You had successfully charmed one of them, and all three of them went down without too much of a fight. And now you have the unconscious bodies of these three warriors. [00:08:00] Speaker F: Can I just cut in here? There was nothing plodding about that. That was all off the cuff. We all just. [00:08:07] Speaker E: It was fabulous. [00:08:08] Speaker F: I mean, I think Abby was the closest one to having a plan. [00:08:11] Speaker D: Neros had an idea, and we ran with. Let's go. [00:08:14] Speaker F: There was no plotting. [00:08:16] Speaker A: Literally ran. Val ran with it. [00:08:19] Speaker D: What are we gonna do with these guys? [00:08:21] Speaker F: Oh, we dragged them away, didn't we? [00:08:51] Speaker A: Odds are they're gonna be safer than we are. [00:08:54] Speaker D: Right. Which brings us to the next thing. We haven't really discussed how we're doing. And then he gestures our gestures to the camp off in the distance that. [00:09:04] Speaker A: I honestly don't have any ideas near us. [00:09:09] Speaker E: Look, I can. I had an idea for those guys. I don't have an idea for the entire camp, but I do have to say, well done, everybody. I didn't do much. You guys applaud to you. [00:09:21] Speaker D: You made it all possible. [00:09:22] Speaker F: When you throw us into a position of actually having to do something, it seems that we're somewhat capable. [00:09:27] Speaker B: Did you. [00:09:30] Speaker D: Did you happen to get their name? [00:09:32] Speaker E: No, I was schmoozing. [00:09:35] Speaker D: Right. Maybe we could say that the scouts told us to come here if we're interested in helping out and then that'll get us an in. [00:09:42] Speaker C: I mean, we could just go talk to them like we've done in the past. [00:09:47] Speaker F: Okay, I second that. [00:09:49] Speaker A: Has that always worked out for you? [00:09:51] Speaker D: Shockingly, yes. [00:09:52] Speaker C: Yeah, it's been pretty good. Now occasionally get someone like Saita who will, you know, we talk for a bit and then he says, we're done talking and we're gonna fight. And then we fight him. [00:10:04] Speaker F: Then I release my bugs on him. [00:10:07] Speaker C: He does do that sometimes. [00:10:10] Speaker F: Oh, I forgot. You've never seen my bugs so bright. [00:10:14] Speaker A: I think I know what you're talking about. [00:10:17] Speaker C: Yeah. Say, I'm sure if the big boss is there, we could talk. Get an audience with him and speak to him about things. [00:10:25] Speaker A: Well, don't forget that this big boss seems to think that might is right. [00:10:31] Speaker C: Well, there's a good chance we'll have to fight him. [00:10:34] Speaker D: But in a camp surrounded by 30 plus people who want us dead. [00:10:40] Speaker A: On the bright side, it might be easy to, you know, do like a one on one. [00:10:44] Speaker C: Right. Yeah. That's not too hard. Kind of like we did with Ylva. You know, the trolls didn't butt in and we got to just fight her for a bit and then she surrendered. So maybe we can just fight. I could. I could fight him and then he could surrender, and then everyone could surrender, and then we could just talk. [00:11:03] Speaker F: In all fairness, we also had Cornelius for collateral in that situation. [00:11:08] Speaker C: Well, that's true. I don't. I hope we wouldn't need collateral here, but. [00:11:15] Speaker A: And what if he requires you to kill him? [00:11:19] Speaker C: There are times. I know. And when that is necessary, if it's a moment like that talking, he's a fight. And he gives up his right to surrender but still wants to do harm, then I would have to kill him. [00:11:37] Speaker A: And are you going to be all right with that? I'll have to be, because I can't help you on this one. [00:11:47] Speaker D: You could do the fighting. You're. [00:11:49] Speaker A: I promised Ilvo I wouldn't kill him. [00:11:51] Speaker D: Oh, right. [00:11:55] Speaker F: You could just knock him unconscious like we did those other guys. [00:11:58] Speaker A: I could. [00:11:59] Speaker C: Best case scenario, if we have to fight, is I can just