Episode Transcript
[00:00:05] Speaker A: You are listening to an atomic broadcasting production. So sit back, relax and enjoy the feature presentation. And remember, do your part. Such as like comment rate and don't forget to tell a friend to tune in for an atomic time.
[00:00:31] Speaker B: Now, where did we leave off?
[00:00:35] Speaker C: Ah, yes.
[00:00:38] Speaker B: Our heroes encountered an Omax, a demon of filth, which tried too late to bargain for his life with information concerning nearby treasure.
Once the battle was won, Zafir discovered a pair of chests in the adjoining room.
[00:00:56] Speaker C: Room.
[00:01:00] Speaker B: I don't know why he took no damage. He's dead.
[00:01:02] Speaker D: You know what? Cuz he can't take damage if he's already dead.
[00:01:05] Speaker B: That's a good point.
[00:01:05] Speaker D: Can't kick a dead horse. I mean, you can.
[00:01:07] Speaker E: You can.
[00:01:09] Speaker D: What's the frame?
[00:01:11] Speaker A: Don't beat the dead horse.
[00:01:13] Speaker B: That's the phrase.
[00:01:14] Speaker D: Don't do it. Not you can't do it.
[00:01:16] Speaker A: You can't do it. Just don't do it.
[00:01:18] Speaker E: You can't beat a dead horse.
[00:01:20] Speaker F: I mean, you can beat a dead horse and it's ethically sound as long as you get profit off of it.
[00:01:25] Speaker D: What's that quote from Jurassic Park?
[00:01:27] Speaker E: What?
[00:01:28] Speaker F: We live in capitalism.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: Get with the times.
[00:01:31] Speaker C: No Glue Speaking.
[00:01:34] Speaker E: What?
[00:01:35] Speaker C: It holds us together.
[00:01:36] Speaker E: Oh, glue. I heard blue. I'm like, what does that have to do with anything?
[00:01:39] Speaker A: I heard blue and I was like, blue.
[00:01:42] Speaker E: Blue holds us together. Okay.
[00:01:44] Speaker A: It is a color on the spec.
[00:01:46] Speaker E: It's the color of petite's shirt right now.
[00:01:49] Speaker D: Don't mention my shirt.
[00:01:50] Speaker C: He's got to go fast.
[00:01:51] Speaker E: We only don't mention what Sam is wearing. We didn't esteem establish that rule with.
[00:01:55] Speaker F: You more often than not. It's nothing.
[00:01:58] Speaker C: I do like.
[00:01:59] Speaker E: What?
[00:02:00] Speaker C: I do like your shirt, Petite.
[00:02:01] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:02:02] Speaker E: Hang on, Jenkins.
[00:02:03] Speaker D: What?
[00:02:04] Speaker E: You care to run that by me again?
[00:02:06] Speaker C: There's a reason there are screams between each of us.
[00:02:10] Speaker E: Listen, if that's the case, I'm gonna leave right now. I don't want to be here.
[00:02:14] Speaker B: Speaking of leaving right now, Zafir was just beginning to walk out of the room where you had fought the Omoks, and he sees in front of him two large banded treasure chests.
[00:02:28] Speaker A: He starts drooling.
[00:02:31] Speaker B: What? You can't just switch modes that fast.
[00:02:33] Speaker D: So these chests, you said they're bound. Are they binded or are they bound or like friends or.
[00:02:38] Speaker B: So they're.
They're banded chests.
[00:02:41] Speaker D: Banded. That's what I meant. They're banded like friends. Like us.
[00:02:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:02:44] Speaker D: So we're a band of chests.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: Similar.
You could look at it more like instead of being a smaller box that's just being held together by nails. It's a large enough chest that they need to put strips of metal, the boards, to keep it holding together and sturdy.
[00:02:59] Speaker D: Do they look like they can open?
[00:03:00] Speaker B: Oh, they look like they could open.
Just for a little bit of scale of size. They're about 8ft long each. They're more like trunks than chests.
[00:03:08] Speaker D: I want to ask if I could go in it, but I think Einar could go in it.
[00:03:12] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Any one of you could fit in one. In fact, two of the smaller of you could fit in one.
[00:03:17] Speaker F: Prime Nav, you and petite.
[00:03:22] Speaker D: You know, sometimes I ask things and then I think, why did I ask that? I don't need to know.
[00:03:27] Speaker B: I, as the game master, am ready for any question up to and including, how many of us can fit in that treasure chest on the other side of the room.
[00:03:35] Speaker D: How many dead bodies can fit in it? Because that could be relevant.
[00:03:38] Speaker A: I mean, is that a two body trunk or is that a three body trunk?
[00:03:40] Speaker F: I want to know how much you fold bodies.
[00:03:42] Speaker E: Or five, depending on how tall it is.
[00:03:45] Speaker D: How many of those ogars or whatever.
[00:03:46] Speaker C: They'Re called, you could lay on top of each other?
[00:03:48] Speaker D: Omax.
[00:03:50] Speaker B: It could be like 4 o' clock, 6 omoxes.
There's not as many nooks and crannies.
[00:03:54] Speaker D: What if there's six omaxes?
[00:03:56] Speaker F: Kill the Omax. Just go open the chests.
[00:03:59] Speaker E: Oh, my gosh.
[00:04:00] Speaker D: So the fear is going to turn to the rest of the party and kind of just like do one of those, those like, spy things where he like uses his two fingers, he points his eyes and he points over to the the chest.
