I hate you. [00:04:18] Speaker F: Hey, it's okay. Psychic duel. [00:04:20] Speaker E: That's what it's called. [00:04:21] Speaker F: Just take the blind fighter feet. Thank you. Thank you. I'll be on my way to go die now. I'll be here until I die. [00:04:36] Speaker D: Wow. [00:04:39] Speaker C: We start with a long shot view from high above the valley. The sun is just beginning to dip down behind the tree line, and we've moved forward from the gray of night and it's beginning to get dark. We see down in the valley from our vantage point a row of torches being carried out of the camp out around the palisade. And a few of these torches sort of fan out and plant them firmly into the rough sod of the earth, creating a small lit area for this duel to take place. While all of this is happening, Val, you had some last minute prep to do. [00:05:24] Speaker F: Yes. Val is over kind of close to the others and she is strapping on the rest of her plate mail, putting it back on for the first time in about couple of days of travel where she had felt that warmth from the sun blessing her glaive. It feels like that's moved away and instead her feet feel that warmth and her wings are like a lot more active. That is to signify a mechanical change. Val, while wearing the heavy armor, would normally be at 25 movement speed. She's now at 30 wearing the heavy armor. Because of the new updated rules for the champion, I now have A blessing of swiftness. And I no longer have my Sun Blade ability. She looks to bring her, and she says, the only terms I have here between the two of us for my defeat if I die, give my companions the opportunity to leave. [00:06:33] Speaker C: Brenger, who still has his back to you at this point, like, he's adjusting straps on his armor and everything, and he just kind of turns his head a little bit to say over his shoulder, once your lifeless body hits the ground, your friends will be free to leave, provided they no further meddle with the Aridson's plans. [00:06:55] Speaker F: My thanks. And she looks to the others, the group, no matter how things go, do not interfere or put yourselves in a position to break that term. [00:07:15] Speaker A: We all nod, like, sure, buddy, or Missy. [00:07:20] Speaker F: The honor of my gods. And she's kind of shaking, and she's shaking out the jitters and nerves, and she's like, all right, all right, it's okay to not be okay. Let's do this. And she turns around and pulls out her glaive and her shield pops out of her prosthetic. [00:07:42] Speaker C: Brenger, still with his back too, like, sighs and looks up to the moon. Have you made peace with your gods? [00:07:51] Speaker F: I am ever their servant, and their will will be done. [00:07:56] Speaker C: And in one fluid motion, he draws both swords and whirls around. Then let us clash, and we are going to begin a duel. So anybody who's been watching through the rest of the show, they'll be familiar with how duels work. Every round we're both going to re roll initiative, and we can change what skill we're rolling, and that will give us a different reaction that we could use mid combat to push things to our advantage. The three skills that we can choose between are perception, deception, and intimidation. It's sort of like rock, paper, scissors in that each one you roll gives you an advantage against one, but puts you at a vulnerability to another. [00:08:41] Speaker E: So is it just going to be Val and Bringer in the initiative? Because a card that I want to play is bound by when it's my turn, I have to play it on my turn. [00:08:55] Speaker C: Ah. So the way we're I'm doing the duel is it's just the two of them in initiative until somebody breaks it, and then it's actual normal combat. So I'm going to go ahead and roll initiative for a skill. [00:09:10] Speaker F: What one should I use? See, now here's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking he's gonna use intimidation, the counter, that would be deception. But my deception is only a plus three. So My. I would definitely be going second. Well, he'd get a penalty to his second attack. [00:09:24] Speaker B: I know in psychic duels, each one gives, like, an extra bonus. What are the bonuses for each? [00:09:30] Speaker C: No bonuses in regular duels. It just puts you in that stance, which gives you a reaction. Yeah, a reaction, but it also makes you vulnerable to its counter. [00:09:39] Speaker F: I think I'm going to use. Yeah, okay. Okay. I rolled deception for a total of four. There's a one on the deck. Fair initiative. The second time that dies. Rolled a one in the last two episodes. [00:09:54] Speaker D: Great. [00:09:55] Speaker C: So Brenger will be going first. With his two swords now drawn, he charges across the distance, separating the two of you, and then slashes out at you with both of the swords. [00:10:06] Speaker F: I'll use my sidestep reaction. He has to roll twice, and he takes still lower. If he used intimidation, his second strike is made out. An additional minus two penalty. [00:10:18] Speaker C: He rolled intimidation. So his first swing with his flaming longsword. [00:10:25] Speaker F: You said he rolls twice and takes the lower. [00:10:29] Speaker