knock him out. The others will let us take him, and we can take him back to civilization and get him arrested, and he can go to jail. [00:12:12] Speaker A: I hope your assumptions that, one, his men will allow you to take him and. And two, a corrupt system will keep him in jail. It's true. [00:12:24] Speaker D: He. He didn't do anything to go that's worth going to jail. That we know. [00:12:29] Speaker C: Well, he's leading the bands that are raiding this town. [00:12:32] Speaker A: What jail would he go to? [00:12:34] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:12:35] Speaker F: Maybe that town. [00:12:37] Speaker C: Well, I'm willing to take a leap of faith here and trust that the gods will make things clear for us. [00:12:46] Speaker A: I don't have any ideas. This is yours. [00:12:50] Speaker F: Well, I'm not usually the idea guy, but I think we should go in, try to talk to them. And if things go south, we fight our way out. [00:12:58] Speaker D: That's if they let us in. [00:12:59] Speaker C: I. I mean, it's tree. [00:13:03] Speaker F: Fight our way in and then talk. [00:13:07] Speaker C: Sometimes. Sometimes that works out, but I think we can just go and see how things go. [00:13:16] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, I don't have another. [00:13:26] Speaker B: As you are drawing closer to the camp, you see that it seems to have three entrances. There's haphazardly constructed, like wooden palisades. And there's an entrance on the south side of the camp and then an entrance on the northeast and the northwest side of the camp. The south side has, like, a watchtower built next to the entrance, but you don't see any other towers. Which side would you like to approach from? [00:13:55] Speaker F: From which side did we come from? [00:13:57] Speaker B: You're coming from the east. Of the camp. So the most straightforward entrance would be the northeast. [00:14:02] Speaker C: Okay, I think we'll just go to the one closest to us, then the northeast. [00:14:07] Speaker B: All right. As you draw closer, the camp is sort of built on a more level portion of the side of the valley, which now is sloping downward off into, like, the. Really the low part of the valley off to your left and upward as it's leaving the valley on your right. The lighting is just beginning to shift from, like, the golden hours of the evening into the grays of dusk as you're approaching the front gate. However, since all of you have dark vision, that's not going to impact you too much, except for Einar. Einar's, like, starting to struggle to see dim light. [00:14:50] Speaker A: Come on. [00:14:51] Speaker B: It is still dim light, but you are able to see that there appear to be two guards, one standing on either side of the wide. It's like 30ft wide gap in the palisade that serves as an entrance. [00:15:08] Speaker C: I guess I'll wave down the guards while we're heading to them. [00:15:12] Speaker B: And let's see you get about 50ft out from the gate before they actually even notice you. And the one on the left looks up, and he's wearing, like, a leather suit of armor with just, like, patches dyed crimson. And it very much looks like a hand me down soldier's uniform. And he just, like, steps up and start, like, half draws a short sword off his belt, and he's just like, what are you doing here? And for any of you who do not speak taldain, he is speaking Taldain. [00:15:48] Speaker D: I'm 80% sure I speak Taldain. [00:15:51] Speaker B: Yes, because this is the language they speak in Chelihex. [00:15:54] Speaker D: Ah. [00:15:57] Speaker F: I do not speak that. [00:15:59] Speaker C: Nope, I do speak Tald. [00:16:02] Speaker B: Okay, so we've got Alward. Val. Did Einar speak Taldain? [00:16:07] Speaker A: Yeah. You think it'd help if we say that we're here for more work? [00:17:28] Speaker D: Maybe. I don't. [00:17:29] Speaker C: What was her name again? I keep forgetting. [00:17:32] Speaker E: Ylva. [00:18:58] Speaker B: So they are mercenaries from Cheliax that they really just take whatever job will give them money, to the point where even Cheliax