[00:04:11] Speaker C: Code words.
[00:04:12] Speaker D: And then he straight up just goes, there's treasure over there.
I'm going in.
[00:04:17] Speaker F: Maybe use a mage hand to open them.
[00:04:19] Speaker D: Nope. He tumbles in and just runs up to the closest chest.
[00:04:22] Speaker E: But what if it's a mimic?
[00:04:24] Speaker C: Val will follow along.
[00:04:25] Speaker E: I'm also going to follow.
[00:04:28] Speaker A: Einar will too.
[00:04:29] Speaker C: Drag me up there, throw rocks at the chest.
[00:04:32] Speaker E: I would like to stand over by one of the headstones on the opposite side of the room, just in case one of these things is a mimic.
[00:04:41] Speaker D: I did forget there were a bunch of dead bodies.
[00:04:43] Speaker E: And like, because I have trauma.
[00:04:47] Speaker F: If it helps, we're strong enough to fight a mimic architect.
[00:04:49] Speaker E: I have trauma.
[00:04:50] Speaker B: So, Zafir, you said you were going up to the closest chest and just opening it.
[00:04:54] Speaker C: You're welcome.
[00:04:54] Speaker D: I just said I ran up to it.
[00:04:57] Speaker B: I just want to make sure you're touching this with your hands, not Yet.
[00:05:03] Speaker D: I'm gonna look it over.
[00:05:05] Speaker A: Okay, sniff it.
[00:05:07] Speaker D: I'm gonna sniff it.
How old is it?
If I can time sense time air, can you age?
[00:05:15] Speaker E: Age sense?
[00:05:16] Speaker A: What is carbon dating by smell?
[00:05:18] Speaker D: I just realized that's what I'm doing. When I sniff the air, I smell how old it is so I can tell what time it is.
[00:05:24] Speaker F: That's not what you're doing.
[00:05:25] Speaker D: That's totally what I'm doing.
[00:05:26] Speaker F: That's not what you're doing.
[00:05:27] Speaker D: Don't change my lore.
[00:05:31] Speaker C: Zephyr can think that that's what.
[00:05:32] Speaker F: Okay, that's fine.
[00:05:33] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:05:34] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:05:36] Speaker B: Make a perception check.
[00:05:37] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:05:38] Speaker E: Can I make an arcana check?
[00:05:41] Speaker B: For what?
[00:05:42] Speaker E: Sensing magical things regarding the chest.
[00:05:46] Speaker B: You have an ability to magic sense.
[00:05:49] Speaker E: I have an expert level in arcana.
[00:05:52] Speaker C: Can I throw a rock at this other one?
[00:05:54] Speaker B: The more northward one? Yeah, sure.
[00:05:56] Speaker F: And can I make a society check to tell how old they are?
[00:05:59] Speaker B: Sure. Okay, so let's go around. So, Zafir, what is your perception?
[00:06:04] Speaker D: 29.
[00:06:05] Speaker B: Okay. This chest appears to be made somewhere within the last few decades. The metal is in good shape, and it seems like it's not brand new, but it has been brought down here recently.
[00:06:18] Speaker D: Any inscriptions or anything that I can glance over?
[00:06:21] Speaker B: No, it seems like it's just a standard chest. Not even anybody who had any pride in their craftsmanship to make like initials on it or anything.
Jenkins, you want a society.
[00:06:34] Speaker F: Rolled a 7?
[00:06:36] Speaker B: It does appear to be of skald craftsmanship, not of what you would be more familiar with growing up in Cheliax, definitely using local woods and metal refining tactics. But you learn similar information that it's a recently crafted chest that's been brought down sometime, most likely in the last decade.
Neros, did you have an ability you were using to sense magic?
[00:07:00] Speaker E: I mean, I have quick identification. I don't know if that counts.
[00:07:04] Speaker B: Not in this case. I mean, you could identify the chest.
[00:07:09] Speaker D: I could answer that one for you.
[00:07:11] Speaker E: Nevermind.
I just want to see if I can sense if it's magical.
[00:07:15] Speaker B: Val, you were throwing a rock at the more northward chest that Zafir is not standing on.
[00:07:19] Speaker C: Aye.
[00:07:20] Speaker B: Make a ranged strike check.
[00:07:22] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:07:23] Speaker B: DC5 watch.
[00:07:26] Speaker E: These things only be like normal chests and we're freaking out for nothing.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: We?
[00:07:30] Speaker F: That's the best part of chests.
[00:07:33] Speaker C: That's why I threw a rock.
[00:07:35] Speaker A: This is where the g rans that anything can be a mimic, technically.
[00:07:39] Speaker D: What if they are sentient and we're hurting its feelings?
[00:07:42] Speaker C: 26.
[00:07:43] Speaker B: All right, where were you aiming? Are you trying to like land the rock on top or hit the front of it.
[00:07:49] Speaker C: Nowhere in particular.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:07:51] Speaker A: DC 5.
[00:07:53] Speaker C: 26.
[00:07:53] Speaker A: Where do you want this rock to hit?
[00:07:55] Speaker C: I guess just the front of it.
[00:07:57] Speaker B: Okay. So you hurl the rock, and it smacks into the latch on the front of the chest and just sits there like.
[00:08:05] Speaker C: Like it shouldn't.
[00:08:06] Speaker E: Wait.
[00:08:06] Speaker B: What? You would expect the rock to fall back off having hit metal.
[00:08:09] Speaker C: Can I roll a knowledge check on this?