C: Twice and takes the lower. Nice. So that means he doesn't get a nat 20. [00:10:33] Speaker B: Okay. [00:10:34] Speaker C: Instead he rolls a 29. That does hit me. All right, so that is 27 slashing damage. [00:10:45] Speaker F: And because I have armor specialization, I have resistance to slashing plot one, plus the armor potency rune, which is a plus one at this level. So I have two resistance. So what was the damage? [00:10:56] Speaker C: You'd say 27 slashing. So instead I take 25 and then two cold damage. Or Sorry, I said he was singing his flaming longsword first, didn't I? Did So. Two fire damage. [00:11:07] Speaker F: Two fire damage. Cool. Awesome. Awesome. [00:11:12] Speaker C: All right, so then he's going to swing with his left hand with cold longsword, and he gets a 30. [00:11:19] Speaker F: That's a hit. [00:11:19] Speaker C: All right. And for damage that, it's 18 slashing. [00:11:24] Speaker F: Damage, which is reduced to 16 and. [00:11:27] Speaker C: Then 5 cold damage. [00:11:30] Speaker F: So if you remember, I have nephilim resistance. [00:11:34] Speaker E: Cold. [00:11:35] Speaker F: I have resistance five to cold. How much was it exactly? [00:11:38] Speaker C: Five. [00:11:39] Speaker F: So I take no cold damage. [00:11:41] Speaker A: Nice. [00:11:41] Speaker F: So that cold kind of comes off the sword and absorbs into her veins. [00:11:47] Speaker C: All right. And that was his turn. He strode up and then slashed with both swords. [00:11:52] Speaker F: I gotta play things a little safe here. I am gonna use my first action. I'm gonna raise shield, which gives me a 2ac bonus. Then I am going to cast lay on hands. [00:12:05] Speaker C: And does that have the manipulate trait? [00:12:07] Speaker F: It is somatic, which I believe is a manipulate. [00:12:09] Speaker C: Yeah. So as you're casting Leon hands, he is going to swing his flaming sword Again. [00:12:15] Speaker F: Cool. [00:12:18] Speaker C: All right, speaking of cards, who has the critical fumbles? [00:12:23] Speaker D: I do. [00:12:24] Speaker F: Oh, my gosh, Abby, look at you go. [00:12:28] Speaker B: Everyone is just on the sidelines, just on the edge of their seat. [00:12:32] Speaker F: Jenkins, I'm going to take another sour gummy. [00:12:33] Speaker B: Yeah, Phil, go ahead. You deserve it. Oh, what's it say? [00:12:38] Speaker F: Too much stuff. [00:12:40] Speaker D: You get tangled in your gear and are encumbered until you spend two interact actions to free yourself. [00:12:46] Speaker B: What is. Yeah, what does that do? [00:12:48] Speaker A: Does that even make sense? [00:12:50] Speaker C: I think we can make this work. He's clumsy one and takes a 10 foot penalty to all his speeds. [00:12:57] Speaker B: Okay, that's not bad. And he's that. Until he takes an action to fix it. [00:13:00] Speaker C: Spends two actions to fix it. So I think what that looks like is he, like, goes to swing his flaming sword again as Val is moving to use lay on hands, but this time he's, like, trying to avoid her shield, and it just, like, catches on the scabbard because he's wearing the two scabbards. He didn't drop them, and he's just, like, you know, kind of tangled up in that. So he misses that strike and he's all tangled. [00:13:27] Speaker F: Now that means I heal 24 hit points. I get a plus 2 status bonus to AC, which means my AC is 32 right now. [00:13:34] Speaker A: Heck yeah. [00:13:35] Speaker F: And then I'm gonna swing out with my glaive, I believe and hope it works out. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. 31. [00:13:45] Speaker C: That is a hit. Awesome. [00:13:51] Speaker F: 14 points of slashing damage. [00:13:54] Speaker C: All right, and he takes it. [00:13:55] Speaker F: And that is Val's turn. So she's raised her shield, did some healing, and then slashed out. [00:14:03] Speaker C: All right, and that is the end of the first round. So now we can both roll initiative again and choose different skills if we feel that appropriate. [00:14:13] Speaker F: I got 10. [00:14:15] Speaker C: All right, so it's Brenger's turn now, and he's already up in your face, so he's gonna come down at you with his flaming sword again. Okay, a 33 to hit. [00:14:30] Speaker B: Oh, come on, dude. [00:14:33] Speaker F: That's one above, man. [00:14:36] Speaker C: That's a hit. And that is 26 slashing damage. [00:14:43] Speaker F: 26. [00:14:44] Speaker B: It's like this turn was specifically designed, designed to take away everything he just. [00:14:48] Speaker F: Did, which is reduced to 24 damage. [00:14:53] Speaker C: And then four fire damage. [00:14:55] Speaker F: Okay. [00:14:57] Speaker C: And then with his second action, he's gonna swing his off hand and use that cold, long sword again. Oh, and that is definitely a miss. You got a 19. [00:15:07] Speaker F: Oh, wonderful. I swear, I bet he has a plus 18 to hit. And you roll to or 17 to hit. [00:15:14] Speaker B: That sounds about right. [00:15:17] Speaker C: With his last action, he's actually just gonna back up a little bit. [00:15:23] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:15:24] Speaker C: And that's the end of his turn. [00:15:27] Speaker E: How are you looking? [00:15:29] Speaker F: Looking fine. [00:15:30] Speaker B: I suppose we would know how you're looking, Sam. [00:15:34] Speaker F: So Val is going to raise her shield again and take a step up to where she's now within 10ft instead of 5ft to this bad guy. And she's going to slash out and use her. Her intimidation reaction that she used this time. What did he use for his react? His initiative? [00:15:55] Speaker C: He used perception. [00:15:56] Speaker F: Ah, cool. That's what I thought. So if I hit him, he becomes frightened. 