is just like, you guys don't really care about the ideals of Cheliax, so they just are wandering further and further afield, looking for whoever will give them money with that success. You also know that their general level is between level four to level five. [00:19:24] Speaker D: So this camp isn't necessarily being bankrolled by what I would presume to be that they're just being to them. It's just. We're getting money for doing this. [00:19:35] Speaker B: Yes. [00:19:36] Speaker D: Okay. I'm going to be like, offer them some coin to, like, get us in. Bribe them. [00:19:46] Speaker C: O, boy. [00:19:49] Speaker D: I don't. However, the guy kind of, like, shrugs and is like, let's see the coin. [00:21:31] Speaker C: How much coin outward. [00:21:33] Speaker D: Just start off small with, like, 10 or, like, 2 gold. [00:21:37] Speaker C: Okay. She just stares at her bag for a minute like this. She just pulls out three. [00:21:43] Speaker D: Yeah, that's fine. [00:21:44] Speaker C: Okay. And she holds. She just holds forward the gold in her hand. [00:21:52] Speaker B: Come on, a little closer. One at a time. [00:21:54] Speaker C: Oh, okay. And she gets off her horse and starts going closer with the money. [00:21:58] Speaker B: I'll follow as you get close. He's like, wait, wait. One at a time. One at a time. And when Val gets within range, he holds out his hand. [00:22:07] Speaker C: There you go. [00:22:08] Speaker B: Takes the coin, checks it. Yeah, I think that should serve as an entry fee. [00:22:17] Speaker C: Oh, that's great. I didn't realize it was that kind of a place. [00:22:21] Speaker B: And it was the two of you that wanted to speak with Brenger, Right? [00:22:23] Speaker D: All of Us, if possible. [00:22:27] Speaker B: He's looking at your group. [00:22:29] Speaker E: I wink. [00:22:30] Speaker A: Einar. Einar just walks up, walks up to him, and I'm guessing he's quite a bit taller. [00:22:38] Speaker B: This guy's like 5 foot 4. He's a short dude. [00:22:40] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. It just towers over him. Reaches into his pocket hole and takes out one gold, drops it in this guy's hand. All of us, if you please. [00:22:53] Speaker C: Oh, it's like a per person fee. [00:22:55] Speaker B: I have to say, you are very. [00:22:56] Speaker F: Persuasive, seeing that Zafir is just gonna walk up and kind of nod up to him, he's still shorter, and pull out two gold and hand him two gold Neros. [00:23:10] Speaker D: Don't give them any more money. If they know we have money, that's all they're going to be doing for us all day, is demanding more money. [00:23:17] Speaker E: Okay. [00:23:17] Speaker D: I don't know why these people kept giving them more money. [00:23:20] Speaker F: Well, I mean, I would assume because I was counting how much we gave him. That's six total, right? [00:23:27] Speaker D: So much gold. [00:23:27] Speaker E: Are we all getting off our horses for this? [00:23:30] Speaker A: Einar did get off his horse to give him the gold, and then he walked. He walked his horse with him, too, I should say. [00:23:36] Speaker F: Wait, there's only one. There's only five of us. So I only gave him one gold. [00:23:40] Speaker B: Okay. [00:23:42] Speaker A: Einar just did that so he'd convince him to stop looking. [00:23:45] Speaker F: I know. [00:23:46] Speaker A: You don't have to give him gold. [00:23:47] Speaker F: Zafir doesn't really know what's going on. He just sees people giving him gold. [00:23:51] Speaker C: Where's Brenger at? Or are you gonna walk us there? How does this work? [00:23:55] Speaker B: He should be easy to find. He's usually in the large tent in the center of camp, working over his war tape. [00:24:02] Speaker C: Okay. Is there somewhere we can leave our horses? [00:24:05] Speaker B: Oh, sure. On the south side of camp, we've got a bit of a stable set up. [00:24:10] Speaker C: Oh, okay. Thank you. [00:24:12] Speaker B: I would suggest walking your horses around. Of course. Just tell them Draven sent you if they haven't run into any problems. [00:24:19] Speaker C: Oh, just around