[00:08:12] Speaker B: Sure. You have occultism?
[00:08:14] Speaker C: I do have occult. Oh, I have a plus two. Let's see how this goes.
[00:08:19] Speaker E: Can I also, I have a plus 14.
[00:08:21] Speaker F: Ah.
[00:08:22] Speaker C: 20.
[00:08:23] Speaker B: All right. And Neros, I imagine you've been watching because you weren't doing any checks on the other chest. You can go ahead and roll.
[00:08:33] Speaker E: A 19.
[00:08:35] Speaker B: Both of you recognize that that would be an anticipated result for throwing a rock at a mimic.
Oh, my God.
[00:08:44] Speaker E: I knew it.
[00:08:45] Speaker F: Fine art swing.
[00:08:47] Speaker D: So question is, somebody going to tell me not to open this chest?
[00:08:51] Speaker F: Well, it's not that one.
In swings, I don't know. It's a mimic.
[00:08:56] Speaker B: As this realization dawns on the two of you, you just see the lower portion of the chest just starting to distort and bulge outward as a tendril starts reaching up out of the top of it. And I'm going to have you all roll for initiative.
[00:09:11] Speaker E: I freaking knew it.
[00:09:13] Speaker F: Also, I'm foregoing my initiative trauma.
[00:09:17] Speaker E: I'm gonna end up curled up in the corner of the floor like I did the last time we fought a mimic.
[00:09:22] Speaker D: Our fans know nothing about that.
You can't mention another real, real fast.
[00:09:27] Speaker F: In another campaign while everyone's rolling initiative. We all fought a mimic at, like, level one or three or something.
Level one. Everyone almost died except for mine. One day's character.
[00:09:39] Speaker A: One did.
[00:09:40] Speaker F: Yes. Sven's character time. It was the most tremendous dramatic.
[00:09:44] Speaker E: Well, and at this. At one moment in time, everyone was knocked out. It was just my character. And I just kept, like, shooting it and moving 10ft so it couldn't catch me.
It was ridiculous.
[00:09:57] Speaker C: We could have seen it coming.
[00:09:58] Speaker E: It was so stressful.
[00:09:59] Speaker F: I was on the floor.
[00:10:01] Speaker A: Who followed the trail of coins.
[00:10:03] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:10:06] Speaker C: It was my duty.
[00:10:08] Speaker B: All right, Zafir, what's your initiative?
[00:10:11] Speaker D: That would be 19.
[00:10:12] Speaker B: Okay.
Outward.
[00:10:14] Speaker F: I got a 34. And I break ties because I used my time shenanigans.
[00:10:18] Speaker B: Wow, wow, wow, Val.
[00:10:20] Speaker C: Well, you might need to use it, because I got a 26.
[00:10:25] Speaker E: Neros 27.
[00:10:27] Speaker F: What?
[00:10:29] Speaker A: And Einar 31.
[00:10:31] Speaker E: Oh. What?
[00:10:32] Speaker A: Oh, sorry. No.
33.
[00:10:35] Speaker F: Oh.
[00:10:38] Speaker D: You're gonna have to break ties with everybody.
[00:10:39] Speaker B: All right. Alward by one point you are first.
[00:10:43] Speaker F: Even if it wasn't by that one point, I'd be first.
I'm presuming we see the mimic. I see the mimic, yes.
[00:10:50] Speaker B: You can see it on the map in person.
[00:10:52] Speaker F: In person.
[00:10:53] Speaker B: In person.
[00:10:54] Speaker F: Does it look like it can get out of there or.
[00:10:56] Speaker B: No, it does not look like it would have any difficulty leaving the alcove.
[00:11:00] Speaker F: Okay. How big is that alcove?
[00:11:02] Speaker B: It's like 10ft wide, 15ft deep. There's a small, like 5 foot doorway that leads into it, but the mimic itself is currently being amorphous enough that it doesn't look like the doorway would be a challenge.
[00:11:15] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:11:15] Speaker D: I wish I could be amorphous. I wish.
I wish I could.
[00:11:21] Speaker E: You wish you were a cat?
[00:11:23] Speaker D: Yes.
Sleep all day. Eat food.
Do it again.
[00:11:29] Speaker F: I'm just going to go ahead and.
No, not telekinetic hand. No, not telekinetic. Rend. Why is so many things telekinetic?
[00:11:37] Speaker E: Well, it's like you're a psychic or something.
[00:11:40] Speaker F: It's like I'm a telekinetic psychic.
[00:11:42] Speaker B: You would have thought he'd seen that coming.
[00:11:46] Speaker F: I'm going to cast telekinetic projectile at this beastie.
[00:11:50] Speaker E: All right, guys, did we just metagame? Did we by looking, purposefully looking for a mimic?
[00:11:57] Speaker C: No.
[00:11:57] Speaker F: 30.
[00:11:58] Speaker C: I mean, I was threw the rock because there might have been a trap. That's why I threw the rock.
[00:12:03] Speaker B: I think in this world, mimics are well known enough that it's not unreasonable for level nine adventurers to say, hang on a minute.
[00:12:10] Speaker D: They need to choose a different form. Like, come on.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: All right, Jenkins, you said a 30 to hit.
[00:12:15] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:12:15] Speaker B: That's a critical hit.
[00:12:16] Speaker F: Oh, my goodness. I should have amped that.
[00:12:19] Speaker E: Kill it. One shot. It probably killed it. We are level nine.