1. But since he used perception, he'll instead become frightened. 2. [00:16:04] Speaker C: Nice. [00:16:05] Speaker F: Yeah. So she's gonna swing. I'm gonna use a hero point because I rolled a one. Okay. Same thing as last time. So 31 against his off guard AC. [00:16:19] Speaker C: Yeah, that is still just a hit. [00:16:21] Speaker F: So he's frightened too, which will help me a lot. Next turn. 17 points of slashing damage. Slowly but surely, guys. [00:16:31] Speaker C: All right. And he takes that damage. [00:16:33] Speaker F: Oh, boy, I'm gonna die. I'm barely scratching him every time I hit him. [00:16:41] Speaker C: At the end of round two here, Sam, how is Val looking to the onlookers? [00:16:47] Speaker F: Uh, she is staying very aggressive, but she's pretty cut up. She's bleeding, she's stumbling of it, but she's determined. She's lost about half her hit points currently. [00:17:01] Speaker C: All right, so here at the round three, we'll go ahead and roll initiative for our skills. [00:17:09] Speaker F: A natural one. So I rolled a 13 totem. I'm using perception this time. [00:17:15] Speaker C: All right, so Brenger will go first on his turn. He is just kind of reeling back from how you, like, stepped up into position and just, like, aggressively slashed at him with your glaive. And he kind of looks, like, impressed. And then he sheaths both of his swords. And I'm going to call that as part of the two actions to adjust his stuff. [00:17:42] Speaker F: He's actually doing that. [00:17:43] Speaker C: And then with his final action, he's going to reach up to his hood and pull it down. [00:17:47] Speaker F: Oh, no. [00:17:48] Speaker C: Over his face. [00:17:49] Speaker F: Oh, no. [00:17:51] Speaker C: And as he's doing so, it's getting harder to tell where the distinction between his hood and his face and him all begins and ends as he's entering a rage. [00:18:07] Speaker F: Cool. [00:18:08] Speaker C: And Val, it is your turn. [00:18:10] Speaker F: Oh, great. [00:18:11] Speaker B: Can I. Can I try something? [00:18:14] Speaker C: Sure. [00:18:18] Speaker B: Can. Can I try to cast without getting caught? Implement of destruction. [00:18:23] Speaker C: So that was the spell you'd mentioned to me in the break where you're calling out. And the casting of the spell is you saying something, right? [00:18:31] Speaker B: Yeah. So it's basically me yelling at Bringer, Bringer, Bringer. That Val's weapon will kill him and he will need to make a will save. And if he fails or succeeds, Val's weapon will deal additional damage every time it hits. [00:18:50] Speaker C: Because of the way that that spell is worded, I will let you cast that spell and then attempt a deception check to pass that off as just being encouraging. [00:18:58] Speaker B: Okay, and again, before I do this, just so we have it on record, everyone is. Except for Val is okay with this. Yes. [00:19:06] Speaker F: Yes, yes. [00:19:07] Speaker B: Okay. [00:19:08] Speaker F: Not okay. [00:19:09] Speaker D: Too bad no one asked you, Sam. [00:19:12] Speaker B: You're about to die. So Albert's basically Alward says something akin to the fact that he will die by Val's glaive. [00:19:19] Speaker C: Oh, come on. [00:19:20] Speaker A: Does it have to be in a language he understands? [00:19:24] Speaker B: I don't think so. [00:19:25] Speaker A: Yeah. I was like, why does he have to understand it? [00:19:28] Speaker C: Honestly, I feel like speaking in a language everybody understands. Would a your deception, though? Like, I think it would be harder to pass it off as something innocuous if they're like, what's that Magic man yelling? [00:19:37] Speaker F: Yeah, that's fair. [00:19:39] Speaker B: That's fair. So basically, Alward's going to just shout out, like, you got this, Val. He will fall by your blade. Come on. And, like, try to be as encouraging as possible. He needs to make a will save. [00:19:51] Speaker F: Ooh, I need to make a deception Rome. [00:19:54] Speaker B: I do. [00:19:55] Speaker C: So what he gets, you got a 20. [00:19:58] Speaker B: That is a failure. [00:20:00] Speaker F: Ooh, I like it. [00:20:01] Speaker B: So regardless of my deception roll, here's what happens for Val. The target's weapon deals an additional 2d6 persistent mental damage to the target enemy. If the enemy is critically hit by the weapon, the enemy is doomed. 