the camp. [00:24:20] Speaker B: Yeah, just around the camp. That way. You're not leading horses right through the center of camp. I'm sure you understand where we try to keep things civilized here. [00:24:30] Speaker C: Should I go talk to you guys? Bring the horses around. [00:24:33] Speaker D: I feel like we should all bring the horses around. [00:24:35] Speaker E: We'll go together, Val. [00:24:36] Speaker C: Okay. All right. [00:24:37] Speaker D: Don't know why you're so eager to separate. [00:24:39] Speaker C: I'm not. I'm just. We just entered through here, so, you know, I was. What if there's an Entry fee per gate. [00:24:46] Speaker A: You know, I just walk. [00:24:47] Speaker F: We. [00:24:48] Speaker A: I just. Just walking away while Val's talking about this. [00:24:59] Speaker E: No, they swindled us. [00:25:01] Speaker C: Oh. [00:25:01] Speaker D: They were going to let us in after the four gold. And then for some reason, Zephia gave him more. [00:25:13] Speaker F: I was just giving him gold. [00:25:15] Speaker D: I forget you don't speak Haldin. [00:25:20] Speaker E: Most of us don't. [00:25:21] Speaker D: Please, Please. It's a comet of the area. [00:25:24] Speaker C: Oh, we're just gonna park our horses. It's more common. [00:25:27] Speaker A: Well, not this area. [00:25:28] Speaker F: You know, I never really had this problem. Usually I just kill people. I didn't really care what they spoke. [00:25:34] Speaker C: So when we get to the south gate, are there just guards in the same way as last time? [00:25:38] Speaker B: Yeah. So as you approach the south gate, the first thing you notice is there is a burly guy with a long hafted axe standing next to the gate. Behind him, you can see what appear to be makeshift stables. [00:25:50] Speaker C: Oh, okay. [00:25:51] Speaker B: And he's like, leaning up against a post. When he sees you coming around the corner, he just stands up. And then in Scald is like, who goes. [00:25:58] Speaker E: Oh, I can understand this guy. [00:26:00] Speaker C: We were sent over by Draven so we can park our horses here. [00:26:04] Speaker B: Draven sent you? [00:26:05] Speaker C: Yeah, he. Yeah, we just spoke with him. [00:26:07] Speaker B: You more of his friends from Cheliax? [00:26:10] Speaker A: No, I did know he was from Chilly X, but he's the other gate God. That's about all I know about him. [00:26:17] Speaker C: We're just here to speak to Bringer, and he said we could park our horses here. [00:26:21] Speaker F: He didn't want us to move through the camp. [00:26:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:26:24] Speaker F: With our horses, cleanliness is. [00:26:28] Speaker B: Makes enough sense to me. Come on in. [00:26:30] Speaker C: Thank you. That's very nice of you. [00:26:34] Speaker E: I wink at him. [00:26:37] Speaker F: I see what you're doing. You're getting on everybody's good side. Okay. [00:26:43] Speaker D: It's good to be on everybody's good side. [00:26:46] Speaker F: Are those stairs. [00:26:47] Speaker C: That's a watchtower. [00:26:48] Speaker B: There are. What's Everybody's perception? Bonus? [00:26:52] Speaker A: 12, 13. [00:26:55] Speaker D: Same. [00:26:56] Speaker F: 11, 12, everybody. So it's better than me. [00:27:01] Speaker B: Okay, so all of you notice that there is on the watchtower, there's a woman holding a bow with an arrow, like, half knocked, just watching you. [00:27:11] Speaker E: I wave. [00:27:11] Speaker F: I wink at her. [00:27:18] Speaker D: We have such a flirtatious party today, Zafir. [00:27:21] Speaker B: She just like, locks, steely eyes with you and just kind of like half draws the arrow a little bit and then relaxes the bow again. [00:27:29] Speaker F: I smile a little wider and then wink again with the other eye. Then I wink with both eyes. I blink. [00:27:42] Speaker B: As the rest of you are approaching the stable. There is a bearded buff guy there, and he's, like, feeding some oats to one of the horses as you approach. And he's just like, new recruits, eh? [00:27:56] Speaker D: Um, not necessarily. We were just told to put our horses