[00:12:24] Speaker A: If you don't kill it, I will.
[00:12:26] Speaker F: 20 bludgeoning damage.
[00:12:28] Speaker B: He takes it.
He is not bloodied.
[00:12:30] Speaker F: I would like to use my last action recall knowledge.
[00:12:33] Speaker B: All right. Making. Wait, no. What's your occultism bonus?
[00:12:37] Speaker F: 72.
[00:12:38] Speaker C: I think it's.
[00:12:39] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:12:40] Speaker E: How do you have that at level nine?
[00:12:42] Speaker F: I'm very talented.
I'm an expert, I can tell you that. Is it 19 occultism? It is 19. Good job, Sam.
[00:12:51] Speaker B: Critical success. What would you like to know?
[00:12:53] Speaker F: Well, first, this is a mimic. What level is it?
[00:12:55] Speaker B: It's a level four mimic.
[00:12:57] Speaker F: Oh, okay. We're fine.
[00:12:59] Speaker E: Guys. It's level four. We're going to die.
[00:13:01] Speaker F: Weakest save.
[00:13:03] Speaker B: Weakest save?
Good question. It's a tie between reflex and will.
[00:13:07] Speaker F: Oh, fun. And then I get Two, since it's a critical.
[00:13:13] Speaker B: Special abilities, mimics are well known for their adhesive properties.
Any creature that is hit by the mimic or otherwise touches the mimic must succeed on a reflex save or become stuck. Grabbed by the mimic. The same thing goes for any.
The same thing goes for any weapon that strikes the mimic. It will automatically be grabbed.
[00:13:34] Speaker F: Oh, I didn't know. That's fun, Einar.
[00:13:38] Speaker A: Yeah, he got a. Hit it. While muttering something along the lines of, we don't have time for this free action.
And I say free action. He's gonna drop his shield.
[00:13:50] Speaker B: All right.
[00:13:51] Speaker A: And two, hand this swing.
[00:13:54] Speaker B: Gotcha. So it will take one action to put your other hand on your sword.
[00:13:59] Speaker A: Really?
[00:14:00] Speaker B: It's a single action to change your grip. It's a free action to, like, lower your grip. But it takes an action to upgrade your grip.
[00:14:07] Speaker A: That's a stupid rule.
[00:14:09] Speaker C: It's not my favorite rule in the game.
[00:14:11] Speaker D: Isn't there a feat that can do that?
[00:14:12] Speaker F: Stupid. Oh, it's.
[00:14:13] Speaker C: So you're changing grip.
[00:14:15] Speaker F: Yeah. You're changing. That makes more sense.
[00:14:16] Speaker A: No, it doesn't.
[00:14:18] Speaker F: They gotta limit you somehow, Sven.
[00:14:20] Speaker D: You're too powerful.
[00:14:22] Speaker C: Fine.
[00:14:22] Speaker A: I won't use vicious swing.
[00:14:24] Speaker C: I know. I wanted you to viciously swing.
[00:14:29] Speaker E: That died.
[00:14:32] Speaker A: It's a great thud.
[00:14:33] Speaker E: It's like an aggressive thud.
[00:14:36] Speaker A: 38.
[00:14:37] Speaker B: That might be a critical. Why don't you go ahead and roll crit damage, just to be safe.
[00:14:42] Speaker C: Is he allowed to double crit because it's so high?
[00:14:45] Speaker B: No, it's not that high.
[00:14:48] Speaker F: You know, thinking about it, I don't think I told you that my. My crit damage. I think I just told you my base damage.
[00:14:55] Speaker E: That was your base damage?
[00:14:57] Speaker F: Yeah, that was my base damage.
[00:14:59] Speaker B: It's still right at the end of your turn. We can go ahead and just grandfather that in.
[00:15:04] Speaker A: Just double it. Is it still?
[00:15:06] Speaker F: I'm not used to still.
[00:15:07] Speaker B: Okay, but it's now bloodied.
[00:15:11] Speaker D: Do you think we can cook this and eat it?
[00:15:13] Speaker E: Ew. I don't want to eat.
[00:15:15] Speaker C: This isn't actually. If you read delicious in dungeon.
[00:15:19] Speaker F: Yeah. I was about to say this isn't delicious in dungeon. I kept wanting to say dungeon meshy.
[00:15:23] Speaker C: I don't know what that is.
[00:15:25] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:15:25] Speaker C: Oh, really?
That's a worse name.
[00:15:28] Speaker F: It is a worse name.
[00:15:31] Speaker D: Boiled mimic.
[00:15:32] Speaker C: Let the man do his math.
[00:15:35] Speaker D: I'm just filling in time.
[00:15:37] Speaker E: You don't have to.
[00:15:38] Speaker D: He can think.
I am interested here.
[00:15:43] Speaker A: 50.
[00:15:48] Speaker C: Did that get him? Did that get him?
[00:15:51] Speaker F: Just long silence.
50.
[00:15:56] Speaker B: So Val looks at this chest, throws a rock, and it Sticks to it. The chest starts to move alward, just with supernatural speed. Hurls another rock that just takes out a chunk of the chest. Eidar just walks up and just slices it in two. And the thing just begins to melt onto the ground.
[00:16:13] Speaker F: Love it.
[00:16:14] Speaker C: Well, that was simple enough.
[00:16:15] Speaker B: Okay, just. Just for reference, that thing's Max HP was 75.
[00:16:21] Speaker F: Oh, if I would have amped.