1 For as long as it takes. This persistent mental damage. This effect lasts for one minute. [00:20:23] Speaker F: So 2D6 mental persistence. That's pretty cool. [00:20:26] Speaker A: Just make sure you crit. [00:20:28] Speaker F: I mean, I don't think doomed is gonna do anything for me in this fight. He's spending a hero. [00:20:39] Speaker B: Is everybody ready for a fight? [00:20:41] Speaker F: No, don't. [00:20:44] Speaker B: I can't fix it. [00:20:45] Speaker F: Why'd you do that? [00:20:46] Speaker B: I got a 13. This is why I asked beforehand. So I failed all around. I would have had to get, like, a 13 on the dice to even be comparable. [00:20:58] Speaker A: That's okay. [00:20:59] Speaker B: I regret nothing. [00:21:00] Speaker A: Einar would have stepped in at some point anyway. [00:21:04] Speaker C: As you are anticipating, Albert, as you are shouting out this encouragement and casting the spell, you get the sense that you might not have been as subtle as you were hoping. And all of Brenger's men watching the fight on the other side just kind of, like, start looking skeptical and their hands start drifting towards their weapons. I would like you all to roll initiative. [00:21:27] Speaker F: Could I try and say something first? [00:21:29] Speaker C: Sure. [00:21:30] Speaker F: So when I see that happen, I can feel that he casts the magic. I can see everyone reacting like a fight's going to happen. Can Val yell out very loudly so everyone hears? Be, like, awkward. No. Dispel this now. This fight must be fair. [00:21:47] Speaker B: I can't dispel it. It's a duration, really. [00:21:50] Speaker D: They don't have to. [00:21:51] Speaker C: They don't know that you're free. Yeah, you're free to shout that out. [00:21:54] Speaker E: What's your deception, Val? [00:21:55] Speaker C: Make a diplomacy check. Get a plus two bonus because you have been pretty clear about not wanting help. [00:22:04] Speaker F: 29. [00:22:06] Speaker C: And as Val is shouting that out before Albert even has a chance to do anything, all of the, like, barbarians and everyone, their hands kind of, like, relax a little bit. They're watching more closely now, but they aren't drawing their weapons yet. [00:22:20] Speaker B: Is it possible for me to dismiss it or. [00:22:22] Speaker C: No, Unless it says so in the spell. No, it does not. However, nobody knows what your spell does. They know that you were attempting to interfere. Fear and Val said stop, and they don't see anything happening. [00:22:34] Speaker F: And if the raging monster is taking mental damage, you probably won't even think about that. Hopefully. [00:22:41] Speaker A: You don't know what he did either. [00:22:43] Speaker F: I know he did something. [00:22:44] Speaker A: Yeah. And I'll figure it out. You don't know what he did. [00:22:48] Speaker F: He hasn't cast this before, so I'll give you that. [00:22:52] Speaker C: All right. So with that successful, Val talking them down, we will stay in the duel initiative. And it is Val's turn. [00:23:01] Speaker F: Val, she's going to cast lay on hands heal 24 hit points and get the plus two bonus to AC and then she is going to use divine retribution. [00:23:16] Speaker B: What's that? [00:23:18] Speaker F: It's from her rune. The runes on her glaive. It allows her to do an attack with an additional damage die. And he's. I doubt he's unholy, so it wouldn't. Oh, and I rolled initiative with perception, meaning he is off guard to this attack. [00:23:35] Speaker C: Nice. [00:23:36] Speaker F: If he used deception, it's off guard till the start of my next turn. [00:23:41] Speaker C: He used intimidation. So just off guard to this attack. [00:23:46] Speaker F: All right, so he's gonna the minus two and he's frightened one. So he's a minus three. In total. It's a 33. [00:23:56] Speaker C: That's a critical hit. [00:23:59] Speaker F: Oh, yes. All right. That's great. Yeah. Because he probably has a penalty for being a rage as well. [00:24:04] Speaker B: So I got excited. [00:24:04] Speaker F: It's deadly D8. So I'll roll an additional D. And your thing. [00:24:08] Speaker C: Procs. [00:24:09] Speaker B: It's just doomed. One. Two. D6. Mental damage, persistence. [00:24:14] Speaker F: My deadly was a one. [00:24:16] Speaker B: Oh, that's so deadly. [00:24:18] Speaker F: I know. That's 26 slashing damage plus one. Oh, wait. I use Divine Retribution. That's an additional damage. Die. [00:24:28] Speaker C: Ah, yes. [00:24:31] Speaker F: So 39 is the total damage done because it was Divine Retribution. [00:24:36] Speaker C: He's not looking as hot as he was a minute ago. [00:24:39] Speaker F: Yeah. That is the end of Val's turn. She's still got the. Those little balls, little crackles all around her, protecting her as, like, a shield. [00:24:50] Speaker C: All right, and that takes us to the top of the dual round again. So we each choose what we're going to roll. [00:24:58] Speaker F: I cannot roll very good. But that's better than I rolled before. For initiative. That's a 19. [00:25:05] Speaker C: Val, you go first. [00:25:06] Speaker F: I use perception again. [00:25:08] Speaker C: All right. [00:25:10] Speaker F: Val's going to raise her shield, and then she can't use Divine Retribution because he did not hurt me. So I'll use sense weakness as I attack. So he's off guard to this attack and still frightened one. Or did that. [00:25:22] Speaker C: Hasn't had a turn yet. [00:25:23] Speaker F: Okay. I don't think a 21's