here for now. [00:28:01] Speaker B: Well, I suppose we've got a little bit of space. Won't be able to stable them overnight too comfortably. But if you're just stopping by. [00:28:07] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, I don't think we'll stay here all that long. [00:28:10] Speaker B: Right. We've got some hitching posts here. Then you can just get them comfortable. [00:28:14] Speaker C: Thank you. Everyone's so nice here. [00:28:17] Speaker D: Now, whenever we get a little bit farther away from earshot, I'm like, okay, now don't mention Draven to the big boss. You'll get him in trouble if we leave here peacefully. [00:28:30] Speaker C: What? But. But if he did something he wasn't supposed to do, then. [00:28:33] Speaker A: Val, do what he says. [00:28:37] Speaker C: All right, fine. [00:28:39] Speaker A: We're not here to bring justice to anybody specifically. Sometimes you have to get your hands a little dirty when you're dealing with dirty people. [00:28:52] Speaker B: As you all are getting your horses hitched and set up in the stables, I'll give you a little bit of a description of what this camp looks like around you. You can tell that it's not exactly bankrolled. The tents are all kind of mismatched. More like everybody brought their own tent, then they were provided by the establishment on your right side. So on the eastern side of the camp, there's a ring of a bunch of tents and a larger camp tent. Similarly, a smaller ring on the west side. And then all the way on the north side, there actually are a set of matching scarlet cloth tents. There's a tent on the west side that seems to have some storage and a tent on the east side that is closed. You're not able to see what's inside of it. And in the center is one very large tent that if any of you had spent any time in military, you would recognize as, like, a captain's tent. Underneath, there's, like. How do I describe this? There's one, like, rectangular side, and then like a canopy roof that stretches out over the front of it. And inside you see a trio of figures bent over a large table. Presumably one of these is Bringer Last but not least, on the western side of the encampment, there are two figures who are on the ground kneeling, their hands tied behind them and tied to a post. [00:30:22] Speaker F: Do we recognize these people? [00:30:25] Speaker B: You do not. One of them looks like it's like a half shark and the other is like a half orc. [00:30:32] Speaker C: Cool. I love it. [00:30:35] Speaker D: The. This is just to jog my memory. Are the Chalaxians you mentioned last episode or session, are they the ones I presuming the Hellhounds, or are there civilian ones as well? [00:30:48] Speaker B: From what you've heard from the locals who were saying that there were Chelaxians in the area, and now that you've seen some members of the Hellhounds, you feel pretty comfortable assuming that the Chalaxians referred to are the Hellhounds. [00:30:59] Speaker D: Okay. [00:31:00] Speaker A: Did the town mention that it was both the wolves and the Chelaxians that were harassing them? Or was it only one or the other? [00:31:07] Speaker B: Yes, they were working together. Well, taking shifts more like they haven't seen them at the same time. [00:31:14] Speaker A: Gotcha. So it's been both. [00:31:17] Speaker C: So Val's gonna just move up to the tent, the big captain's tent. [00:31:23] Speaker B: And is anybody going with her? Is anybody hanging back? Yeah, yeah. [00:31:27] Speaker D: Following Val. [00:31:27] Speaker A: We're following. [00:31:29] Speaker B: All right, Val, as you reach the edge of that canopy, then the figure in the center of the tent, leaning over the table just like looks up. Just doesn't change his posture at all. Just turns his head and looks up and. What do you want? [00:31:49] Speaker C: We're here to discuss the things that you are doing here. We're here to discuss your army you're building and the raiding you're doing on the iridescents. [00:32:06] Speaker B: Gorham. Bless us. Who let you in? [00:32:10] Speaker F: Is this all in Skald? [00:32:11] Speaker