[00:16:22] Speaker D: Oh, are we still in initiative?
[00:16:24] Speaker B: No, we are safe.
[00:16:26] Speaker E: Just for funsies, can we check and make sure the other chest isn't one of those?
[00:16:30] Speaker C: Sure, I'll throw a rocket.
[00:16:31] Speaker D: The second I see Einar doing that, Zafir just, like, backs away with his hands just out in front of him.
[00:16:38] Speaker C: 28.
[00:16:39] Speaker B: The rock hurls through the air, hits the lock on the front of the chest, and then bounces off the ground.
[00:16:45] Speaker C: Hits Saphir in the face.
[00:16:48] Speaker D: Zaphir puts his hands back, back out, like he was back away, and walks towards it again.
[00:16:52] Speaker F: You know, it could be trapped.
[00:16:53] Speaker D: And then casts mage hand, gives it a little pat. Pat on the head.
[00:16:58] Speaker C: I'm sorry, it's telekinetic hand.
[00:17:00] Speaker D: Telekinetic hand.
[00:17:02] Speaker B: So you telekinetically pat the chest.
[00:17:05] Speaker D: Yes. Also, I'm calling it Magus Hand from now on.
[00:17:08] Speaker C: Oh, that's fair. You can do that.
[00:17:11] Speaker B: So your magus hand pats the top of the chest and just a little bit of just dust. Just poop.
[00:17:17] Speaker D: I was hoping it was like. Like a touch trash can, where you press the button and it's just gonna look around and I'm going to open it.
Anybody opposed to that?
[00:17:28] Speaker A: Einar picks up a shield, flings whatever is left on his sword back onto the ground.
Just hurry up, please.
[00:17:37] Speaker D: Can my mage hand actually, better yet.
[00:17:41] Speaker C: Excuse me.
[00:17:42] Speaker D: From the light of the green flame, cast a shadow coming underneath my feet, stretching up onto the chest. And the shadow slowly creaks the door open.
And door. I mean, lid.
[00:17:56] Speaker B: So this trunk, it's like 8ft long, is almost full of various items, clutter.
But what you're finding is most common in here is various bits of currency.
[00:18:14] Speaker D: Money.
[00:18:15] Speaker B: Money.
If you were to take time to.
[00:18:18] Speaker F: Count how much is in that chest. Roundabout to the nearest degree.
[00:18:23] Speaker B: Oh, you have that eye for numbers in the chat. I do.
[00:18:26] Speaker F: I've had that for a long time.
[00:18:28] Speaker A: It's useful now.
[00:18:29] Speaker F: It's always useful.
[00:18:31] Speaker C: Save. Stop.
[00:18:32] Speaker B: 2,900 gold pieces.
[00:18:37] Speaker C: What? 52, 51. 50.
[00:18:40] Speaker E: A lot of money.
[00:18:41] Speaker F: Howard's going to glance over at the chest, and his eyes are gonna go wide and his jaw's gonna drop. He's just like, where was.
[00:18:49] Speaker D: Do we pocket this?
[00:18:50] Speaker F: Yes.
[00:18:50] Speaker D: How do we get it out of there?
[00:18:53] Speaker C: Well, are we sure this isn't, like, someone's, like, you know, I'm sure whoever.
[00:18:58] Speaker D: It was is dead.
[00:18:59] Speaker C: Well, like, what if it's, like, things possessed by the dead that people need to come pick up or something? I don't know.
[00:19:06] Speaker D: If they're dead, they're not gonna pick it up.
[00:19:07] Speaker E: I don't think that's what it is.
[00:19:08] Speaker A: I mean, if they're dead and they come to pick it up, we might want to kill them first.
[00:19:12] Speaker D: And it's not like their names are written on it. How are you gonna tell the difference?
[00:19:14] Speaker C: Okay, all right, fine.
[00:19:16] Speaker E: We're just taking the money. Okay.
[00:19:18] Speaker B: If you choose to divide it evenly, that's 580 gold a piece.
[00:19:24] Speaker E: Alward, can you afford to buy a house now?
[00:19:26] Speaker F: Now I think I can afford to buy a better house than previously.
[00:19:29] Speaker C: We're going to help you out now. We don't have to wait.
[00:19:31] Speaker F: How much gold?
[00:19:32] Speaker E: How much gold?
[00:19:33] Speaker A: 580.
[00:19:34] Speaker D: 580. That is a lot.
[00:19:37] Speaker B: Alward and Zafir, as the two of you are going through the chest and sifting through the currency, you do come across a few items that catch your interest out of the clutter.
First off, you find a obsidian black ring that catches the light whether there's light or not.
[00:20:00] Speaker D: That's a weird description. Go on.
[00:20:01] Speaker F: Yeah, I was like, I'm gonna wait until you say everything to ask questions.
[00:20:05] Speaker B: Well, I'm done talking about that ring.
[00:20:08] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:20:08] Speaker A: Hey. Hey. True to form the group.
[00:20:11] Speaker B: Oh, sure, sure.
[00:20:12] Speaker A: We should pick somebody to just randomly put it on.
[00:20:15] Speaker E: I'll do it. No.
[00:20:18] Speaker B: There's also a bag that appears to be made out of a fur pelt, but is warm to the touch.
[00:20:25] Speaker A: It can match my cloak.
[00:20:27] Speaker B: A violet silk cloak.
[00:20:30] Speaker C: Ooh, that would look well with my outfit.
[00:20:33] Speaker F: Get out of here.