gonna hit him. I could use my last hero point. I wouldn't get to do the cool thing. [00:25:34] Speaker A: You might keep the cool thing. [00:25:36] Speaker F: I mean, I don't want to have to. I don't want to be able to use the cool thing. It requires him to crit me to use it. [00:25:42] Speaker A: I don't think that's hard for him to crit you. [00:25:44] Speaker C: I'm shocked that he hasn't. [00:25:47] Speaker F: Okay, that's a 21 to hit. [00:25:49] Speaker C: That does not hit. [00:25:50] Speaker F: And then I'll do a second attack. [00:25:53] Speaker B: That's good. [00:25:55] Speaker F: 28. That is a hit. [00:25:57] Speaker C: Wait, hold on. [00:25:58] Speaker F: 27. [00:25:59] Speaker C: That is also hit. [00:26:00] Speaker F: Okay, I forgot. [00:26:01] Speaker A: 33 is a crit. [00:26:03] Speaker F: I forgot. Forceful is extra damage. I thought it was an additional to. [00:26:07] Speaker C: Hit, and he wasn't. He isn't off guard against the second attack, though, so. [00:26:14] Speaker F: So 23 slashing damage. I rolled a seven and an eight on the dice. [00:26:20] Speaker C: All right? And he takes that damage, and that. [00:26:22] Speaker F: Is the end of Val's turn. [00:26:25] Speaker C: All right. And Brenger, who's been kind of just like, letting that rage course through him, and it's been slowing him down while you've gotten those slashes off with your Glaive. He just, like, drops his arms and just lets out like a beastial roar and then just lunges at you. And rather than punching at you or grabbing at you, he almost seems to be using the hood of the wolf as if it were his own maw. And he's just biting at you with a wolves jaw. [00:26:56] Speaker F: I cannot believe the amount of hit points this guy has. [00:26:59] Speaker B: Barbarians, man. [00:27:02] Speaker A: He's a healthy boy. [00:27:03] Speaker C: That's a 30 to hit. [00:27:05] Speaker F: Okay, that's a hit. That's Matt. That's me. That beats it. [00:27:10] Speaker A: He didn't have ray shield. [00:27:11] Speaker F: I did have shield. I didn't usually on hands this turn. [00:27:14] Speaker C: Oh, that's 23 piercing damage. [00:27:19] Speaker F: 23. [00:27:20] Speaker C: With his final action, he's going to. With his jaws just, like, clenched around your arm, he's gonna try to pull you off balance and trip you. [00:27:29] Speaker F: Oh, is that against fortitude? [00:27:31] Speaker C: Yes, against your fortitude. [00:27:32] Speaker F: D.C. okay, that's 23. [00:27:35] Speaker C: He got a 31. [00:27:38] Speaker F: Okay, then I fall prone. [00:27:42] Speaker C: Val, make me a perception check. [00:27:47] Speaker F: 14. 15. [00:27:49] Speaker C: Okay, so I think you're being, like, stunned, and you're really focused on the battle and you don't notice what you may have noticed. That is the end of this round. Brenger's turn is ending. He is no longer frightened. [00:28:04] Speaker B: Seven points of mental damage. [00:28:05] Speaker C: Seven points of mental damage. And he doesn't seem to notice that. [00:28:11] Speaker F: Okay, I got a 20 on initiative. [00:28:14] Speaker C: Nat 20 or a 20 total? [00:28:16] Speaker F: 20 total. [00:28:17] Speaker C: Okay, so Brenger will go first. [00:28:20] Speaker F: Okay. [00:28:21] Speaker C: And with Val flat on the ground, he's just going to begin. Just like the wolf maw, just, like, chomping down on her. [00:28:29] Speaker F: Do I get my reaction back? It's a new round. [00:28:31] Speaker C: Yes. Okay, with the first chomp, that's a 23. [00:28:37] Speaker F: That's a miss. [00:28:38] Speaker C: And the second chomp. Jenkins, you had the Nat 20s. [00:28:45] Speaker B: If I tell you no, can you change the dice? It's the perfect strike. Triple damage. Hey. [00:28:58] Speaker C: So Brenger chomps down at Val, and she, like, rolls out of the way from the first bite. But then he lashes back faster than she was anticipating, and he just bites straight down on her neck with that nat 20 getting triple damage. That's a total of 75 piercing damage. [00:29:16] Speaker F: That was almost my entire max HP in one hit. At this level, there's nothing I can do. I'm dead ratio. I can't. I'm dead. [00:29:26] Speaker C: So Val drops to dying one. [00:29:29] Speaker E: Brenger hears a whisper in his ear. If you really think you're the heir to the throne, you'd take us all on by yourself. [00:29:38] Speaker B: Also, eight points of mental damage if his turn's over. [00:29:41] Speaker C: He's got one action left. [00:29:43] Speaker B: Yep. [00:29:43] Speaker E: Take that. By his whisper. [00:29:46] Speaker C: I think with his final action, Brenger is just going to take Val's glaive, hold it up over his head, and then just, like, stab it into the dirt next to her. His turn is now over. Any of you may jump into action if you choose, but Val is currently dying too, having been downed from a critical hit. [00:30:06] Speaker B: Eight mental damage. [00:30:07] Speaker C: Eight mental damage. [00:30:09] Speaker B: That's gonna happen every six seconds for 60 seconds or however long it has left. [00:30:16] Speaker E: So how many of us are ready to go into action? [00:30:18] Speaker D: I'm jumping in now. [00:30:19] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, we