B: Yes. [00:32:12] Speaker C: I was told not to tell you. [00:32:18] Speaker D: If everyone can. Just pinching the bridge of his nose like, oh my goodness. [00:32:25] Speaker A: Einar's kind of standing in the back just looking at all of you. And he has his both this bemused look on his face and also like looking at you. This is usually worked out. [00:32:40] Speaker B: So to give you all a bit of a picture of what this guy looks like. He is almost as tall as Einar. Oh, he's got very expensive looking scale armor. And on either side of his belt is fastened a sword in a scabbard. And on top of his armor, and coming over his head is like a cloak made out of a wolf skin with a preserved upper half of a wolf head serving as a hood. [00:33:10] Speaker A: Oh, that's stinkin sweet. [00:33:12] Speaker C: Oh, boy. I love it. [00:33:15] Speaker E: He looks like he could instantly kill me. [00:33:17] Speaker A: I want it. [00:33:19] Speaker B: And if we were still casting people. He's played by Richard Armitage. [00:33:23] Speaker C: Oh boy. [00:33:24] Speaker A: That is need to look that up. [00:33:25] Speaker C: He played Thorin in the Hobbit live action movies. [00:33:31] Speaker B: You were told not to say. Eirik, get these fools out of the camp. [00:33:37] Speaker A: Oh, bother. [00:33:39] Speaker C: No, hold on. We have some problems with the things you're doing and we want to discuss it with you instead of anything brash happening. [00:33:49] Speaker B: And what makes you think I'm interested in wasting my time talking to concerned locals? [00:33:55] Speaker F: Oh, we're not local. We're just concerned. [00:34:02] Speaker E: This is going so well. [00:34:05] Speaker C: We've been deemed worthy by the gods to deal with this situation. So we have come here. [00:34:12] Speaker D: Our just gonna like, start staring at you. Like what? [00:34:18] Speaker C: She's like, well, I'm here and I'm. Yeah, you know. [00:34:23] Speaker A: The bemused look continues to grow on Einar's face. [00:34:28] Speaker F: Zafir perks up and he says, I get where you're going. And you're being very. You're being very respectful. I just. We're gonna lay it all out there. We do need to talk. Like, this isn't. This isn't a huge, like, the gods are sending us on a journey thing, you know? [00:34:44] Speaker C: I mean, I feel like I've been sent on a journey. [00:34:46] Speaker F: I mean, we can. We can talk. [00:34:48] Speaker B: Rengar suddenly just slams his fist down on the table and then turns away from it to face all of you. Do any of you have a valid reason to be interrupting my very precious time? [00:35:01] Speaker C: Yeah. What you're doing is bad. You've already stopped some other Aridsons. And we're here to put a stop to what you're doing too. [00:35:10] Speaker B: Interesting. And you think that the best way to put a stop to what I'm doing is to confront me here, in the middle of my camp, surrounded by my finest warriors? [00:35:19] Speaker C: It seemed like the most honorable and respectful way to approach this situation to you. [00:35:24] Speaker E: The most suicidal. [00:35:29] Speaker B: Brenger, like, overhears Neros and just kind of nods in her direction briefly. [00:35:35] Speaker A: The idea. [00:35:36] Speaker C: You said you're a leader. You're a strong leader. So I imagine that means you have some level of understanding, of respect and honor. [00:35:44] Speaker B: He nods. [00:35:46] Speaker C: What would you prefer us do? Sneak in and start killing you while you're asleep? That's not very honorable. We're here to talk to you. To allow you opportunities. [00:35:56] Speaker B: A true leader knows when he is outmatched. A lesson I'm sure that you have not yet learned. [00:36:05] Speaker C: I have a good idea how strong we are. The three fellows outside of camp didn't hold very well. [00:36:13] Speaker B: In reference to your respect and honor, I will give you all the courtesy of allowing you to leave. And he turns back to the table. [00:36:25] Speaker F: But we have more to talk about. [00:36:27] Speaker C: I mean, this guy's really