[00:20:34] Speaker B: And a very ornate tube of lipstick.
[00:20:39] Speaker F: Oh, that's definitely why hand.
[00:20:41] Speaker D: Look at me.
[00:20:42] Speaker F: No, that is mine. You cannot have it. Everyone, look at me. I'm going to look fabulous.
[00:20:47] Speaker D: Not your shade, Howard.
[00:20:48] Speaker E: Nero swear makeup clash with my.
[00:20:51] Speaker F: With my.
[00:20:52] Speaker E: Give it to Val. She's the one with the dress.
[00:20:54] Speaker C: It's true. I was thinking chapstick.
[00:20:58] Speaker F: Can we identify them or.
[00:21:00] Speaker B: Sure, I can accept arcana on any of those.
[00:21:05] Speaker F: I am trained in arcana.
[00:21:08] Speaker E: All right, what are we rolling for? I zoned out.
[00:21:10] Speaker F: What? To identify these items.
[00:21:12] Speaker E: I'm rolling.
[00:21:13] Speaker F: Yep, Jordy's rolling.
[00:21:14] Speaker E: Are we rolling or are you rolling?
[00:21:16] Speaker B: It's a secret check.
[00:21:17] Speaker E: Okay. I would like to check.
I would like to be in on this.
[00:21:22] Speaker C: If I get to.
If I could ever use my music. Lore, it's 13.
[00:21:28] Speaker B: Not in this case.
All right. So, Val, you are not sure.
[00:21:33] Speaker C: I don't know what any of this is.
[00:21:35] Speaker D: Wait, were there only four items?
[00:21:37] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:21:37] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:21:38] Speaker F: Alward, what was your bonus bonus to 6? 15.
[00:21:44] Speaker B: Ooh.
You successfully identify these items.
[00:21:48] Speaker F: Oh, cool. What are they?
[00:21:49] Speaker B: So the first one is known as a shadow signet.
[00:21:55] Speaker E: Is that the ring?
[00:21:58] Speaker F: The ring that is supposedly makes casters amazing.
[00:22:04] Speaker D: Well, it has shadow in the name, so it's gotta be mine, right?
[00:22:06] Speaker E: Excuse me. I also play with shadows.
[00:22:08] Speaker F: So it allows you to ignore their AC and substitute it for will. Is it?
[00:22:15] Speaker B: So you can as a free action spell, shape a. A spell that would normally do a spell attack roll. And instead of targeting their armor class, you can target their fortitude or their reflex.
[00:22:27] Speaker D: Reflex.
[00:22:31] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:22:33] Speaker A: So totally not useful for Einar.
[00:22:36] Speaker C: One of you two should take.
[00:22:38] Speaker F: Yeah, I don't think it's good for you, petite. I'm sorry.
[00:22:40] Speaker A: Actually, that is a good point.
[00:22:42] Speaker D: No, it's okay. I'm also.
[00:22:43] Speaker F: We can talk about it later.
[00:22:44] Speaker D: A wacky.
[00:22:45] Speaker C: I'm wacky fight right now.
Duel Roll off.
[00:22:49] Speaker B: The second item, the bag that seems to be made out of a fur pelt. Is a bag of cats.
[00:22:56] Speaker A: We're not giving it to the person with the barrel of monkeys.
[00:22:59] Speaker F: You can only get the shadow signet or the bag of cats.
[00:23:05] Speaker C: Ah, the leather bag purrs quietly with pet.
[00:23:08] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:23:09] Speaker C: I don't like that.
[00:23:10] Speaker E: I love that.
[00:23:11] Speaker F: What?
[00:23:13] Speaker B: It has two activation abilities. You can either use it to summon a leopard or to put the bag over your head and then come back out as a cat battle form.
[00:23:23] Speaker D: Well, that sounds amazing.
[00:23:24] Speaker B: So, I think it's for Einar.
[00:23:27] Speaker C: He loves putting things on his head.
[00:23:29] Speaker F: Yeah. Then he'll have a dog and a cat form.
[00:23:31] Speaker A: I feel like that would just enrage the cloak more.
[00:23:34] Speaker C: More could he just do both and become dog, Cat, cat, dog, Cat, dog, or whatever it is.
[00:23:39] Speaker F: Cat, dog.
[00:23:42] Speaker E: That's funny.
[00:23:43] Speaker A: But I can summon a leopard.
[00:23:44] Speaker C: Thank you.
[00:23:45] Speaker A: I could be a wolf and have a leopard friend.
[00:23:47] Speaker D: You're assuming we're giving it to you.
[00:23:49] Speaker E: Technically, yeah.
[00:23:49] Speaker A: Oh, I. I'm taking it. No.
[00:23:51] Speaker F: What. What's next?
[00:23:53] Speaker B: The next one was a silken cloak that has the aim aiding rune etched onto it.
Which means whoever's wearing that cloak does not provide cover when taking their allies arranged attacks into consideration.
[00:24:10] Speaker F: So, like, we have to give that to Inar of.
[00:24:12] Speaker C: Yeah. So we wouldn't count as cover.
[00:24:15] Speaker B: Okay, now the way I'm ruling this is, you can just go ahead and throw the cloak on. Now, you don't have to move that rune, but you have to have space on your armor to have a property rune.
[00:24:26] Speaker C: I don't think either of us have property runes, so I could take it. It goes with my outfit. It makes more sense depending on what the other item is. I don't want to take all of them. What's this fourth item?