have to. [00:30:20] Speaker D: Are you kidding me? [00:30:21] Speaker C: Okay, so, Neros, you are jumping into action. [00:30:23] Speaker D: Yes. [00:30:24] Speaker C: Is anybody else jumping into action, or. [00:30:26] Speaker E: Are they holding Immediately jumping. [00:30:27] Speaker B: I would like to get in the turn order. [00:30:29] Speaker C: Okay, everyone, roll initiative. [00:30:34] Speaker B: I just barely beat what I needed to beat. [00:30:37] Speaker C: All right, Howard, 32. Zafir, 17. [00:30:43] Speaker D: Neros, 26. [00:30:45] Speaker C: Einar, 33. All right, Einar, you are the fastest to react to Val being dropped. [00:30:54] Speaker A: How far away am I? [00:30:56] Speaker C: You're currently about 30ft away from the two of them. Yeah, you could reach Val in a single action or Bringer in two actions. [00:31:05] Speaker A: This is perfect. Oward, Einar, Donkey, you most of all. [00:31:14] Speaker B: I don't like where this is going already. [00:31:16] Speaker A: Time travel are gonna notice this as something seems to warp around Einar. [00:31:22] Speaker B: No. [00:31:24] Speaker C: Oh, wait. [00:31:24] Speaker B: Is this what I think it is? [00:31:25] Speaker A: As he suddenly dashes forward. [00:31:27] Speaker F: Is he a Time warrior or whatever those are called? [00:31:30] Speaker B: I think I know what you're doing. [00:31:32] Speaker A: As you would recognize, it has been time. [00:31:35] Speaker B: I don't know what you're doing. That's sick. Are you a chronomage? [00:31:39] Speaker F: I don't think he could be a chronom. [00:31:41] Speaker E: Speculation. Afterwards, let's see what happens. [00:31:43] Speaker B: It's an archetype. [00:31:44] Speaker A: Basically. I can do this once per day. Once my turn begins, I'm quickened this turn. You're a Chrono Mage, and I can use my extra action to stride. [00:31:53] Speaker B: That's amazing. [00:31:55] Speaker C: So what all of you see is as Val is falling to the ground, and Brenger takes the Glaive and is stabbing it into the turf next to her. You simultaneously feel like Einar started running after the Glaive hit the turf, but at the same time, you feel like he started running before Eval even went down. [00:32:14] Speaker B: It's a familiar feeling for me. [00:32:16] Speaker A: I will use manipulate action to draw my sword because I didn't have it. [00:32:19] Speaker F: Drawn Clutch anime moment. [00:32:21] Speaker A: An attack. And this is not non lethal, this is full. [00:32:26] Speaker C: And are you wanting to just move up to Brenger or are you gonna try and flank him with your companions? [00:32:31] Speaker A: This is more to interrupt anything he can do to Val. [00:32:33] Speaker C: So you're trying to step between the two of them? [00:32:35] Speaker A: Yes. [00:32:35] Speaker C: Okay. All right, so Einar, with that burst of speed, runs up between Val and Einar just as the blade of the Glaive is hitting the turf. His sword is already in hand, and you come in for the swing. All right, give me that strike check. I'm gonna call Bringer off guard to this. [00:32:53] Speaker A: Hey, Jenkins. [00:32:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:32:56] Speaker D: Did you. [00:32:56] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:32:57] Speaker D: Did you. [00:32:57] Speaker B: Did you get an at 20? [00:32:58] Speaker A: Yeah, but. [00:32:59] Speaker B: Oh, heck yeah. Type of damage? [00:33:01] Speaker A: Slashing. [00:33:03] Speaker B: Push the target back five feet, which is still sick as you do. Stand aside. [00:33:08] Speaker A: That actually really fits. Really just happen. [00:33:12] Speaker C: That's thematic. [00:33:13] Speaker B: What's the critical specialization? [00:33:14] Speaker F: Off guard. [00:33:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Makes them off guard. [00:33:17] Speaker C: Yes. Just that until the beginning of your next turn. He's off guard. [00:33:21] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:33:21] Speaker B: 10 out of 10. [00:33:24] Speaker A: 30 points of damage. [00:33:27] Speaker C: All right, so you dash across the battlefield, slash him with your sword, and he goes staggering back five feet. There's a huge gash across the front of his armor. And now you can see that he had this wolf skin, like, worn as a hood underneath his armor. It's all fur now, and he's a little bit taller than he was previously, but he is now bloodied. [00:33:53] Speaker A: Eina, Val can't hear this, so Einar is just gonna whisper. I don't have time for this. [00:34:01] Speaker C: And Alward, it is your turn. [00:34:03] Speaker B: Alward. Sort of recognizing what just happened. How does the archer in the tower look like they know what's up. [00:34:11] Speaker C: Yes, they've been watching. [00:34:13] Speaker B: All right, I'm going to amp. What's my spell called? Vector screen. And I'm going to put it diagonally to Val. [00:34:22] Speaker C: What does that mean? [00:34:24] Speaker B: So what Vector Screen does. It sets up a transparent rippling screen of telekinetic energy that seizes all small, fast moving projectiles such as arrows. So if the archer tries to shoot