rude. [00:36:30] Speaker A: Brenga, you're right. They have a lot to learn. Not all of them. [00:36:36] Speaker D: No. I'm just sitting here like. Alred asks specifically Einar, what to do. Einar, I don't know, nor do I care. Einar, they have a lot to learn. [00:36:46] Speaker F: I don't know about you, but I learned through experience. [00:36:48] Speaker A: I have reasons. [00:36:49] Speaker D: I'm sure you do, but it's just very funny. [00:36:54] Speaker A: What I know and what I've learned is that the Aridson's plan cannot be allowed to continue. The raids on that town cannot be allowed to continue. And whether or not we're unmatched, as he walks up behind Val and stands next to her, has yet to be determined. So do we continue this discussion or not? [00:37:27] Speaker D: I just want to know if I can get a vibe check on him. Like a recall knowledge, know his level, know what's up while they're having this conversation. I don't know if that's against the rules or whatever, but I figured I'd ask. [00:37:38] Speaker B: Make a society check. [00:37:40] Speaker D: Yay, society. [00:37:42] Speaker C: Check out a specific unique person I want to make. [00:37:45] Speaker A: I want to make the argument that I could do so as well, due. [00:37:50] Speaker B: To roll that skill, you're thinking of Einar. [00:37:55] Speaker D: So I rolled. I got a NAT one. I used my ability to rewind time. I got a 19, making this a 39. [00:38:05] Speaker A: Gosh. [00:38:06] Speaker D: Oh, my gosh. [00:38:06] Speaker A: I'm just gonna not say what I got. Which was. Well, it's 14, but. [00:38:12] Speaker B: Okay, so a few things are gonna happen. First off, we're going to follow through that first timeline where you rolled a NAT one. Alward as this conversation is going on in this one branch of the timeline, you are watching Brenger and just kind of sizing him up, trying to figure out his deal, what's going on. But you are very distracted by what appears to be like, some sort of, like, a wolfish canine figure that's, like, stalking around the corner of the tent behind him. And at first you're thinking, like, maybe this is a camp dog or something. But then as it rounds the corner, you realize it's not like anything you have ever seen before. [00:38:55] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:38:56] Speaker B: There's, like, fronds coming off of it, kind of like porcupine quills, but they're like Moving in an unseen breeze. It's got six legs that end in uncountable numbers of claws and toes. And as it rounds behind Brenger, everyone else turns to see it and begins screaming as it lunges at Alward. [00:39:18] Speaker D: And. [00:39:18] Speaker B: And that's where that timeline breaks off. [00:39:25] Speaker F: Woof. [00:39:28] Speaker B: In the timeline where you rolled a 19 on the die, you're able to get a pretty good read on Brenger. [00:39:34] Speaker D: How many. How many deaths does Elord have to live through? [00:39:39] Speaker C: Seven. [00:39:41] Speaker D: Okay. [00:39:41] Speaker F: Does anybody else know that that happened? [00:39:45] Speaker D: Everybody, I think in the neural part. And Einar, because Einar hasn't experienced it enough to just passively. But Neros, if you want to make a Will Save. [00:39:55] Speaker E: Oh, okay. I'm okay. Please fail again because it would be hilarious. [00:40:02] Speaker D: I. I desperately want you to fail. [00:40:04] Speaker E: So funny. That would be a 19. [00:40:10] Speaker D: So fail. [00:40:10] Speaker B: Yes. [00:40:12] Speaker E: I've never been so happy to fail a Will Save. [00:40:16] Speaker D: Oh, that's good. [00:40:18] Speaker B: I have something I want to do, but I don't know if Alward wants to react to what he saw first. [00:40:23] Speaker D: I think Allard's reaction is just going to be like, start sweating and get like a little nervous and shaking a bit. But he's trying to hold composure because this is already a tense situation. [00:40:33] Speaker A: Where are you? [00:40:34] Speaker D: I'm behind you. Not like directly, but I'm technically right behind Val. [00:40:39] Speaker B: Also. [00:40:39] Speaker