[00:24:36] Speaker B: The last item? The ornate lipstick is a rebranded wand of honeyed words.
[00:24:45] Speaker E: I already have. I already have that spell, so.
[00:24:49] Speaker B: So once per day, you can touch up your lipstick.
[00:24:52] Speaker C: Fine art.
[00:24:54] Speaker B: It's non gendered lipstick. It chooses whatever shade works best for whoever's attuned to it.
[00:24:58] Speaker F: Oh, nice.
[00:25:01] Speaker B: It lasts for 10 minutes and gives you a plus 4 status bonus to deception checks to lie and against perception checks to discern if you're telling the truth. And you get to add your level even if you're untrained.
[00:25:14] Speaker D: Does anybody oppose to giving it to me?
[00:25:16] Speaker C: You can have it.
[00:25:17] Speaker A: You can have it.
[00:25:18] Speaker C: I would like the cloak.
Einar already has a cloak.
You got your wolf form cloak thing.
[00:25:25] Speaker A: Not currently, but I am wearing another cloak that doesn't do anything. It's just a cloak.
[00:25:32] Speaker C: Am I okay to take this silken cloak?
[00:25:34] Speaker A: I was gonna give it anyway.
[00:25:36] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[00:25:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:36] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:25:38] Speaker C: I'm just imagining like a dollar Tree, like, really cheap purple cloak. That's like the only thing I can imagine. And she has this ornate armor that's all painted like a galaxy. That is this really cheap, like, fabric cloak.
[00:25:52] Speaker D: We can go a little bit silk in Party City.
[00:25:54] Speaker C: It's a silk cloak.
[00:25:56] Speaker A: It's a Party City cloak.
[00:25:57] Speaker E: I.
[00:25:58] Speaker D: A little bit higher than Dollar Tree.
[00:26:00] Speaker E: I think you, Albert, should take the ring because most of the spells I use attack will.
[00:26:05] Speaker F: Okay, I was about to say I. Most of the spells I use swap between targeting saves anyway. But the ones that spell that is like, part of my kit is telekinetic projectile and it has to target ac.
[00:26:17] Speaker E: I think you should take it.
[00:26:18] Speaker F: All right, cool.
[00:26:19] Speaker D: So that means one of you gets a bag of cats.
[00:26:22] Speaker E: I don't want it.
[00:26:24] Speaker D: Yeah, you do hold a bag of cats.
[00:26:25] Speaker E: I really don't want that. Or the lipstick.
[00:26:29] Speaker D: Hey, I'm.
[00:26:29] Speaker E: You're taking the lipstick.
[00:26:31] Speaker D: I could take the bag of cats.
[00:26:32] Speaker F: If you guys don't want it.
[00:26:33] Speaker C: I love that majority. Did you think Zafir was going to end up with the lipstick?
[00:26:38] Speaker B: I was sitting here like, there's two characters that feels like it fits their vibe. But I really hope Zafir gets it.
[00:26:45] Speaker A: I will take the bag of cats if anybody else will take it.
[00:26:49] Speaker E: Take it.
[00:26:51] Speaker C: Take it.
[00:26:51] Speaker E: I don't want it. I just want the money.
[00:26:53] Speaker C: You're an animal person too.
[00:26:55] Speaker D: Apparently so. We just emptied this entire eight foot chest.
How did we put that in our pocket?
[00:27:02] Speaker B: So you're not taking everything? I mean, I'm not saying you can't take everything, but there's a lot in there that I didn't describe that's just general. Just like some clothes, a hammer, stuff like that. There's probably about 200 gold coins worth of just junk. If you could find somebody to pawn it off on.
[00:27:20] Speaker C: Like that gremlin in the arena.
[00:27:21] Speaker D: What if we call Crass?
What if we call Crass and he appears in this room and we get to sell it to him?
[00:27:29] Speaker F: What is it? What?
[00:27:31] Speaker E: I feel like that's just too much and we should move on.
[00:27:33] Speaker F: Yeah, let's just go.
[00:27:35] Speaker C: We gotta need to worry about the money till after we're done with this.
[00:27:38] Speaker F: Yeah, we can all die.
[00:27:41] Speaker A: What are the odds that this chest is going to be looted when we come back?
[00:27:44] Speaker F: None. Let's move.
[00:27:46] Speaker B: There is a lock on the front.
[00:27:48] Speaker A: Of it we can lock.
[00:27:49] Speaker D: Do we have a key?
[00:27:51] Speaker F: Val, you okay?
[00:27:53] Speaker E: Val is sassily walking away with a new cloak on.
[00:27:56] Speaker F: She's entirely strutting her stuff.
[00:28:00] Speaker A: She's strutting that cloak.
[00:28:01] Speaker C: She has her arms out like she's an airplane.
[00:28:04] Speaker A: Einar grabs the bag of cats, feels it purr, frowns, shrugs it off and starts walking.
[00:28:13] Speaker C: I like the concept of Einar sneaking and accidentally rubbing against this bag and spurring at it.
[00:28:20] Speaker B: So as you guys have been moving your pawns on the screen, I say, you guys. It was Sam and I did everybody catch up? It looks like you've moved in back into the room where you fought the Umoks, where there's another entrance to the south that you haven't yet explored.
[00:28:36] Speaker C: Yeah, let's go find an old woman and kill her.
[00:28:40] Speaker F: What's down this hallway?
[00:28:42] Speaker B: Bones.
I love bones.
[00:28:45] Speaker F: They make such a drag. Bones.