at Val or anything that goes through that line, that five foot cube line, it immediately gets stopped. Anything larger, such as, like javelins or anything like that, take a minus two circumstance penalty. If they travel through that square. And since I've amped it, if there are any projectiles trapped in it, I can cast telekinetic projectile to fire them at one creature as part of dismissing the spell. [00:35:01] Speaker C: Nice. [00:35:01] Speaker B: So it's a spell that I constantly keep preparing and then nothing happens for It. And I'm like, it's probably not gonna work this time, but it's a good defensive thing. And then I'm going to move, we'll say 15ish feet by that torch up closer to the combat. And that will be my turn. [00:35:23] Speaker C: All right, so Alward, you conjure that protective ward to catch projectiles and move a little bit closer. You're about 15ft away from Einar. 20ft from Val. [00:35:32] Speaker B: Now actually put me closer to Einar. [00:35:34] Speaker C: Okay, so like 10ft from both Val and Einar. [00:35:36] Speaker A: Yes. [00:35:37] Speaker C: Okay. All right, that's Alward's turn. The first of Brenger's men is now kind of getting up to reacting. He's going to spend two actions moving up in between Einar and Brenger, who's still kind of reeling from that attack. Wow. Sad turn for him. He spends two actions getting into position and a third action pulling out his axe. Neros, it's your turn. [00:36:06] Speaker D: How far away am I from Val? [00:36:09] Speaker C: 40Ft. [00:36:11] Speaker D: That would take two actions. And that I won't have the action. Economy. [00:36:18] Speaker B: You won't be able to give her a potion, but you could try to stabilize her. Maybe with a first with a medicine check. [00:36:23] Speaker D: You don't want me rolling medicine? [00:36:25] Speaker B: It was a thought. [00:36:27] Speaker D: I would do more harm than good by rolling medicine. Okay, in that case, I'm going to spend. I'm going to use one action to get 25ft closer to her, all right? And then my last two actions to cast a spell in a ten foot burst, right now, next to Brenger. [00:36:49] Speaker C: All right. [00:36:51] Speaker D: I would like a fortitude save. [00:36:54] Speaker C: Would you like to also hit the barbarian who just ran up in front of Einar? [00:36:57] Speaker D: Why the heck not? [00:36:58] Speaker C: All right, so Brenger gets a 31. [00:37:03] Speaker D: That succeeds, you still take half damage. [00:37:08] Speaker C: His Minion gets a 35. [00:37:11] Speaker D: Jeez. So his minion. Nothing happens. [00:37:17] Speaker B: It's a good minion. [00:37:19] Speaker A: Minion number one. Good job. Hroth. Strong. [00:37:22] Speaker F: Yeah. His name is Hroth. [00:37:24] Speaker C: Hroth. [00:37:25] Speaker F: Torval and Ragnar are about to go. [00:37:27] Speaker C: All of these pawns have names. [00:37:29] Speaker B: It's like you specifically did that, Jordi. [00:37:32] Speaker D: I hate my dice. [00:37:33] Speaker B: I hate my dice. [00:37:34] Speaker D: Good Lord. Branger takes nine. Sonic damage. [00:37:40] Speaker B: What spell did you cast? [00:37:41] Speaker D: Noise blast. A potential of 2d10. [00:37:45] Speaker B: It's great. [00:37:45] Speaker D: Sonic damage. Rolled nine. [00:37:48] Speaker F: Oh, wait. He takes half damage. [00:37:49] Speaker D: He takes half. So four. [00:37:53] Speaker A: I thought you have to already. [00:37:55] Speaker D: No, I forgot to. [00:37:57] Speaker C: All right. [00:37:58] Speaker D: Nothing makes me angrier than trying to save one of my allies. That's down. [00:38:03] Speaker F: Hi, it's me again. [00:38:04] Speaker B: Saving my Down. [00:38:05] Speaker D: I know that sounded bad. [00:38:07] Speaker B: It did. [00:38:08] Speaker F: Abby doesn't like. [00:38:09] Speaker D: I want to save him, and I'm angry that Val is down right now. [00:38:13] Speaker B: I understand what you mean. [00:38:14] Speaker D: I'm so mad. [00:38:16] Speaker A: I knew this. [00:38:17] Speaker D: And the fact that I can't get there to give her a potion makes me even angrier. [00:38:22] Speaker C: As Neros turn ends the second of the barbarians, his reaction time catches up with him, and he dashes directly past Einar. [00:38:31] Speaker B: Aol. [00:38:32] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:38:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I could do that. I can do that. [00:38:37] Speaker B: I just love the look on his face. Like, yeah, okay. [00:38:39] Speaker F: He missed out on his last chance to do it when that guy drew his weapon right in front of. [00:38:44] Speaker C: Oh, wizards, man. [00:38:46] Speaker A: I'm used to playing a wizard. [00:38:47] Speaker B: Okay. [00:38:50] Speaker A: Does a 33 hit? [00:38:53] Speaker C: That's a critical hit. [00:38:54] Speaker B: Nice. [00:38:56] Speaker C: That's. [00:38:56] Speaker B: I feel like I'm gonna be saying that a lot with Einar in the party. [00:39:00] Speaker A: Maybe 32. [00:39:05] Speaker C: So he moves up right next to Einar, and Einar just lashes out with his bastard sword. And now that guy is a little bit more trepidatious about getting into the position he was in. So he's going to, with