D: How does Val and Zafir react? [00:40:44] Speaker C: Val is trying very hard not to react right now. [00:40:46] Speaker D: That's fair. [00:40:48] Speaker F: Zafir's eyes just get really wide and he looks at Elward and then he. His eyes get not wide. [00:40:58] Speaker A: Any of them notice that? [00:41:01] Speaker B: None of them seem to notice it. Okay, so Alward, despite you being a little bit shaken, you are able to piece together some information on a critical success Recalling Knowledge against this guy. So you know that he is a level nine. You have actually, now that you're piecing things together from what you've seen of him, you realize that some rumors that you've heard around town from like traveling and enjol and stuff, you're realizing, oh, they were talking about Brenger. You hadn't put it together before, but you know now. So one thing you know is his dual wielding swords are both enchanted. His right hand sword has a flaming rune and his left hand sword has a cold rune. [00:41:43] Speaker D: That's so sick. That's terrifying for us, but that's so sick. [00:41:48] Speaker B: And you get two questions. [00:41:51] Speaker D: Um. [00:41:54] Speaker C: I have resistance to colds and slashing damage. [00:41:58] Speaker D: Should I just ask for class or does that feel gross? [00:42:02] Speaker C: Barbarian. But I think that's a fair question to ask. [00:42:05] Speaker D: Yeah, let's. What's his class? [00:42:07] Speaker B: Barbarian. [00:42:07] Speaker D: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. [00:42:09] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:42:11] Speaker C: Last time most of this party thought of barbarian and Abby was in the room, it did not go well. [00:42:16] Speaker E: Wait, what? [00:42:17] Speaker F: Just in case. [00:42:18] Speaker E: Oh, was that whenever I sat in and everyone tp. Yeah, I'm bad luck, apparently, for barbarian fights. [00:42:27] Speaker F: You said he had two questions. [00:42:29] Speaker B: Mm. [00:42:29] Speaker D: I'ma ask Resistances. [00:42:32] Speaker B: No resistances. [00:42:33] Speaker D: That's what I thought. [00:42:34] Speaker A: Einar glances back briefly, specifically at. With a very concerned look. Then he turns around and in the. [00:42:44] Speaker B: Brief pause where you're all kind of taken aback from a second Brenger just. And an arrow just whistles out from behind you and buries itself in the ground. Next, in between Val's feet and Einar's feet and that woman standing on the watchtower from before knocks another arrow. And Brenger says, have I not made it clear you are not welcome here? [00:43:13] Speaker C: Neither are you. Sort of. With her arm grabbing her glaive. We're not going to leave or be intimidated. If you are supposed to be the strongest one here. By the lady of Graves and by the Eternal Rose, I'd like to issue you a challenge of combat. [00:43:38] Speaker B: There's just a pause. And during this pause is where Einar turns around. [00:43:43] Speaker A: Einar looks at Bringer and just sighs and pulls his shield around. [00:43:51] Speaker B: And everybody else is just kind of holding their breath and quiet. [00:43:56] Speaker C: By Goram's rights, you must face me or be seen as a coward amongst your God. [00:44:05] Speaker B: Bringer straightens up and doesn't turn to you yet, but he's not hunched over the table anymore. I will give you one last chance, young lady, to rescind your challenge or face me on the field of battle. [00:44:24] Speaker C: I am a champion of redemption. I offer you a chance to surrender and give up this foolish pursuit. [00:44:33] Speaker D: Howard's going to, like, tap Val on the shoulder. He can probably kill you in, like, two blows. [00:44:44] Speaker C: I know. I made this plan. It's my responsibility here. I trust in the gods. [00:44:53] Speaker B: Then let it be seen that Brenger Arid sun is truly a rightful heir to the power of King Arid. And he draws his two swords. Let us step outside the camp so there is plenty of room for the battle. And that's where we'll end this episode. [00:45:18] Speaker C: I'm gonna die.