[00:28:47] Speaker B: As you continue to down the hallway, it opens up to another sort of atrium with a tomb in the middle of it.
This one appears to have been.
What's the right word for this?
It's not desecrated. It's more just defiled.
[00:29:03] Speaker E: Well, decrepit.
[00:29:05] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just been disused. Just, you know, nobody's been in here taking care of it. You had. Remember when you were in that room earlier where you had found a tomb on the south side. There were some collapsed stones. You're now back on the other side of that collapsed pathway and you can tell that somebody intentionally collapsed that path. There should. There's supposed to be a doorway there, and they had just, you know, pulled things down to block it off.
That's rude.
[00:29:32] Speaker F: Bless you.
[00:29:34] Speaker A: Bless you. Bless you, my child.
[00:29:36] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:29:37] Speaker A: Is the hallway across from the coffin and directly east?
[00:29:42] Speaker E: East.
[00:29:43] Speaker B: Ah, yes. There's also another hall directly across the room. From the way you're entering, that appears to open back out into the bone strewn chasm that you entered from.
[00:29:53] Speaker A: Oh, let's not go that way again.
[00:29:55] Speaker E: Let's go that way, guys.
[00:29:57] Speaker A: No, Val, I'm not carrying you again.
[00:30:02] Speaker F: You didn't have to carry.
[00:30:02] Speaker E: You didn't carry Val. You carried me.
[00:30:04] Speaker F: And me.
[00:30:06] Speaker B: And finally, on the south side of this room is probably the best lit area that you've seen so far.
There's just a large, open, well paved stone room.
[00:30:19] Speaker F: Let's go in it.
[00:30:20] Speaker A: Einar is definitely leading the charge with Val, I'm guessing.
[00:30:24] Speaker C: Oh, probably, yeah.
[00:30:27] Speaker E: Neros is muttering to herself.
[00:30:30] Speaker F: Can I hear it?
[00:30:31] Speaker E: No.
[00:30:31] Speaker A: Oh, can I try?
[00:30:32] Speaker E: I mean, you can, you can hear it, but it's like soft enough that you can't understand a word she's saying.
[00:30:37] Speaker F: Oh, so it's like.
[00:30:40] Speaker D: Sorry, what?
[00:30:41] Speaker C: She's finishing up a ritual over there.
[00:30:45] Speaker D: You're the reason the flames are green.
[00:30:48] Speaker C: She is the bbg.
[00:30:50] Speaker E: No, no, no, no, no. If I was doing this ritual, the flames would be black.
[00:30:55] Speaker C: But then I couldn't see.
[00:30:58] Speaker E: They're glowing black, like a black. Like a black light.
[00:31:02] Speaker D: Purple.
[00:31:04] Speaker E: It's a rave down here.
[00:31:07] Speaker B: All right, so as you come around the corner and you're looking down into that room to the south, there are several of the torches that you've been seeing that are glowing with that eerie green light. And in the center of the room is a small, hunched over old woman who is lighting one final candle in a circle on the floor.
She looks up to Val and Einar as they walk into the doorway and just says, ah, I've been expecting you.
And that's where we'll end this episode.
[00:31:40] Speaker D: How dare she conveniently be doing the last thing old lady.
[00:31:44] Speaker E: Guys, we have to fight. Mother.
[00:31:46] Speaker D: That might not be Mother. It could be something.
[00:31:49] Speaker E: He just did the Mother voice.
[00:31:50] Speaker F: He did just do the Mother voice.
[00:31:52] Speaker D: Maybe it's his sister.
Yeah, Mother.
[00:31:59] Speaker A: Aunt, then.
[00:31:59] Speaker E: Aunt. Mother.
[00:32:01] Speaker F: And Mother.
[00:32:02] Speaker C: Oh, the Queen.
[00:32:03] Speaker E: Other. Other Mother.
[00:32:05] Speaker F: Oh, no, I don't want to spite.
[00:32:07] Speaker A: Spite.
[00:32:08] Speaker F: Welcome home, I don't want to spite that thing.
[00:32:10] Speaker B: All right, so the hero point for this episode goes to Sam for his tactical decision of identifying the potential mimic.
[00:32:19] Speaker C: When I can. I won't work. Rocks Will.
[00:32:22] Speaker A: If in doubt, rock.
[00:32:24] Speaker C: Okay, well, thanks, everyone.
I'm gonna go.
I don't know, research old women.
[00:32:37] Speaker B: Don't. Don't look that up.
[00:32:40] Speaker F: Google it on your work.
[00:32:41] Speaker C: How to kill old woman Bones. Question.
[00:32:46] Speaker F: Just make sure you do that on your work. Completely doesn't mess up your.
[00:32:50] Speaker E: Okay, okay, okay. Do not put us on an FBI watch list.
[00:32:56] Speaker B: All right, go ahead, listeners.
[00:32:58] Speaker E: Go ahead and put.
[00:33:00] Speaker B: Join us on the Discord.
[00:33:02] Speaker D: Having a hard time, Jordy, please, please.
[00:33:04] Speaker B: Convince Sam not to get us on an FBI watch place.
[00:33:07] Speaker C: It's too late.
[00:33:09] Speaker E: It's too late.
[00:33:11] Speaker C: I read Delta Greed. We're already on a watch list.
[00:33:15] Speaker B: All right, well, we'll see you on the Discords, and we will catch you in the next episode. Bye.
[00:33:19] Speaker E: Bye.