the last of his movement, just kind of step back a bit and pull out his axe in a safe location. [00:39:24] Speaker F: So now he's, like, what, 10ft away from Einar? Yeah. [00:39:27] Speaker C: So he's 10ft away from Einar and about 20ft away from Albert and Eros. No, 15ft away from Albert and Eros. [00:39:33] Speaker F: Noisa. [00:39:35] Speaker C: And then another of the soldiers is moving into position. [00:39:39] Speaker F: It's Ragnar. [00:39:40] Speaker C: He decides to pull his axe before he runs it. And then he spends the rest of his turn just flanking Einar to go. [00:39:47] Speaker F: And just swipe at Val twice. [00:39:49] Speaker A: Inai used my reaction already. [00:39:52] Speaker B: I didn't. [00:39:53] Speaker C: Zafir, it's your turn. [00:39:55] Speaker E: So I can't get to Vel with the speed that I have, but I would like to go 25ft. That's my speed. Closer, directly in line to her. Like, towards her. [00:40:09] Speaker C: So it looks like the most direct route to Val also flanks Ragnar with Einar. So now you and Einar are flanking that last guy who just moved in. [00:40:18] Speaker E: Okay, so question. How many cards can I play in one turn? [00:40:22] Speaker C: As long as the qualifications work, I don't see why there's any limitation. [00:40:26] Speaker E: Okay, so this card says I can roll to the opposite side of an enemy. Would that qualify to go diagonal through him? Yeah, but I need to be within reach of Val. [00:40:39] Speaker C: Well, I mean, you could occupy Val's space because she's down, and she would. [00:40:44] Speaker E: Definitely be within Reach there. Yes, I would like to do that. [00:40:48] Speaker C: Okay. So Zafir darts into motion, and then just like with a quick reversal of positions, somehow he just slides between the barbarian's legs and ends up right next to Val. [00:41:00] Speaker E: I should say the card that I used is tumble past play after you end your movement adjacent to a creature that's larger than you, which everybody is. And then I just move to the opposite side of that creature, and it doesn't trigger any reactions based on movement. Hopefully, this doesn't qualify as an action because I'm gonna spend another card to use. Healing prayer. So I'm gonna tumble through the legs, and once I get there, I'm gonna stay on my knees, and I'm just gonna look up to the sky and say, I don't know which God that Val would prefer, but I pray that she is slightly healed, at least a little bit. [00:41:36] Speaker B: I love that. I love that so much. [00:41:40] Speaker A: Oh, I love that. [00:41:42] Speaker E: That's gonna be two D8 plus 16 hit points. [00:41:44] Speaker B: Nice. [00:41:45] Speaker C: The caveat will be, as soon as this finishes resolving, one of you has to leave that square, because you can't both occupy the square. [00:41:52] Speaker F: I mean, you'll have to move. [00:41:55] Speaker B: Why does he. [00:41:56] Speaker E: Do I have to use. [00:41:56] Speaker F: I'm laying for that. [00:41:58] Speaker C: Yes, you'll have to use a move action. [00:42:00] Speaker E: That does put a damper on things. That's okay. As long as I bring Val back. [00:42:06] Speaker F: Would make me a target again. [00:42:08] Speaker E: That is 26. And I will use the shove action to potentially shove her back one. Exactly. There you go. And I will point directly up at Bringer. And he hears as a message in a weird way, whispering in his ear from right in front of his face. A true leader would give someone mercy a chance, but you are no leader. [00:42:40] Speaker C: And as this is a message, he can make a response, but you just hear, like, noises of a rabid animal. [00:42:48] Speaker E: Can you make those noises? [00:42:53] Speaker B: It's actually very good. [00:42:54] Speaker E: That made me very happy. [00:42:58] Speaker C: Look out, Matt Mercer. [00:43:01] Speaker D: There's a new GM in town. [00:43:04] Speaker C: All right. And that is the end of Zafir's turn. [00:43:06] Speaker E: That is the end of his turn. [00:43:08] Speaker C: All right, another Viking joins the fray. [00:43:10] Speaker F: Yarhar Frey. [00:43:13] Speaker C: It's her. Smash Bros. [00:43:15] Speaker D: Wait, I'm Freya. [00:43:16] Speaker F: A new challenger approaches. [00:43:18] Speaker B: No, she's Freya. [00:43:19] Speaker C: She draws her axe and runs in. Now Einar has enemies on three sides and Zafir right next to him. [00:43:26] Speaker A: At least I'm not flanked on that side. [00:43:29] Speaker C: That is the end of Freya's turn. Brenger's turn will begin. But as his turn begins. You just hear like the sound of leather snapping as Brenger just explodes into a mass of fur and muscle. No longer appears to be a collected warrior and instead is a massive white wolf. [00:43:56] Speaker E: Oh, that's very big. [00:43:58] Speaker B: Oh, like the rumors and. Okay. [00:44:00] Speaker F: Uh huh. [00:44:01] Speaker B: I don't like that. That's very pretty. [00:44:02] Speaker A: Art. [00:44:03] Speaker F: He's a werewolf of London. [00:44:04] Speaker E: I mean that makes sense. [00:44:05] Speaker A: They're the wolves. [00:44:06] Speaker F: They're the wolf people. [00:44:06] Speaker C: And that's were in December.
